It already has, at least for the iPad. Oh, and FFT is only 13 years old, and the PSP version only 3. .
I'm definitely getting a 3DS at some point. I'm trading in my 3GS towards the iPhone 4 at Radioshack so I only have to pay tax and the 18 dollar activation fee and that's 200 dollars saved right there
3DS has won, and will always win, just because of Nintendogs and Cats: The original Nitendogs sold 24 million copies worldwide at full price, when the sequel allows this to occur... Yeah, sorry but the mainstream has spoken and it's the 3DS.
It's like comparing apples and oranges (get it?) the 3DS is obviously 3D and the iPhone is not. You cannot compare them.
Lol this thread is a joke. the lambo one was meant that lambo=3ds and semi-trailer=idevice. The 3ds is like gsp and the idevices are like the hobos beside 7-11 lolol
You have to admit 63 third party games. some actually really good franchises. 7 first party games. Mario Kart, Kid Icarus, Ocarina of Time, etc. That is astonishing for launch titles.
Um... what is a lambo? And for that matter what is a gsp? I also wouldn't call the iPhone a "hobo beside 7-11".
It's an SRPG, so yeah, it's an RPG. But the fact is that I misunderstood what you wrote, because you put the s for plural in caps (as in RPGS). I would say Chaos Rings is a good JRPG. Aralon, which is coming around September, will be a good WRPG. Xenome, coming out soon, is a good take on the Fallout-style RPG. So I guess I disagree with you.
Lamborghini... okay well thanks. I would think the the iPhone4 is comparable to the Lamborghini and the 3DS to a Ford 4x4 truck. One has sheer power, but the iPhone is fast and look sexy as hell.
I think some of you, or maybe just everyone in this thread is not as visionary as me. Maybe there are slightly different markets, but there are the same developers and even more independent devs. And now look at those facts: .) iPhone is always on .) iOS device is always with you .) iOS devices have better screen quality, especially the iPhone 4 .) they have all the extra sensors needed: .) a grown up would never play in public with a nintendo. .) iOS Devices sold: over 100 Million. 3DS Sold: none. If I where a developer I'll rather make a AAA Titel on iOS Devices. And take a look at just a small amount of known companies and their games: .) Capcom (Resident Evil, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Street Fighter) .) Konami (DanceDanceRevolution S, DanceDanceDanceRevolution S+, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Krazy Kart Racing, Frogger, Silent Scope, bald auch Pro Evolution Soccer) .) Square Enix (Final Fantasy I & II, Chaos Rings) .) Gameloft (Assasins Creed, UNO, Avatar, Shrek Kart, Die Siedler, Driver, N.O.V.A., Tom Clancys H.A.W.X., Modern Combat, Brothers In Arms, Asphalt, Dungeon Hunter, Earth Worm Jim, Rayman, uvm ) .) Namco (Pacman, Time Crisis, Ace Combat, Ridge Racer, I Love Katamari, uvm ) .) EA (Need For Speed, Tiger Woods, FIFA, Madden, Tetris, Die Sims, SimCity, Spore, NBA Live, Skate It, Scrabble, Monopoly, Command & Conquer, uvm ) Couldn't this just be a hint, that Nintendo will lose marketshare because of this? I still believe, Nintendo 3DS won't sell as good as all of the other DS together. Or at least not as fast as back in the days, when they just had the PSP as a rival.
Are you saying that it's foolish to make games for the 3DS instead of the iPhone because it's not even out yet? There's more variables you didn't take into in account but I don't really want to have a back and forth argument about why handhelds are still relevant. I will say though that the iPhone has attracted a bunch of new casual gamers who have no interest in owning handhelds and that's perfectly fine
I think you stumbled onto an interesting point here. The iDevices are not just backwards compatible, but also forwards compatible. That means that people who still have iPod Touch 1st gens and the first iPhones are able to participate in and buy from the appstore. The 3DS, on the other hand, would be a completely new system. Yes, there is backwards compatibility for games from the original DS. However, it doesn't stretch forward, with who only have a DS able to to play 3DS games. To put it simply: iPod Touch 1, 2, 3, 4 iPhone 1, 2, 3, 4 ----Able to play past games and future games. (there are some games which only work well with newer iDevices...but that's a very rare occurrence and basically negligible. The point is, developers are still making games that work well for even the oldest devices.) Whereas: Gameboy Advance - Can play GBA and GB games Nintendo DS - can play DS and GBA games Nintendo 3DS - can play 3DS and DS games There is a market lost with each new iteration of a Nintendo device...while the iDevice market continues on. Now, knowing how Nintendo operates, companies will probably stop making games for the DS, effectively forcing people who want new games to get a 3DS. But think of how much money that is- and how many apps you could get with that. There is no pressing need to upgrade your iDevice if it works perfectly (unless you absolutely want some iOS 4 features). So....200 dollars that could be spent differently....and community that will have the strength of age and continued interest from many more developers than the 3DS. One more thing- I agree that the iDevices (iPod Touch included- lots of people carry their MP3 players with them) have a big advantage with their constant presence in our lives. I always feel very cautious and uneasy carrying my DS in my backpack (it could get crushed or something), and I definitely wouldn't put it in my pocket. I do, however, carry my iPod Touch with me all the time.
