Did it seriously just take all of my apps out of their folders and make me reorganize all of it? What kind of garbage is that.
I noticed I could make mine crash on the cover mode screen everytime which never happened before, but I used mp3tag to have a look at my coverart and discovered one was actually using a 2mb image file it seems to be working ok now I've changed the art to a smaller sized one. Apart from that I'm pretty happy with IOS 5 so far but I think this shows it's a little more buggy than 4.3.5 was but I really put this down to it having to use more memory.
Holy crap, games sync so fast now. Just synced Galaxy Pirate Adventure (665 MB) into only 710 MB of free space on my 4th gen. iPod in 25 seconds. Was expecting it to take minutes.
Yeah I just realized this as well, putting a couple huge file size games back on my iPod, and they really didn't take but a minute to put on there combined. I was impressed. Plus I absolutely love that you can still do things with your ipod now while it's syncing. GENIUS.
I updated my iPad2 last night. It took a while to download that 700MB file but after that the installation did its initial stuff in less than an hour. Then it set about reinstalling nearly 60GB worth of apps so I left it and went to sleep. When I finished it off this morning (iPad side) it had restored all my folders just as I had them before. However (checking PC side), unless I'm mistaken it has consumed about a GIGABYTE of the free space I used to have, and taken my yellow "other stuff" usage from 66MB to 80MB. (Maybe it decided to install one of my "I'll get to it sometime" Gameloft games or something but so far I haven't spotted anything like that.) Anyone else have this?
A friend has an iPhone and his dad has an iPad. Is there a way for them to selectively download their respective music/apps/etc from iCloud/wireless syncs?

I've noticed a big decrease in battery life actually. I'm running the iphone 4. It was really bad at first. I googled how to fix it and found that I should reset the network settings as well as turn off a few things and that helped a bit.
It wouldn't play any of my music till I removed it and resynced all of it. And, it would only sync all apps or nothing. So, I could basically go through and load 250 apps by hand to my iPhone, or well... That's pretty much it, as it informed me that it couldn't fit all 1600 apps it found in iTunes on my phone. No idea why it simply couldn't inherit my phones settings. That would make too much sense. This pita cost me about 11 hours by the time everything was said and done. And I still have two iPod touches and an iPad 2 to do. I think I'll be putting it off for a while. With this lates fiasco, I'm giving serious thought to keeping the iPads for gaming, but moving to android for my phone. It's just not worth this much hassle.
This update has had some issues (the update process), but at least in theory, once you are updated to iOS 5 that will no longer happen since updates are incremental and sent over the air. Of course it remains to be seen how well it works in practice.... I'm anxious for the first update to happen just so we can see how it works and how well it works. We didn't have a lot of problems ourselves, with two iphones (a 4 and 3GS) and an iPad 2. The only real problems was that for some reason it decided to sync stuff back into my wife's 3GS that weren't there before and that filled it up and then when it tried to copy the music over it couldn't fit. I had to remove that stuff (mostly videos) and then the music all synced back without incident. Also the update process was a tad confusing because it didn't show that it was doing anything on the phone, only in iTunes. So I wasn't sure if it was working and in the case of my iPhone I actually stopped it and started it over. The good thing is that it seemed to just pick up where it left off and then when I just let it go even though nothing looked like it was happening on the phone, it worked fine.
Was just messing with a browser benchmark I saw people testing the Iphone 4s with on another site (This page) and I got a pretty weird result according to that site my Ipod is faster than not only the 4s but also ipad2 and basicly every other mobile device. Of course I know it's the site not being accurate (or possibly my fast broadband helping) but still it makes you wonder about all the claims from the various tech sites.
Another cool thing about iOS 5: you can now delete games that you're downloading/updating. No more limbo state.
i do not have a ios device at this time in working order.. my ipod gen 2 has met its maker in the electronic world.. where solder, and water get along.. anyhow, i really wish itunes had a emulator built in so i could open up some of my old apps.. anyhow, iv been trying to be honest witn my self with this whole siri thing.. and iv been playing with googles version.. which is not as refined but still really good.. should be interesting to see if Siri gives google a kick in the pants to move along there version of it pass beta.. SHOCK, i know its google.. its always in beta.. but whatever i can dream.. anyhow.. today i found a use for siri that I think i would use... . it would come in handy to pull up guitar charts, diagrams of scales and chords, tabs, when practicing. always bugged me i had to take my hands off the guitar to get to the data i wanted.. with Siri this is would not be a issue i think.. with a ipad.. siri could have a nice tool set and if apple opens up the api coders could put this right into there guitar apps .. granted i would still like some kind of foot pedal to do some basic things for example to turn the pages move sheet music from page to page during a time when you cant talk to your phone. hah.. anyhow.. this came to mind, so thought id throw it out there to some of you guys who maybe thinking what the hell could you do with siri .. lets face it.. im already bored with the easter eggs they coded into it.. and i just watched a hand full of videos on it.. so that aspect the novelty of it.. it will not last longer the 5 mins for most folks id imagine.. or maybe a couple of beers at a party with some people ( ok, i would make some kind of drinking game.. but thats just the nerd in me trying to be cool. laughs ) who have not used it yet or seen it yet. i will be staying up tonight to watch googles thing on the nexus prime.. hope they do not let me down and the phone is not locked down.. p.s i think a lot of people will use the search the internet function of it too.. it sucks trying to type long search phrases on the small keyboards if you have small hands. also each year the star trek communicator is looking outdated.. never evet thought that we would have a device that was not sci-fi.. cool stuff. chris.
Just click restore from backup..You can manually choose which backup to load sync into your iPod from your past 5 backups.
