That's what I'm talking about! I like you, Appletini. You're a wise-ass know-it-all, but you do it well. I respect that. You give some great answers.
Yeah it probably is device specific because i searched the web (when I first noticed it) and couldn't really find anyone else talking about. I even made a post at macrumors. Hundreds of views but only one other person saying retina was gone. Anyway when I upgraded to 7 i did erase/set up as new device. I've tried everything I can think of besides erasing everything again. I guess if the dev says all is fine of his end I'll just do it again. Hopefully I don't lose my photos again (ugh... But that's another story.)
Updated and/or new apps. They removed the "new" sticker and replaced it with a blue dot. Much better if you ask me. ----- Whaaat...couple of new pages appeared after that post. So nevermind the above
Interesting that you all have auto-updating iOS versions. Mine just sit there patiently waiting for to click install.
As far as I've seen, nobody has reported automatic installation of iOS7. I've only seen reports of users who have had the update download automatically. They still have the option of whether to install or not, but the decision is weighted upon whether the unwanted download will continue to hog necessary memory, if not installed. If at some point when that space is needed, the download goes away, it's no big deal. Otherwise, it's an issue.
This is my take on the issue, and it is purely speculation on my part. I have mentioned it before, but it is not an every ipad 3 thing. There are many different versions of ipad 3. The main change to ipad 3 arose over disputes with samsung causing apple to go with different vendors for the screen (LG) and the processor. Essentially all the ipad 3 versions are all the same, but many of the components are made by different manufacturers, so for example, a cpu, gpu, or screen, or other parts made for the ipad 3 have different id codes. So I have a feeling that the late models of ipad 3 (after the big samsung separation) were correctly id'd so they worked ok. I have a feeling that the ipad 3 models that were purchased on release were prone to the ipad 3 retina issue. But if not, it may just depend which manufacture parts one happened to get. So basically I think what ios version 7.0.2 did was add more device ids (cpu, gpu, screen,or whatever) to the ipad 3 recognizer field. So hence why some ipad 3 owners see it and why some don't, and how this whole thing would slip though apple's testing program. Anyway, this is just my theory. And it seems fixed, let us know if you upgraded to ios 7.0.2, and try to close all programs in the multitask bar, and power off with a hard boot. If it doesn't work, let me know. Boost 2 after ios 7.0.2 is working fine for me now, full ipad retina glory.
Mm-hmm, this is all my response to Connector's claim has ever been: there has simply been no significant noise suggesting that Retina graphics being disabled was an unavoidable iOS 7 bug affecting third-gen iPads. We definitely would have heard about the issue from all quarters if it had been even remotely common, but we've only seen this particular complaint from a couple of people in total since iOS7 hit, and certainly too few to point to this being an inherent issue with the operating system itself. In this case of Boost 2 it seems then that it may just be the all-too-familiar situation of an outdated app causing issues, which the developer will need to address if so. There's a strong likelihood that you did nothing wrong, and that there's nothing you can do to fix it on your end, something that somehow manages to be simultaneously reassuring and irritating. ^_- Well, in my own case I can confirm that neither iOS 7 itself nor the 7.0.2 update downloaded or installed automatically on my iPad: both of these had to be applied manually.
It autodownloads, not auto installs. I had this happen on day one, and it seems that many now are reporting it, there is even a new thread about it. That is the only reason why I updated was to regain the 1.5 gb that I lost. I was going to wait til 7.1. And then boom, got hit with that weird ipad 3 graphics issue, etc. So was a very unhappy camper, cause over 50/150 games that I tested had problems. But after ios 7.0.2, it is running pretty well now. Maybe 10 games or so that seem to have problems, some like plasma sky got fixed in one day after I reported it to the developer. Volbard told me that it was the icade startup causing the crash, which was interesting cause of the new apple joystick protocols. Blazing star crashes too, so I wonder if it has the same issue. Anyway, I mentioned before a couple of times, that many games actually play better now like iphone only games, vector graphic games, 3d looking background games, some new textures, and also some games actually seem to have better framerates now. I think by ios 7.1 many of the kinks will be worked out, and since it seems like we are kinda being forced to upgrade indirectly, but in the end, I think for things like apple joystick support and specific ios 7 game updates, it will make sense to upgrade except for the jailbreakers and maybe really old devices. Anyway, seems like Apple can probably just keep autodownloading ios 7 to your device, so it maybe a lost cause to stay unupgraded. Just wished personally they would have waited until ios 7.1 to force this autodownload. I did not wish to upgrade this early. But anyway, now that I almost feel like a beta tester for apple, at least alot of the kinks are being worked out.
Utterly unnecessary nonetheless. Almost as useless as that page reminding me of all the apps I updated... yesterday. I wish I could turn off both of those features. What a waste.
If you were jailbroken you would not even get notified of the update, let along have it autodownload. I'm glad for that since it sounds like iOS 7 isn't too good on an iPhone 4. When I have the funds I'll upgrade to a 5c or 5s. Hopefully by then it is jailbroken too.
Lots of posts were deleted as it was just people getting into a super geek argument. Come on people this is about ios 7.02, not about the Middle East situation or something else controversial. Since i've installed ios7 looking at my usage my Mail app is 232 meg ? Theres no mail in there (everythings downloaded onto my PC), nothing in trash folders. Why is this app so high ?
You've clearly never been over to Mac Rumors, or you'd know that iOS 7 is a much bigger and more important issue than any trifling "Middle East" nonsense.
I actually love both these features. Having a little blue dot is quite addicting and makes me actually want to test out the app, rather than just updating it and seeing what happens throughout the year And I love the update feed. Especially if I have automatic downloads on, it is nice to have a summary of all the updates that occurred, what changed, and all that jazz. Way easier than going to each individual app on the App Store to see the change log.
I'm more upset with the stupid Podcast app. Used to use this a ton to download all my podcasts etc, now been spending lots of time searching/adding all my favourites to another app Since ios7 i keep getting 'download error: retry ?' everytime a podcast reaches the end, eg if a files 20 meg it'll get to 20 meg, wait a second and say download error Looking at forums and the apps feedback everyone else is having this issue. Very frustrating
Anyone know how to lower the volume of keyboard clicks? I've tried changing it with "Change with Buttons" both on and off but it remains stupidly loud regardless. I'm sure it's about double the volume it was in iOS 6.
Just installed.. Just installed ios7 on my ipad as for some stupid reason it had auto downloaded the update and it was eating space on my ipad. First thoughts.. OMG WHAT IS THIS CRAP!! Seriously its like going back 10 years, flat bland icons, no dropshadows. It really looks terrible indeed. I'm looking for a 'use original style' option in the settings but can't find one. This truly is hideous and bland looking.
