IOS, so I unknowing of the negitive effects, made the mistake to upgrade by iPad 1 to IOS 5.1.1, which made it super slow. I don't want to make that mistake again. So... Should I upgrade by iPhone 5 to iOS 7! Will it slow down? Thanks for any help.
For me, no. If you're a hardcore gamer who has an iPhone/iPad/iPod just for gaming, no. Just upgrade until you games support iOS 7.. (I'm not sure though, I've never tried trying a game with an unsupported iOS version).
I will give it a whole month before I decide to upgrade, and let any bugs iron out that people discover. Or other problems people experience. If everything seems okay. I will upgrade.
According to a pretty reputable source on YouTube and another person I saw most likely around 5pm EST.
I'll wait awhile and see how things shake out. This is the only downside I see with iOS gaming. Makes me wonder how many games in my library will work down the road.
You do realize that the keynote event is over, right? There were no iPads or iPods announced. Only the iPhone 5China and 5S.
Well crap looks like I was wrong, people are saying they said iOS7 drops on the 18th at the keynote. I don't know though,I didn't see it
Yeah, if you google iOS 7 release date you will see all the major sites reporting that iOS 7 will be launching September 18th.
If you're using your iDevice for important things, work related things, projects (of any kind), I'd wait for 7.1. I'm using my iPad as a music production device, housing both DAW(s) and other professional grade applications. And word from the really big boys, like Steinberg (and other devs saying wait for 7.1, hinting at possible standing bugs in the final version of 7) is to hold of on upgrading to 7 if you want everything working, not losing projects etc. Now, I'm gonna take an uneducated very educated guess and say that applies to everything, not just music related things. So, before time runs out, upgrade your iDevice to the latest version of iOS 6, do a backup after that. And wait. My phone I'm gonna upgrade right away probably, but not any device with more importand things on it.
I remember when I upgraded my first two iTouches to a new firmware. They didn't run very well at all past that. (iTouch 2 -> iOS 4, iTouch 4 -> iOS 6). I'm going to hesitate updating my iTouch 5 next Wednesday because I don't want it's performance to drop at all. Anybody been beta testing iOS 7 on the iTouch 5 and can tell me how it runs?
Maybe. I just got a response from "someone" that waiting on _all_ devices would be a really good idea. So I'm not so sure anymore on upgrading my iPhone either, which is basically only used to phone, msg, games and light web surfing. I'll try and hold of to 7.1 (which is most likely the "big" update iOS 7 is in need of). But at the same time I'm just a sucker for new tech, wether it be a new operating system on the phone or a completely new phone lol
I've got two devices so i'll upgrade on one, make sure most of my games work and then upgrade my main device. When i upgraded from, must have been ios 4-5 a lot of games wouldnt work for a long time, eventually updates sorted most of them but i dont want to upgrade to ios7 and find my favourite (old) apps just wont work and theres no chance of the dev ever updating them as they're so old or the devs quit iOS gaming. I do love the look of the new os though so i am looking forward to it. Currently freeing up some space for the update when that comes through next week
Ha ha well i will put it on one device and i'll let you know how i get on. I do think with a lot of systems like this as others have pointed out its best to wait for 7.01 as there'll be some issues. But i trust Apple will be quick with any updates 'if' there are problems with compatibility. I've got an iphone and ipod 5th gen, i'll update my ipod as i've got (ahem) 500 games on there so i'll try a fair few out (and hope some favourites like Awesome baby names/Gridlee still work !) Roll on next tuesday !
