Not sure, but my 2nd gen Touch works fine with multitasking... there are around 8 apps in the fast switch menu right now and it's performing the same as ever. iOS4 as a whole lags my device from time to time, but that happened before I enabled multitasking as well.
I believe the iPod Touch 2nd gen has 128 mb and the iPhone 4 has 512 mb but some of that RAM is not available because it is being used by the OS.
Well, I'm hoping that, as with a few other things, Apple will relax a little bit on the "Joe User is a retard so the rest of you have to suffer" philosophy and maybe starts to introduce something that actually require a little bit of learning to use. Besides, something like skinning is the sort of thing only more advanced (or at least "comfortable") users will be doing anyway. I mean, not everything has to be dumbed down to the lowest common denominator. Absolutely ... I hate seeing truncated song titles, especially since I have a lot of songs with long artist and/or mix names and such. But while we're talking iPod, access to major ID3 tag categories would be nice to see more information on a song. Also, I've said this for years, but a real freaking EQ, please! It doesn't even have to be fancy, 5 bands would do nicely. Presets suck ass. Period. Not sure I understand this one. Isn't that what a playlist does? 1st gen: 128MB 2nd & 3rd gen: 256MB 4th gen: 512MB I'm assuming the 4th gen Touch will have the same RAM bump.
None of anything your saying really matters to me because of the simple fact that the thread is about a wish list. Ergo that is what I wish...meaning it's not reality so I have been either ignoring it or dealing with it. Anal? I guess maybe, but what's so anal about expressing personal opinion that is based on an idea or "wish". If your trying to prove some point by using an analogy...it's futile given the basis of the thread. Your not gonna ever change my want or "wish" for the option...& I can almost say with certainty that if the ability to toggle off which apps killed upon exit and didn't go to the fast switch bar was implemented you would welcome the option to your device's overall capability, or just not use it. So while I see your point....I think it's pointless in trying to prove it in some way because my opinion is that multitasking could use refinements just like almost anything on life an those are my suggestions, want & or wishes regarding iOS. If that's anal...then trying to prove something to me that I already know is just plain redundant. "ignore it" you say, well that's what I have been doing...hence the "wish" part of wish list.
I'd be happy if they just allowed 16 apps per folder. I almost suspect they went with 12 because 3x4 = 4x3; the folder only scrolls up one row when you close it and/or matches up properly when you have a full folder...
Fair enough, I wish for legal money printing and a knighthood. ...and yes it was anal, only I don't think you really knew since you questioned it.
Back on topic... I'd like songs without artwork to have some sort of design. The White screen with a music note watermark is ugly!
I'd be happier if they did what Infinifolders does. Open folder, scroll down list. Have a little arrow indicator to show there are more apps above and/or below. Dead simple, user-friendly, still keeps things neat any tidy, you just don't need to create "RPGs 1" and "RPGs 2" folders because you have too damn many RPGs to fit neatly into one folder.
- I agree, I can't stand having two folders for one genre. So at the moment I just play until I beat and add a new game into the folder. Personally I still think Apple could make a shit load of money by selling themes in iTunes. And themes are the only thing I would want added at this point - themes, and access to game data for backup.
I'm a packrat, so I do create numbered folders for genres I have more than 12 games in. I'd rather I didn't have to do that though; it bugs me when I have 13, because then I have to have one hanging out all by its lonesome 'til I get another of the same genre to pair it with and create a folder. Not just Apple, but anyone could sell a theme. It would be its own category in the App Store. New revenue stream = win in my books.
Someone would have to moderate the themes section night and day with all the copyrighted images it'd get. I'd like the choice of multiple themes, and wouldn't even mind paying a price for a professional looking one, but the whole idea of allowing anyone to put them on the store just gives me this mental image of endless Hello Kitty, Master Chief and Gears of War pictures.
I agree - I have Tiger Woods all lonesome in Sports right now - but I might get a soccer or football game for company. Definitely!!!
True -- though it isn't like the App Store isn't already home to loads of copyright infringements, some of which still has't been pulled. (Duck Hunt anyone?) But themes could go through the same approval process, and anything Apple thinks is infringing, unless the designer can prove they are licensed to use those copyrighted images, Apple can reject on copyright grounds. Furthermore, ideally you wouldn't have to go through the App Store to get themes. Yeah, I've got a few loners. I think I'll just create an Unsorted folder to put them all in until I find mates for them.
iv been thinking it would be cool if apple would add another button near the home button.. and dedicate it to the camera. assuming ipod gets one.. and also allow us to map whatever program we want to it. more hardware i know.. but i did not want to bring up the ipod thread. figure id let it die.. as iso4 would have to support the mapping. chris.
Then just ignore the folder cap all together & do what you did before there was an option to create folders. Then again it's your own personal wish to have more functionality and that's not at all anal.
Lol wow....how is that conducive to a iOS 4 wish list? Oh I see, it's not and you were just trying to prove something by saying you wish for something rediculas as to say my opinions are just as outrageous. Awesome
well looksie what pop's up on the tech blog. looks like jobs has a way to make people buy his idevices next year... add more goodies. http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/18/sandisks-64gb-integrated-ssd-is-no-bigger-than-a-wafer-thin-min/ crazy how far that technology has come.. i love my thumb drive! chris.
