Look up those games on the app store and it'll say if its compatible with it. I think the latest games such as Madden 12 wouldnt cater for the ipad 1 but check the description when its out.

Yes , it's can play most of the game in the AppStore now ,from what I know only 3 games that is unplayable in IPad1 are Walking Dead, Jurrassic Park , Machinarium, all 3 are ported game so it's not very compatible to IOS device

I don't know about Madden 12 , but I know that IPad 1 can play Fifa 12 , so I think it play Madden 12 well

iPad 1 play aralon and MC3 well

The iPad 1 can play most of the games on the AppStore.

"Aralon: Sword and Shadow" looks and plays great on it. I have Madden 11, but not 12, but I'm sure that is 1st Gen compatible.

The AppStore descriptions will say what iPads are compatible with a game. Most will say "compatible with iPad" which means ALL iPads. Otherwise, it will specifically state which models it works on.

The concern I have with the iPad 1 is the new iOS 6 coming out will not run on it. At that point, you may start seeing fewer compatible games coming out as some developers may focus solely on iOS 6 and less on a backwards compatible OS.

Unless you're getting it for free or really really cheap, do yourself a favor and pick up an iPad 2 instead. The difference between the two is huge. iPad 1 is way too laggy and slow in comparison.

I personally have an iPad 1. It's showing its age but still works with all the games I'm interested in still.
