I seem to recall that it involves running Deathless mode, perhaps gradually unlocking higher weapon upgrade levels.
Well, downloading, I'll see if it's really worth it, but I'll never forget what they did with the game. Why the heck did they change a friendly grinding game into something so damn filled with timers and second currency is something I don't understand at all.
They didn't, actually. The timed elements are all new to the franchise, and can actually safely be ignored without impacting the enjoyment of the game at all. I didn't start caring about either gem fusion, potion crafting or upgrading until MANY hours into the game, and I still haven't used a single crafted potion or upgraded weapon, only a few combined gems. (You can still find and buy potions and gems, just like in IB2. Crafting and upgrading and fusing is kinda added on top of everything else, for good or for bad, and sometimes seems almost like an afterthought). The second currency doesn't primarily seem to be a way to drive IAP sales, but a clever mechanic to separate elements of the game that might have overlapped each other in an annoying way, and give players additional rewards fortheir actions. Given that every single achievement nets you these new chips, that achievements repeat infinitely, and that you can gain chips from Clashmobs, Aegis Tournaments and Trials, the game basically throws these tokens at you in excessive amounts, at least until you reach the upper echelons of hardcore play (which you'll have to ask Exact-Psience about ). And there is an infinite supply. I usually lug around 500-1000 chips without really knowing what to do with them, mostly just saving them to buy new keys for chests (another mechanic which can be alleviated if you teach Issa to unlock chests for free). I probably could burn them all on price wheels and potions, but I have absolutely no need for that so far, suspect it would make the game far too easy at my current level, and like to explore and experience the game at a non-accelerated pace. I'm thinking treasure maps could be the real place to chip away. I have criticisms towards IB3, mainly the smaller, segmented locations and lack of divergent paths and secrets. I also had a secret dream that Chair would finally break the tedious and formulaic defend-wait for opening-attack pattern and give us a true fantasy melee combat simulation, but I realised just how unlikely that was long before the release of IB3. But as someone who has NEVER bought a single IAP currency pack, cheat or other non-content IAP in a premium game (not because I depore IAP, but because I wants my games to challenge me and to last), I am still not bothered in the SLIGHEST by the presence of IAP in IB3, and have NEVER discovered a single instance where the IAP would feel necessary, or even desireable.
It's not like I'm new to the game, neither to the franchise. When I say that this game is "evil" compared with the other games I'm not exaggerating. You need chips to get keys, something you could get with gold in earlier games. Chips aren't endless. I don't know if something changed in later updates, but before the first content update it was grindy as damn hell. You could only get some chips by completing achievements, and those weren't endless, and the "premium" things to buy in the store were expensive, very expensive compared with IB2. Also the timers. Hell with the timers. In the two other IB you didn't have to wait God knows how many days to "level up" the weapon. Going to the next NG was enough, but now they merged OG and NG in IB3 and they changed how to unlock new mastery levels for the equipment and you have to wait quite a lot or, of course, pay with second currency, while already spending some gold. The only timer IB2 had was with the gems, and that was OK, because since rebirths were waaay shorter it didn't feel like you needed to play a lot to shorter the time, but now it's not only that there's no way to make levels shorter, but that you have to use chips instead of gold to finish the potion/gem/weapon crafting or whatever, and the time you have to wait is way higher. I won't continue talking about the other faults of the game because I already talked about them earlier in the thread, but also because I just lost another damn save with a damn high level character in a damn IB game. I thought that after the IB2 disaster they would learn something, but it seems I was totally wrong.
You'll have to excuse me if it seemed that I assumed that you ARE indeed new, since your recollection seems to be spotty There has been an infinite supply of chips from the start, through a combination of achievements, Clashmobs and Battle Challenges (and presumable Aegis Tournaments, but I'm not certain I have ever come across one), and Trials were added in the Deathless Bloodmage update. As for keys, since you can both earn chips and unlock chests with Issa's abilities, I'd say it is easier to unlock chests than ever. I have, so far, not left a single chest unlocked, something I did on a regular basis in IB1 and IB2. And yeah, the timers are time-y. But, as I posted above, while I cannot vouch for the true hardcore levels of play, there is no part of the game during the first 15 hours or so (and possibly beyond) where you need the timed supplies to progress or enjoy. So while a hour-long wait might be annoying, it is not preventing anyone from playing, unlike paywall timers in freemium titles. Why you think that Chair would learn anything from a "disaster" that garnered high-scoring reviews (among them the first perfect score for an iOS game from IGN), and resulted in profit margins almost unseen on the platform and that helped make the franchise the most profitable ever for Epic in terms of man years invested versus revenue, I can't understand. This is not, of course, a validation of quality. Many of the least entertaining games I have ever played have been incredibly profitable, or received high review scores. But it does tell you why Chair probably does not listen to criticism such as yours and mine. Perhaps the game would have been better if they did, but with such wide-spread, possibly universal, success and acclaim, it is hard to fault their smarts for continuing to develop a winning concept.
Lost my save game and all progress. According to reviews on App Store I'm not the only one. This really sucks.
Just scored 5 perfect parries in the clashmob, and the clashmob is stuck on the white screen after the time runs out.. Hating this... After selecting the clashmob again, it disappears, and said that I already qualify, but the rainbow defense is nonexistent... Argh..
No no, with disaster I didn't mean IB2 itself, which IMO is the best of the series, but because that game was released with a VERY annoying save bug that had to do with iCloud, that was "fixed" a lot of times through updates, and now the same thing is happening again. In IB2 I already lost 3 save files, and that was annoying, but since the grinding was... funny, I didn't actually care. In this game grinding was too hard and completely unrewarding, due to boring levels with no secrets, long games and, of course, those damn timers, so this time I really feel like I lost a lot of time with IB3. Now I just don't feel like doing everything again, playing long and boring levels to unlock useless perks that should be available since the start and weapons I already had, just to wait again for those gears, gems and potions to be ready while grinding chips in painful challengues to get something better than a small key. Anyway, about achievements and such, again, IDK about the late updates, but in the last version I played I only had some achievements left. I bought some keys, skipped some timers and such so I didn't have ANY chips left, and the rewards for the challengues were laughable. In IB2 I was so far in NG I could get 5 big keys in one NG without major problems, while here it's not only a waste of chips but also completely impossible once you have almost no achievements left. Clashmobs (or battle challengues or whatever) wasn't available, and when they were made available rewards were still very bad.
Where is the Rare Elemental Defense gem Trial? I can't find it anywhere. The Only new things I see in the map are the new Deathless mode, the new Aegis story and the Colosseum that has money as a reward.
Ye, that weariness is very understandable. Strangely, though I find the grinding in IB3 more rewarding and entertaining (in spite of those miniscule levels), so I suppose there is a huge chunk of individualism and subjective sentiments involved. Clashmobs and battle challenges were in at launch (basically everything was in except for Trials), but yeah, perhaps the rate of chip income is still frustrating to some players, at certain levels, in certain situations, etc. I'm just glad I have yet to end up there myself I hope Ausar Rising (with the Area, Deathless mode, additional story, and perhaps the Soul Hunter patch with Trials and other ways to progress as well) makes the game less boring-grindy and more enjoyable for ya.
The problem is that I just reinstalled the game only to find that my save file was nuked, so I don't think I'll play IB3 again, at least for some time.
same here, we're not the only one, in the infinity blade forums there is a thread already with this topic
I figured out what's happening, for some reason I am not connected to the Cloud and so far I haven't been able to connect. I hope they fix it soon. At least I did keep my progress.
Just checking in to see if ANYONE can get their cloud saves to turn on. Mine will not allow me to turn it on. I continually get this message: NOT CONNECTED There was an error connecting. You may need to restart the App. So, I restarted, tried again, and it still doesn't work. How are people supposed to get this special gem TODAY if they can't use their old save files? Grind for the next 12 hours?!? I'll try putting my old save back in the app... But this cloud thing NEEDS to work.
Holy sh... the graphics Playing on an iPhone 5S I'm just in awe at the graphics of this game since the update. They were already great but this is something else. It is truly remarkable to behold such incredible graphics on a 4 inch device, it looks like a freaking movie. Thank you so much for this wonderful update Chair
