I updated four devices (two phones and two iPads) and had this issue on every single one of them. On my ipad it took literally 30 tries before it went through finally, and on my wife's it only took a few. Just keep trying and be patient, it will let you through eventually.
Swipe up on the card (not the app icon, the box/card above it). You can even clear two apps at a time.
Been trying to install it for 3 hours and can't now my battery is below 50% and it won't let me try anymore unless its plugged in....sigh. Guess I will have to wait till later tonight hopefully it will work.
After a lot of headache and heartbreak, I finally got it to start downloading. And then watched the estimated download time creep to one hour, then two, then ten, then twenty-five... finally killed it at 31 hours. I'd be better off waiting several days. (And yet, like a masochist, I'll try again in a couple of hours, just in case... sigh)
I had the same problems first I tried to install it from my iPod Touch 5th Gen with no luck but then I updated my iTunes and installed the update from my computer and I finally have it! Gonna take a lot of getting used to it looks nice hopefully all of my games will play ok and the 3gb of other will go away.
as an iPad2 owner who's using ios 6.x is there any reason for me to update to 7.0? I guess any 'new' features won't work on my obsolete (according to them) machine?
I don't understand the attitude in posts like this. Are you suggesting your ipad2 isn't pretty obsolete? Do you honestly expect apple to manage to get features designed to work on hardware 4 times or more as powerful as the ipad2 to work for you? Trust me, even if they could get them to you wouldn't want to use them at the speed they would function. I own an ipad2 as well as a mini. I haven't decided about putting ios7 on them but I certainly don't resent apple moving forward. They aren't going to stop working anytime soon either way... Having said that, I bet there are some new features that will work fine on the older iPads. Personally I love the look of ios7 and if there's no performance issues I'd update just for that. I hate the fake wood and felt texture crap...
Not all of us have money trees in our backyard or rich familys. My ipad2 was a birthday present from ALL my family, they all saved and paid for it so yes.. I get annoyed when a £500 present is considered 'obsolete' after only a year and half by the makers and asshats like you who just says 'hey... go and buy the new one!' £500 is a fortune to my family, thats why it took 6 of them to save for MANY months to buy it.
Believe me, I'm not rich. I appreciate what you are saying. The ipad2 is more than a year and a half old though, and it's not going to stop working now that ios7 is out. It'll continue working just fine FTP. Of course you won't be able to run Infinity Blade III on it very well if at all but that's just reality. Technology moves forward...
I'm enjoying it Tried all my non jail broken emulators and all work fine. It's also great putting tons of games into one nested folder. So far so good
