thanks once again backtothis ,i panicked when i'd thought i'd lost everything but you help ALOT with that information. as far as my apps. i can reinstall them thru icloud but will lose all of my game saves? do i have to start all over?
What do you mean? If you just restore from backup, all the save files will still be there. All your folders will even be there.
everything ok but the apps. i don't know why but they were not saved to files. i'll have to reinstall all 170 apps. the good part is i don't have to repurchase the games.
You're saying even after restoring all your apps (90 min. process for 30 GB of apps), your save files are not there when you launch the apps?
yes, but only for the games for some weird reason. i really don't mind on some games but games like gun bros. lost 143 warbucks & 400,000 gold coins. infinity blade games like that where as i've lost a lot.will be kind of a bummer to replay.
I had similar problems with some apps while I know the data was there because sometimes the apps could actually see it but not access it. I just resorted to removing the apps completely and resyncing them. Deleting them seemed to remove the data I couldn't access and give me the space back although did mean I did have to download a 5gb Wikipedia database again. It just seems to me that the whole update was very badly done and I think Apple should have just left the apps alone and made it a standard update I can't see any real purpose behind them being wiped.
Interesting, I had no problems at all installing iOS to either my iPod 4 or iPad 2, which both had about 30 GB of apps.
i was having huge problems with my phone prior to getting io5. my phone wouldnt sync and resetting it wouldnt work and finally a few days later when it did update it would say no service after inputting that data when u first boot up io5 so i was very parnoid to say the least my phone company was baffled so they got me a new phone i updated it and got my last backup from a week before and was good to go. old saves and everything were still there
I really like the notifications on the lockscreen it combines brilliantly with beejiveIM and my mail. I can leave the iPod sitting in my Radio/Alarm dock and when I get an instant message or email it briefly wakes with it on the screen and keeps a nice little list with messages and times. The only thing I don't really like is I still get the annoying 20% battery warnings in the usual way although my battery seems to last longer as well now.
now everything seems to be in order of all my games (with game data intact) the problem is i'd had to download everything from the app. store all the games i'd purchased before had install next to them. did that & everything is casual now. weird , very strange. the bad a few of the games i could'nt reinstall because they were no longer available.
Hit 500 friends today after having only 160 last Wednesday on GC. Deleting people takes f**king forever. Definitely not approving any more people that I don't know. Edit: Took me 30 minutes to get down to 427 friends. Can't do this anymore. Insane waste of time, lmao.
i know what you mean lately i've been quite a number of friend requests, which is strange as i've not done any online gaming since last monday. it reached the point where as i was getting a few a day.
I hope it doesn't take me five hours this time I'm curious about the over the air updating so I'll probably give it a shot. edit: Seems to have worked and took me about ten to fifteen minutes which is still really slow compared to every other device I've ever updated but still it's a lot better than the five hours IOS 5 took me. Noticed it rebooted a couple of times during which always worries me a little but everything seems to have went ok.
any issues with the update? im on 4.3.5 gen 3 ipod... the last time i was a early adopter to a upgrade it was full of issue with my gen 2 ipod.. is it safe to install? or should i wait for a few more weeks. and another update.. of 5.xx chris.
I haven't noticed anything myself but I have read a few things about it actually making the battery worse for some people on various sites. So far I can't see a difference on my iPod at all from 5. I'd say to stay at 4.3.5 as you aren't really missing very much and the upgrade to 5 was horribly long for me, unless you badly want wifi syncing, notifications or icloud and have a whole day to devote to updating.
ok thanks, yeah i do not need them options right now. ill stick with what it has now till games demand 5.x chris.
Guessing you don't have much storage space or apps then. But yeah thirty minutes is still terrible I could install windows at least twice on fresh machines in that time. To update a phone should take at most a couple of minutes. On another note I've now disabled wifi sync while it worked ok for me it's a complete nuisance and constantly opens itunes on my pc which I wanted to see less. I'm also pretty sure it's been able to crash my router twice which is usually absolutely rock solid and never needs to be rebooted. Truthfully IOS 5 and even 5.01 just seem to be rushed the only real improvement is notification centre in my opinion.
