Trust me I understand where your coming from. I do not know your gaming background, so it is hard for me to say what you expected out of what you might have heard to be the best game on the platform (I don't think it is to clarify, even RR2 has it beat in graphics imo). But I think their is enough variety and depth (term is used relatively here) to call it a game, and most certainly not a demo. I always recommend it with a good word to everyone, because there is nothing like it (on any platform really), but if they want to know the weaknesses then I will add everything you said. But it does not seem enough to stop people from making the purchase in situations except they absolutely do not like what they see.

Um, try getting through at least one bloodline before posting all this crap. It only takes 30 minutes to do so. Oh, don't forget to tell me how badly the God King massacred you. The enemies do change tactics..this is a game meant to be played through many times. It just doesn't happen on the first bloodline, besides the God King. You don't even get to see all the different types of enemies after one playthrough..maybe not even after two. Just play the game. Soon you're going to be begging that less skill would be needed to kill anything at all.

Sorry but it took probably less than 15 minutes to finish the first bloodline, probably less (there were like five or six fights, each about 2 minutes or less). So given such a short time to finish a bloodline, I am not sure how anyone will assume anyone who bought the game will not finish a bloodline before posting here. Sure, the God King, who is level 50 is not intended to be killed by the first bloodline, that much is clear.

But how exactly do you change how you play for each opponent? Please just give ONE example (name the opponent and the way to kill him, then name another and ANOTHER way to kill him). All I do is block or dodge, then slice. It really doesn't matter who the opponent is. Eventually you will encounter an opponent who is "stronger", but that is where the grinding comes in - you do the same thing over and over, collecting gold and upgrading your stats, but you don't change YOUR tactics, no matter what your opponent does.

The game is incredible. Each update they've released the game has gotten better. It's probably the only app on my phone that i've put the most hours into. The RPG element keeps me coming back. Getting my character the best weapons and armor is so cool. Anyone who says it is being sincere when they say its one of the best apps in the app store and the most in depth. For $2.99 its worth it. I paid $6 for it and it was the best $6 i've spent. Never been disappointed. The only thing I wish is if they added cloud saving so I could transfer my progress from my iPhone to iPad. Don't really want to have work my way back up on my iPad.

Infinity Blade is one of my favorite games that I've bought. Its pretty much an arcade-ish game thats sort of a cross between fruit ninja and mike tyson's punch out with "light" rpg thrown in (in terms of stat points and different weapons/armor/rings which provide magic).

When you first start playing, you'll just block/dodge & swipe like crazy. If you play enough though, you'll start learning to combo. I used to swipe like crazy to attack, but now I swipe a lot more slow and deliberately to do combos. On harder difficulties, enemies start using new moves (aside from become stronger). Most people though may just get bored after running through a the game a few times. Its only when you get to harder and harder difficulties the game shines.

I recommend this game if you like the arcade experience of Fruit Ninja crossed with Mike Tyson's punch out, and like having light RPG elements thrown in. Just don't expect a deep RPG. Its a cool experience, and @ $2.99, you don't have as much to lose compared to the regular price. For my preference of games, I've more than gotten my $2.99 worth...

How do you do combos? That is basically what i am looking for and where information is lacking. You sure are right that it is just slices like crazy for new players like me, so any information about how to do combos will be appreciated.

Ok i found the answer to my question regarding combos so posting it here in case other players are interested too:
    http://forums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=755093

There ARE combos, so I stand corrected on my statement about the mindless slashing. The game does take some replaying to appreciate, since the early fights are really easy.

To anyone who doubts this game because the campaign might seem too repetitive, buy it for the awesome multiplayer.

Playing as a slow-but-strong Titan uses a whole different strategy than playing as the nimble knight, and playing as the knight against a player-controlled Titan is unpredictable because the Titan can vary the speed of his attacks.

Plus, you get to play as the God-King and other Deathless, which is a blast.

Multiplayer is just plain fun. I like fun.

Lol.. Glad you found the Epic Games forum.. Some of those people are hardcore..

Chair has also created an online manual (saw it when the new update came out)...
    http://www.epicgames.com/infinityblade/manual/index.html
It covers the basics of the game mechanics which should be useful. I saw stuff that I didn't know even though I've logged over 5 hours at least.. =P lol..

I'm just guessing here, but looking at the history of IB showing up at media events, and the fact that an update for IB2 has been a long time coming, and now a sale on the original. I'm gonna venture to say that the new update for IB2 will probably be out today, along with an announcement about retina for iPad 3 and how beautiful IB2 looks.

    Just like last time :)

This is the last screenshot I have for IB1 before I got an iphone 4s and restored my ipod touch 4g. I was at Lv142 when i deleted it, and the last GK I killed was Lv1250.

I have a Lv100 IB2 character and I dont find any reason to get back to IB1.

And I didnt get any IAP.

IB2 has abysmal reviews cuz of the constant Data Loss and crashes.... any insights on that?

I was just looking at buying IB2 but those reviews are hard to ignore...

I'd get this one but I've already played it a lot(even if i never finished it) and i saw the ending trough youtube...

I want IB2... i just need to know i won't be losing data and it won't be a crash fest on my ipad 2

I've never had any crashes on IB2 since 1.2. I dont even remember any crashes on 1.1. This was back when I was using an ipod Touch 4g.

Now im using an iphone 4s and still no crashes. Although, I've had some sound glitches happening occasionally.

I am the opposite. I have lost my data twice on IB1 and stopped playing altogether. The reviews for IB2 guaranteed me not to purchase since most were complaining about data loss again. I am using a 4th gen iPod. The game is fun but not when you have the game crash and lose everything.

I bought it because of the sale, wasn't sure what to expect. Awesome graphics (scenery-wise). Doesn't seem to be much to the game beyond moving from one fight to another - which is fine if that is what you want. Tried a little of Blood and Glory, and can see some similiarities (though I am sure the freemium game must have its quirks and limitations). Funny how people knocked Batman, yet this seems so similar (though Batman has multiple enemies in each encounter). I'm certainly going to keep playing. These were just my initial thoughts.

The survival mode certainly intrigues me. I may or may not try multiplayer.

Couple of questions though: how does this game compare with number 2? Are they exactly the same, just two being a longer game?

How similar is this game to Epoch?

Oh... dont even let me start. Epoch is ok, but not nearly as good as IB. IB2 is better.

There's no comparison. They're totally different games with the only similarity being that they both use the Unreal Engine, and they're both played on a touch screen.

Er... Batman AC:Lockdown, Blood & Glory, Epoch, Robot Gladi8or and some other title we may not know yet only exists because of Infinity Blade's winning formula.

Batman ACL wasnt as good because of how EVERY non-boss enemy is just the same fight. Blood & Glory has clunky controls and not so good animations, and you cant get too far without IAP. Epoch is good but it changed the formula a bit by making it a cover shooter with IB elements. Robot Gladi8or looks bland, and it is incomplete. I dont know why they even released the game at the point where it's at.

IB2 is IB, but has so much more in it. Multiple paths, more weapons and armor, has 3 weapon classes instead of just one, gemming system, and better game challenge with a more random-patterned movesets for enemies. BUT IB has multiplayer, which IB2 only has rumors for. Im sure eventually they'll come up with a multiplayer update just like they did IB.
