Beyond FF IX?You guys want Gta 5 and Witcher 3 on iOS?How about wait for Apple to get their s...tuff together with all these game breaking updates. How about other OLD ports that we have not even seen on iOS yet such as Hitman series,Splinter cell,Half-life,Resident Evil, etc?
With all the FF and DQ titles ported i really am hoping for a Vagrant Story port. Would be fantastic to see Onimusha ported to iOS too, but... Capcom.
FF8 may or may not happen. The total file size is HUGE, and goes way past apple's limits, which is one of the reasons they skipped 8 and ported 9 first. At least that's what i read in other websites, and im not sure, but one of TA's articles may have mentioned it as well. Optimization to reduce file size without sacrificing output quality could mean a bigger task for whoever ports FF8. Let's just hope it actually happens. Of these 3 FF titles, i disliked the draw system of FF8 the most, but overall i would rate it above FF9 with FF7 as my top of these 3. As for Vagrant Story, it's among my favorite of all time, together with FF7, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Shadow of the Colossus.
Thanks! Honestly, does Apple even need to care about video games on the iOS market? Well, I'd imagine they get a fair share of revenue from there, but it sounds you're asking them to divert x amount of resources towards making their video game environment better for gamers and devs which would only yield them y amount of $, but those resources where they currently are yields them more $. Another poster mentioned the iOS vg market "imploding". If figured that's already happened when... 1) the iOS gold rush ended back around 2011 2) when devs had to go freemium 3) and many of the big boys who previously underestimated how prominent the iOS AppStore will be are now joining the fray. I read somewhere that the same situation of capitalism that exists with the US economy currently exists within the iOS AppStore... something like the majority of the profits (>51%) are made by the minority (<14%). It's already skewed out of whack
The problem is that Apple pretends that it cares and wants the $$$ of gamers . Even nvidia makes a small effort with games like doom 3 bfg, half life 2 , trine 2 e.t.c on its tablet . You don't see Samsung making huge presentations about the gaming capabilities of its phones/tablets , even though they match apple's .
Shadow of the Colossus with touch controls? That is a horrible idea, imo. Don't get me wrong, I loved the game, but Shadow of the Colossus was a frustrating game even with a controller. I can't imagine playing that game with touch controls.
Im sure there will be an intuitive way to translate it to touch, since 50% of the game is managing the camera, and the swipe cam controls in 3D games on touch are among the best when done correctly. If you thought SotC was frustrating to play, me on the other hand, thought it was perfectly implemented.
I wouldn't necessarily agree that Amazon Game Studios is a bust. More like Amazon's tablets are a bust so in order to make a profit on their very well-made games, they have to port to iOS. Their games have universally been well-received and well-made because unlike most other games, they pretty much work bug-free from the start. From Within hasn't even needed to be updated for bugs since its initial release, as an example.
