That might be how it operates in theory, but there is no indication whatsoever from my experience that such is true. A device that is idling retains much more power than one that has applications running in the background, from what I've seen. And I've got a 3rd Gen device (256 MB RAM) that often holds six or eight applications running at a time without any progress lost, so that middle bit of yours is questionable.
Landscape orientation lock on iPhone (cannot understand why it is Portrait only), great for watching online video, especially iPlayer. Wireless syncing. Sync app states, great for backing up game saves. Ability to take songs off a device without syncing to help free space for loading content. Ability to set alerts according to time of day. For example audio alerts for new mails during the day, but silent at night.
I'm sure it'll have a revolutionary feature that will please everyone, like multitasking, or putting apps in folders, or push notifications. But the only real reason I ever update my OS is for game support. Folders are convenient, but now that I have my apps in there, I never play half of them. Multitasking is clunky at best. I'd update if they overhauled the AppStore and Safari though. There's no reason you shouldn't have a list of purchased apps available on device. And I can't stand how Safari auto reloads a page every time you switch tabs. Give the iPad a gig of RAM like it deserves. Oh and the ability to only sync certain things from iTunes, without having to transfer 30+ gigs of content over.
Not all apps are compatible with multitasking. Hot Springs Story and Game Dev Story, for example, will reboot the app when you switch back-- losing any progress you made after saving.
Exactly why I said "without any progress lost." Implying that the apps I am running do, in fact, support multitasking.
I'd like the ability to share songs with friends on the go. Like if my friend and I both have an iTouch and I want to share a song I have on my iPod with him so we can both listen to it, there should be a way to do it easily. I've heard the Zune has that feature, so why not the iPhone?
are you steve jobs? jk i'd like more customization, like different icon options, sliding lock templates, keyboard colors, etc.
A way to access Bluetooth and wifi without leaving home screen. Swipe top of phone for menu to pop up would be great.
1. Zune is subscription based, they aren't charging you on a song by song basis. 2. Unless this has changed a song shared between Zunes can only be played 3 times over 3 days, after that it's rendered useless. 3. Headphone splitters exist or you could just use the built in speaker. Both of these options are completely DRM free.
I want different power mode settings, it's annoying to have to keep turning everything off manually, I want to just be able to switch modes. Be able to customise icons, text alert sounds, ring tones and all that stuff without third party software. Remodel of the app market store cause it sucks. Flash support
This would actually be a pretty good idea if Apple did that. I mean, for any product, the modding community is a reflection of what people want that isn't available. So copying the JB community would remove the whole first step of generating ideas. I'm surprised multiple people want FB connect in GC. It's bad enough that half the games shove an FB, Twitter, or other logo in my face everytime I play (not to mention "rate me" popups and "more games" links pasted all over too). I swear, sometimes I feel like I just paid the dev so I could have the privilege of advertising for them. The last thing I'd want to see is for GC to take this route.
