Could someone please tell me how to sync over wifi. I can't seem to get it to work, so I must be doing something wrong. Also, are you able to do it without plugging your device into a power supply?
Finally downloaded and installed iOS5. Restored from backup... Only... None of the apps... Nothing except for the name of the iPhone is what it was before I updated. What went wrong? I lost everything... Am I doing something wrong?
Does it bother anyone else that they allow you to change your Apple ID to a non-email name, but then it can't be used w/ either Find My iPhone or iCloud? Why even allow that option then?
V Kuolema: Do you still have your device plugged in? Does it say it is restoring from backup yet? It takes time, quite a bit of time. Patience is a virtue and such. Also, once it starts restoring app after app, don't start moving things around on your device. It will put everything neatly back in folders and in order, but as soon as you move something while it's still busy it won't be able to do that anymore and everything gets put onto your device in order of what gets restored from backup first.
I didn't touch anything... It said restoring, etc. Then finished, but had restored nothing except for contacts and photos. Music and apps aren't there. I had to end up just going to sync apps... And it seems like only the apps I had on are being loaded...But just as pages and pages and I had everything meticulously sorted. I don't know what I did wrong to end up this way. I hope to god all the save data and that is intact...
It's just like android phones! And Windows phones! And many other phones! It's so revolutionary! Just like wireless syncing! Wow! /sarcasm. Still haven't upgraded from vanilla 4.0. I just don't feel like messing with iTunes for hours on end (it happens every time for me) is worth it.
I have the same problem I'm not sure what to do im trying to sync the apps back on now but it looks like I'm going to lose game saves, plus all my music is gone and i really don't want to have to go back through and recreate playlists.
Just found that out too! Pretty cool, really. It's too bad I can't sync to my computer wirelessly because my desktop does not support wifi, but thats alright. Jesus, syncing all 29 GB of apps and music will take a while though.
Well everything is working now in iOs 5.0 except the ipod part, which is now fail. Half my songs play, half of them don't. Synced, re-added them, the works. It appears iOs 5.0 wasn't tested with the ipod feature = wtf apple idiots!?
The only new feature I wanted really was the notification bar I've no interest in the cloud stuff at all. That's alone is not worth spending a whole day restoring and re-encoding music for me. I've also read some 3gs users complaining of the battery draining very fast I'd like to know more about that before I touch my Ipod so I'm holding off indefinitely. I just woke up and Error 3200 is still trending on twitter and seems to be getting at least 20 tweets a second so right now I'd hold off updating unless your prepared for a long haul.
Installed on iPhone and first no apps were there, had to connect again and it asked me if I want to continue installing apps. Now folders are gone, but saves are still there. But I am not really eager to install it on iPhone, those saves are much more important to me. But then, the saves should be in the backup file, should'nt they?
Here's a cool feature I found: If you download a NEW game (or app, I guess) and there isn't enough space, you will keep the icon on your springboard! It will come up with a progress bar, and when you tap, it tries to resume. The thing is, this only works for new apps - not for ones you downloaded previously, or from iCloud. Still, a damn nice feature. Like so (two apps on the bottom): (click to enlarge)
Installed iOs 5 last night. To be honest it was pretty painless. Backed up, then just let it do it's stuff. No issues at all. Took about 90mins in total. All seems to be working fine...
I have my music set like that too and it didn't take anywhere near as long as it did when it first did it. My apps and music were fully restored after about 45 mins.
It´s strange, iTunes just said that the update was the 4.3.5 version and when I clicked update, it told me that it gave me the 5.0 warning. I am curious as to what iOS version is being installed right now, but it had to resync all of my apps.
