Hi, I just got my iPad 2! Yay! Now to move on to accessorizing my iPad, first thing is protection. I am primarily going to use my iPad for on-the-couch gaming (mostly) and perhaps some movie watching on the flight or in transit. I figured that I will therefore buy a silicone case to give a better grip and some protection (my preferred one) and a sleeve to hold it (this is the one i am inclined towards) I have absolutely no use for anything which helps me keep my iPad at an inclined level. So while the leather folios and smart covers look good, I really think they will hinder gaming a lot. I mean... really... how is one supposed to sit back on the couch and play with this on the iPad. Or for that matter the smart cover. I am really surprised that the smart cover is selling as much as it is! What kind of cases are other TA readers using, considering that everyone here must be playing a good deal of games on their iPads? It would really help. Thanks in advance. Cheers
I'm using a self-tanned(using mink oil) tan leather Smart cover with a Belkin clear snap-on backing that works with the Smart cover on. Pretty sweet combo IMO. And the Smart cover doesn't really hinder gaming at all for me, because I simply snap it off if I'm going to be gaming for a while. It's simple to take off and put back on....Takes but mere milliseconds to take on/off.
That's an interesting option. A smart cover, with a back case. But I don't think I will do that. Point being that I will anyways need a sleeve to carry the iPad in on my trips. ANd then a back case for the grip. Am super cash stripped right now to afford one more layer on the iPad
Umm... one more follow up question. anyone's seen that G-form case which can withstand a bowling ball dropped on iPad? That's really sweet!
I am using a apple smart cover for the front, I am using this for the back ( I like the fact it also covers all the edges as well. I am also using this to keep it in. I like the fact that it also has a zipped pouch for keeping my stylus and my MiFi in. When playing games, I just pop off the smartcover for comfort.
I would have loved to have the smart cover... but would have required a back case and some sort of a sleeve in any case. And am too cash drained to get one right now. Thanks anyways.
Have a look at the cases this guy is selling. http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/tuff-luv-uk/ I have the Souk version for my iPad 2. The original version, same design is still going strong on my original iPad.
I'm using an apple smart cover to protect the screen and an old jiffy envelope to protect the whole thing when it's in my workbag! It's not ideal but it does the job, not a single scratch since day one!
Using a leather smart cover (navy) for the front, mounted over a scratch-guard screen of course. I bought some 'contact paper' from a local store - they come in rolls and are essentially sheets of semi-sticky clear plastic sheets which you can use to protect a variety of things - table tops, books, and in my case, the back of my iPad 2 It does its job quite well; it took me a few tries to get it on perfectly and get all the bubbles out of the way but, am happy with the protection it's providing for the iPad 2. I then put the iPad 2 into a black leather holder - the inside has a soft lining and it fits PERFECTLY into it with a flap to open it from top, secured by Velcro. Perfect for my needs.
Just got the Amzer case. It's perfect. Gives the iPad a good grip to play. Should be decently protective. Protects the sides. Covers the buttons, but i don't require all my might to push them. Love the look of the case as well. The catch being you can not use a smart cover with it. I don't mind that. I also have a Capcase sleeve. This has gotten a little tight with the amzer case on the iPad.
CNET has their Ultimate iPad 2 Case Roundup, which they seem to update regularly. At this point, they've highlighted 45 different cases. As soon as I get my iPad 2, I think I'm going to get the Toblino 2 for iPad 2. Here's the Amazon Link. Scroll down to the reviews for a really nice video review. I want a case that covers all sides of the iPad, and not just the screen. I also like that the Toblino case has the magnetic tabs for the autosleep mode.
