Not sure, all my photos are still here in the albums and folders I had them in before the update. The only thing I'm not liking now is game center the bright white screen is horrible, but on the up side it just means I can stick it in a folder (together with news stand yey) and never look at it again
Really like the update. Except the AppStore is absolutely horrid on my two iOS 7 devices. Many times it just doesn't do anything, none of the icon buttons work, it just sits there with a white page. And when I do get something and try to download, it seriously takes like 20-25 minutes before it asks for my password to download. It's kind of frustrating the AppStore has become almost useless. My iOS 6 iPod touch device works perfectly though with the AppStore. Anyone else experiencing AppStore issues with iOS 7?
The new Game Center is hideously designed. I never really used it, but started to within the last couple of weeks... now I think I'll go back to ignoring it again.
Yeah, I don't know what happened with me either! But you can imagine how you'd feel if really important stuff just isn't there now !! Oh, my God! For me this is just not to be believed!!!!!
If they are lost can't you just copy them back on from a backup? Surely people back up their important files before a major new is is installed? With apps like dropbox wtc there's no excuse to back up important files
Arrrgh ! I've tried a fair few games and they all seem fine, like you say this ones not though. I've messaged the dev about this to see if he'll do an ios7 compatible version. If anyone has issues with apps make sure you contact the dev
I really appreciate that on the Updates page in the app store it tells you the file size of each app. 7 seems to be working fine on my iPad 4 and iPod 5. Installing on the iPad failed at about 95% the first time and I had to use recovery mode but it eventually restored the backup I had just made, nothing lost. I updated the iPad through iTunes and the iPod via wifi.
Seriously. This. At least with my computer it asked me if I wanted to back up before I updated. I was like, "No" because I'm lazy and because I don't have anything important to lose. But if I had crucial things on there? I'd be backin' up, backin' up backin' up, cuz my daddy taught me good.
Some of the games that were retina are no longer retina in ios7. Weird. Like boost 2 , perfect cell, peggle hd (that was retina right??) etc. Then again I could just need sleep. maybe someone else can check it out too...
I didnt mean to be rude in my original post but honestly if you have important files you just cant afford to keep them on your phone forever. If someone stole my phone tomorrow it'll be bad but everythings backed up on iTunes and also all my important photos/videos on Dropbox. I learnt the hard way, my PC hard drive crashed years back and i hadnt backed it all up, had to spend a lot of money to a forensics place to recover the drive. I then bought an external drive - What happens ! That broke ! Had to recover that ! Now i just use Cloud services like Dropbox to backup everything.
Usage is alright with iPad 3, lower on my iPhone 4 even with all of the extra battery-killing options disabled. There are a couple of tests online with results suggesting it's lower on iPhone 5 as well. Charging time doesn't appear to have changed, not while in standby at least.
iPhone5: Updates from the App Store are NOT automatic in the background as advertised. In fact even with the option turned on, they're still very much manually required to update = pathetic attempt apple... What makes this worse is even after you've updated, the apps are still rotting in your update tab. Really apple? Did you even test this? Only game so far that doesn't work for me is my childhood treasured favorite "Space Ace" by Digital Leisures. Not only have they not updated this since 2010, but no response to my emails so far and this game is still available on the App Store. Very very annoying.
Love the new iOS, been with it since beta1 and its amazing, it has so many changes and additions that I never going back to other iOS and I have serious doubts about jailbreaking: its all here: better folders, better lockscreen, better icons, better UI, better everything,d control center,... and none of the lag from jailbroken devices.
Not that you need to hear this, but you're one of the few on TA that I don't think has ever been needlessly rude (myself sadly included ). As another "cautionary tale," my home was burglarized (in the midst of Grad School!) last year. Among what they took, they got FOUR laptops, multiple HDs, multiple iDevices, our TV/music streaming media center components... it was a data mess. My wife had recently completed her latest writing project (a novel). I have used my various iDevices, computers, and digital storage media for 15 years of school, photography & video projects (including many juried pieces), music recording and listening (100s of personal tracks/albums and many, many, many 1000s of tracks by other artists, both pros and friends), and retaining/converting digital memories (photos, video, etc.)... We lost virtually everything we owned with a chip in it, but we lost almost ZERO data, and with minimal (considering) scrubbing, almost no concerning identity leaks. The moral? If you have to ask about redundancy, you've never actually needed to ask. I keep a relatively simple structure utilizing at least triple redundancy, and depending on the project, often use services like GMail for further safeguarding, for example with something I'm in the process of writing or editing for publication. I didn't need more proof before last year, but I certainly got it. DBC
Was it the iOS7 update that was supposed to make iPhone games look better in x2 mode on iPad ? I haven't tried any yet but I'm sure I read something about something like that a while back.
