I was thinking about getting the full coverage for my iPod 4g. Does anyone have an opinion on Invisible Shield? I'd prefer gamer opinions over the Amazon ones. Thanks in advance.
I had one for my 2g and it worked really well, so long as I could get it on straight/flat. I just ended up taking it off though because it would get foggy when in a warmer environment, and I just don't care what happens to my 2g anymore. It works well though and the screen is still very responsive when its on.
It gives you an orange peel effect when you look at it under light but it doesn't affect the retina or anything like that. As for the protection... I scratched it the day I got with a pair of scissors. It has lifetime warranty but I'm lazy to send it back in. I have the easy install one, it covers the front and the flat part of iPod's back so if your case has a single cut out for the dock it will scratch there. I managed to get a code off macrumors though, I think they have a thread there where people post like 30+% off codes. I wouldn't exactly call it cheap for 25 bucks but if it scratches you can always get a new one.
I can get it for like 10 bucks on amazon, so pricing isn't an issue. Did you get the maximum protection or full body? I have no idea what the difference is, the description is ridiculously vague.
I got the Full Body Easy Install. It basically covers the whole front and the flat area of the iPod touch's back as well as the sides of the iPod, only thing that's missing is the corners and dock area so it scratches there. I heard the corners were hard to put on so I just got the Easy Install, might have gotten the Maximum protection now that I know how to do it. Oh and some hard cases don't fit on the iPod with both sides protected or 'lift' the invisible shield, silicone is fine though.
Maximum covers the sides of the device as well. I have one for my iPad, for $40. It's very nice on the back, no more slipping. The front got a bubble in it when I was putting it on, which turned into a wrinkle when I tried pushing it out. But it is pretty much invisible if you did it right. Tough as nails too. My suggestion would be to make sure none hangs over the edge, cause it'll collect dust and start peeling the rest off, which sucks. I love mine though
I wouldn't get either. I would just get the invisible shield for your screen, and then get a separate case for your device. The Invisible Shield is fantastic-just make sure you do not put it on yourself (you'll likely have air bubbles). Have on of the AT&T or Apple guys do it. I've had the same one for 1.5 years. It's a great investment, though it considerably dims the brightness of your device
i've had it on mine since 2nd week I got it about 1.5 yrs now. I forgot what it looks like without one.
I thought the Shield was great, until the front skin eventually just came off. Then I thought, well screw it, I need it for the back mainly, then the back peeled off as well. Then I thought, well that sucks, but hey I know, Zagg said lifetime warranty right? And I created an account with them and it has my purchase history right? Wrong. Word of advice if you plan on keeping that lifetime warranty, you must keep the original packaging they send you and keep the discarded shields. Then send the whole package back, pay for the shipping and then once they verify the situation calls for a replacement they send you a new one. However, it never bubbled once. Never.
I've used the Invisible Shield for a 1st-Gen and 3rd-Gen device, and although that's not what you're looking for, I've been happy with it. Works great, never scratches, and for some reason it seems to help the iPod survive falls. (Dropped mine onto concrete twice from at least four feet, and not a scratch was present either time.) Two complaints I have are that the Shield seems to have become slightly tinted yellow over time. It also has been peeling as of late, but since the iPod virtually lives in my linty pockets I can't really blame it on the shield. One word of advice: If you can find an Invisible Shield booth or some other professional who will install it for you, do it. Saves you the agony of worrying over little bubbles, and every Shield my family has had installed on any device has been virtually perfectly applied.
Hmm, peeling and yellow tinting? My standard screen protector did neither on my 2nd generation =| I'm still undecided on the maximum/full body coverage though.
Only peals if you put it on wrong. You won't notice the tinting, if it does exist, because you won't have anything to compare it to.
I had Invisi Shield on one phone and had the similar peel and yellowing problems. I switched to the Ghost Armor - just for the screen - and it has been fantastic. It is literally invisible, actually makes the resolutions better on all the devices my family uses it on. (and just about every phone and iPod Touch we all own has one on it now) If you are near a mall that installs it all the better since it comes out completely bubble and wrinkle free. In fact on one of our phones they installed it, saw some miniscule dust under it - one they found with magnifying glasses so I couldn't even see it - and they started over and installed a new one. They have a lifetime warranty - bring back whatever is left - and they will reinstall for the cost of installation - 5 bucks for just a screen. It is more expensive than what you quoted but for the peace of mind, look, feel, and protection, I feel it is worth it. I mean you are trying to protect an expensive device so 20, 30 extra dollars over the life of the device is nothing right?
Uh, so you're telling me that the employees at the booth don't know how to install their own product? Maybe I do need to switch. The yellowing is totally noticeable under some lighting conditions, and the outside corners of the device aren't covered, so there definitely is something to compare it to.
