Looks like it is a security upgrade more than anything else, guess i will upgrade, but why, again, are all updates autodownloading? I never really wanted to upgrade til 7.1, and kinda got forced to because it autodownloaded, is there a way to turn autodownload off?
There has to be a way to turn it off, but I can't find it anywhere in settings. Maybe it can only be turned off in iTunes? Neither my phone or iPad ever download the updates without me telling them to, whether they're connected to Wi-Fi or cellular. Anytime I get a software update, it always has the "Download and Install" option as opposed to yours, where it only says "Install."
Yeah, there must be a way to turn autodownloading off. If anyone knows, please post. Wow. Ios 6.0.2 does something more than just security fixes... The mysterious ipad 3 non retina (actually it may not be a retina issue, could be textures, reduced effects, or whatever) problem seems to be addressed, will come back here with comments. Blood roofs and tabletop racing look pretty good now. But gotta test more games... Really good news for ipad 3 owners!!! Update was fast, micro update, very highly recommend for ios 7.0 users to go to 7.0.2, but still recommend other users who are on 6.1.3 to stay until 7.1, but that's just my recommend. Gonna see if there are any other changes. Wasn't expecting the ipad 3 non retina problem to get fixed this update. So coolness... Again, I am not sure if this is just an ipad retina problem, textures, or whatever, just glad it was fixed.
Wowzers!!! Ios 6.0.2 seems to have fixed the ipad 3 non retina bug... Tried Tabletop Racing Blood roofs Banana Kong Ronin Boost 2 And many many others, are running on ipad retina now on the ipad 3, and the stuttering and framerate problems are gone. I kind of suspected before that ios 7 was somehow messing with the ipad 3 being read as an ipad retina device for many games, and they were running as an ipad 2. In fact, that is what it seemed like, my ipad 3 was magically transformed into a non retina ipad 2. Well, now it is back! Boy, retina is so wonderful to see. This is sure gonna change my perspective on ios 7 alot. Changing wallpapers still seems as slow as hell, still only stupid 9 apps per folder view, but heck, at least ipad 3 retina issues seem to be repaired!!! Woohoo!
Answer to ^^^^ Yeah 9 apps per PAGE of a folder though now. So you can mix and match and have multiple pages in a folder ad infinitum. I like that much better, plus you get to actually see the icon now! Seems like a can't win situation - when there was one page per folder everyone was upset the icons were little. Now the icon is bigger and everyone is complaining there are "only" 9 icons a page. :/
All I know is that before, I could fit every single default app into one folder, and view them all at the same time. Now I've got a bunch of pages and have to remember where each one is.
Of course, I think everyone loves the endless folders, that is one of the best parts of ios 7. But it would just be nice to have an option to have two ways to display, one the current 9 icons per folder, and one the old 20 icons per folder like in ios 6. Also, would be nice to have backgrounds (landscape), not zoom in, so one can use pictures and the such as their backgrounds, I know again as you say that it is a can't win situation cause they wanted to go with that new motion and scaling stuff, but it would be nice to again have an option to turn off motion and everything, and allow static landscape backgrounds not zoomed, so people can use pictures and what they see is what they get on backgrounds, not zoomed in. But anyway, this ios 7.0.2 update did wonders for ipad 3 owners, or at least me, and that was the main concern for me, so now I am sure my impressions of ios 7 will change alot.
after turning off wifi autodownload update will stop and after that just don't press software update option...
But then portrait would zoom instead. The only way to avoid zooming completely is with my method. You just need to find an image where the center is the main focus point, that looks good when cropped in either direction.
All that turns off is the app updates though, not the iOS downloads. I have the automatic app updates turned on, but I still have to manually download every iOS update. It has to be a different setting somewhere.
That's pretty messed up, imo. I understand that they want you to do the upgrade, but forcing it upon you (or at least forcing you to do it or lose space), is unfair. People didn't buy those devices with iOS7 on them, they shouldn't be punished if they choose to stay on iOS6.
However, that still doesn't explain why Connector is getting pushed the bug-fix updates like 7.0.2. He had already updated to 7, so he's not a holdout.
Someone in the comments section of that iOS7 Holdout Updates article is claiming that the download will get dumped if that space is needed for something else. Not sure if it's true or not, but one of you may be able to test it.
Yeah, the blue dots suck. Especially when they turn your app name into stuff like "Li...hat". Actually, iOS 7 has done that to one of my apps even without the blue dot. I swear it didn't happen on iOS 6 so the font change must have nudged it over by a single pixel or something equally as stupid.
