Anyone had a chance to try it out on iPad 2 yet? Curious if there are any major impacts on performance when it comes to games. I know, sort of, how the performance will be in regards to audio production apps etc (negligible negative impact on both ram and CPU, but way better audio handling). But not games, which is the second thing I use the iPad for obviously. I'd hate to update and have Asphalt 8 stutter/having lower FPS right now.
Yea more apps in one folder was badly needed on my phone too lol But as mentioned it does show less apps per screen which gives it all a cramped feeling, I wish they could squeeze at least another row in there
If you use three fingers you can clear three at a time! Been playing around with iOS 7 on my 4S this morning. Had to change my home screen wallpaper to get a look that I like with the new transparency stuff. Not sure if it's just me but things seems easier to read. Swiping up to get access to the torch, timer and camera (and a few other bits) is a very handy feature. Overall, liking the changes. Now time to update the iPad!
I like the torch ! Shame you cant drag it onto your screen to make it an actual app. At night i always use my iphone as a basic torch so i dont wake the baby when i'm going to bed etc. Was somehow hoping Airplay would be available on iphone 4 but nope. But so far all good
I have two questions: Why has Apple seen fit to impose this Barbieland Candyfloss aesthetic upon me, and how can I get things looking as closely back to normal as possible?
Informative arstechnica article on iOS 7 performance/features on iPhone 4: http://arstechnica.com/apple/2013/09/new-lease-on-life-or-death-sentence-ios-7-on-the-iphone-4/ Definitely a worthy read if you are using an iPhone 4.
I think the (Settings/General/Accessibility) 'Increase Contrast' or 'Reduce Motion' options are supposed to help minimize the new look somewhat....
While i'm not wild on the new aesthetic, the overall OS is a delight to use with lots of great new features. Definitely change the background.
I must admit it came out at 6pm here in the UK, i had lots of problems trying to update, had a look online and people were having lots of the same issues. Tried again at 11pm GMT and it installed fine, took a while to download the update, then install it but all worked well. Think its much better now to try and install it, yesterday obviously on release millions were trying and no doubt that caused issues.
Oh, man, I'm not digging this at all! Went against my better judgement and downloaded it last night, and it only took a little over 15 minutes, but I wish I didn't. Right away, so many things I don't like about it! Now my iPad seems like a Fischer Price toy-the way it looks all kiddy-like and cartoony! At this point to me it sucks! Totally ruined my photos and videos, too. It uses this 'moments' to dissect your albums and I hate the way it does it! Now I can't even find my important videos I had downloaded and it seems they're gone! I can't replace them or duplicate them and if they're gone, I'm gonna kill someone! The whole interface in general just seems like a couple steps backwards for me even regardless of the new features. I hate the way the app folders look and now instead of seeing all the apps on one screen, you have to scroll through several screens in your folder to see them instead of the way it was before all on one page. I don't wanna hafta scroll through pages INSIDE a folder to see what I got for crying out loud! So many other things I don't like I could write a huge wall of text assailing each thing that bothers me! Even little things like when you have your keyboard up and want to capitalize, they replaced the blue arrows which was easy to see at a glance, now it's just black. Anyway, I don't have time now to write down everything I'm thinking about here. Just so pissed off at myself for not waiting before updating this time!
Make sure to turn off the new location services they have on by default (I think popular near me, and frequent locations were two I had to blast off on my iPhone and ipad that were on). Not sure if that will help or not, but worth a try. I was surprised on my i5, as it held well above 80% on standby overnight, and usually it doesn't do quite that well. For me it feels like the battery is performing better on ios 7.
