Are there any good Mystery/Crime/Detective RPG's out there? I wish they had a 16 bit style RPG about a modern day detective rising through the ranks of the police department until he cracks the big homicide cases. He could upgrade armor, weapons, and CSI type tools. He could solve puzzles and maybe even have turn based combat or interrogations.

Man, if I had the time to learn how to code...

Let me know if you run across anything like that please!

Adventure games, yes; RPGs, not so much.

I would have suggested waiting for Shadowrun Returns if you want a game that will have campaigns with this kind of gameplay, but the iOS version won't include the editor or ability to play custom campaigns. The PC version will, though, so it might be worth keeping an eye on.

Hi, I'm new here. I like playing ios game. Mostly like RPG. And I have spent over 2K just to be top.. I'm looking for a good population game and prefer no IAP.
Don't mind paying if its a good game. Just don't want to pay to win type of game.

    Any recommendation?

Can you define what a "population game" is or give examples? Do you mean a town management sim? If so Majesty might be worth considering (avoid the Northern Expansions due to IAP paywall) or some of the Kairosoft titles (i.e. Dungeon Story; they are no lose but fun). Rebuild is a good zombie survival town exploration/reclaim game with team management.

Dragon Knight IV and Bounty Hunter: Black Dawn both have good PvP components.

Ah... So basically, you're one of those pay2win customers. And now you want something different.

Not really, the game was design something like. If you don't buy then you won't have this super hero. And it's like wheel of fortune. You spend and try your luck. Someone able to pay 1$ and get it. Some few thousand also never get it.. :( Tired of the war

I would try Order & Chaos Online from Gameloft if you like WOW style Mmorpg. I played it for two years, it's a great game. I only stopped because of time constraints.

Order & Chaos is a good suggestion, also it's currently free for the month (?) through a promo code system at IGN. Link: http://www.ign.com/prime/promo/orderandchaos-free

  13. Pre-release Testers Required - R.P.G. (Universal iOS App)

    Morning,

Pre-release Testers Required - R.P.G. (Universal iOS App)

we're looking for about 20 knowledgeable, current or lapsed R.P.G. players, to "test and suggest" our upcoming iOS app.

The iOS app includes a well known 1980s R.P.G. game, in its near 100% original form and is scheduled for release in Aug '13.

Players with fond memories and a good knowledge of the genre and era are welcome to tell us about themselves their knowledge of 1980s R.P.Gs. by email to:

    [email protected]

Since the iOS app has not yet been announced, all involved will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement and retain all they learn about the iOS app, in confidence.

Feel free to re-post this message elsewhere and to spread the word about this opportunity.

    Regards - Steve Wilcox, Elite

I'm a little tied up to commit to testing. My memory of 1980s RPGs stretches from Infocom, Level 9, Magnetic Scrolls (is that correct? My addled memory is dredging up Anita somebody or other who ran the whole shebang), Twin Kingdom Valley and The Hobbit, amongst others.

Depends if you include text adventures as RPGs. Aside from those maybe Alternate Reality, Ultima series or Wasteland?

Look forward to the unveiling once you're ready for release.

That doesn't sound like a game, more like a money grinder.
I would much rather try my luck in a casino than play a "game" like that...

I don't see the attraction when there's so many great games on both iOS and every other gaming platform designed to be fun to play once I've payed the purchase price.

Hey RPG lovers, I'm getting antsy for Autumn and I want to tear into a good RPG that had an Autumnal setting or at least an area that resembles Autumn. Do you guys know of any? I've already got quite a few RPGs and I'm currently already playing Horn... but I've finished that first Autumn world. Any other 3d or even 2d games would be great. Thanks for your help!

Well, thankfully Costume Quest was released and brought with it Autumn AND Halloween! Now it's time to start looking for a good RPG to bring with me from now through Christmas. I'll probably play through Saturday Morning RPG episode 4 and Quest Lord again this year, but are there any other RPGs out there that weave either Christmas or Winter into them? Already also have Horn and Ravensword: Shadowlands and will get FFVI when it hits. But I'd love any other suggestions! Thanks

Sigh... been looking for old krpgs I may have overlooked since 2013 has pretty much NONE.

I'm so disappointed. We got a good one like SOL. But other than that I don't recall anything worthy to note. This is one of my favorite genres on iOS and it seems like the luster has faded. I remember when Zenonia used to be all the rage and we'd always wait for it to come out. Then with the new ones they screwed it up with too much online / freemium and now it seems almost every company has given up making them. Maybe because they think it's easier to make money on other types of freemium games. Sigh.
