The gestures must have been cut out, they weren't present when my aunt downloaded it to her iPad 64 GB Wifi. Not even the switch to turn them on was present.
are you talking about the five finger pinch to pull up the multitask bar? Those were just for testing purposes, Apple was getting feedback from developers about the implementation affecting their apps. It's possible they will be in iOS5 but there hasn't been any news to back that up
Anyone having issues after updating? I have a 16GB iPad and have numerous issues after updating. Several freezes on the start up screen. If I delete an app off the iPad, it comes back and the memory space does not change. Takes several times longer to shut down.
So I've never updated while jailbroken. If I update, will it erase everything from the jailbreak, including Cydia and Winterboard, and pretty much make my phone seem like it was never jailbroken in the first place?
Almost. Have you changed your carrier logo, or your app names? They won't be reset by upgrading. Everything else will, however.
I have not. Only things I changed were the "Slide to Unlock" picture, the charge-up sound, and my sound theme (and that includes new SMS sounds). The reason I ask is because I don't want a backup to have traces of the jailbreak, just in case something goes wrong and I screw myself out of all these game saves that I've been working hard for lol. It's happened before, and I want to make sure it never happens again. Since I won't back it up, I was waiting for the next software update, anticipating that to erase all the jailbreak stuff.
damn i didnt get a update at all on my ipod touch. oh well at least i got the update on my iphone 3GS.
I'm running 4.3 now I tried jailbreaking 4.2.1 yesterday and that failed so I just figured I'd forget about that and update. I have to say I can't see any difference at all even safari seems the usual speed to me and Atomic web browser is still faster. As for airplay I just use air view it works fine and I don't see anything changed there either. Basicly I can't see any differences except for the version screen showing a different number so anyone on 4.2.1 isn't missing a thing as far as I can tell. Call me a cynic but I think this updates pretty pointless all in all. Edit: I just realised Airplay is pretty cool I guess I don't need Air View anymore it didn't occur to me at first that is what home sharing was for. It actually seems to work well I can see potential for it maybe I should get myself an apple TV.
So Apple is abandoning their slightly older devices altogether? Oh well whatever saves the hassle of spending several months to find a new jailbreak every time a damn new FW is released anyways.
Looks like personal hotspot isn't enabled unless your carrier enables it. Tried looking for it on my iPhone 4 but it's nowhere to be found.
I use it quite frequently with family and friends! It takes a little getting used to, but I love it, and think it's one of the nicer capabilities of my device...
You didn't add they ported the Nitro JavaScrpti engine from OSx to iOS in 4.3 and now JavaScript performance is over 2X faster.
You guys might want to hold out on this update for now (and the iTunes one) It seems like the new iTunes and iOS 4.3 is a bit unstable. iTunes doesn't open for some people (works ok for mac apparently) along with some other issues and iOS 4.3 causes (atleast in ipod touch 4g) the top bar in unlock screen to flicker.... + Other graphic glitches + Possibly Causing faster Battery Drain Probably other issues too Checked out Apple's discussion forum, there is some other people complaining about the same issues.
So essentaly those of us with older devices cannot upgrade to 4.3 which renders us pretty well screwed when devlopers start coming out with apps that are avaliable for those with IOS 4.3 and above only. Thats not cool.
