I was really excited to try this series but after I found out that you just play through similar content over and over in the second one. I don't really want to buy the third. is it worth getting? I hope someone can change my mind because the graphics look incredible and the gameplay looks tight.
Yeah, no way I'm going to do those 30 scratches challengues just to get 20 chips or something like that. Another thing that I'm not sure if someone already mentioned is that mastering a weapon instantly also costs battle chips, but take a look at the number. It's like WTF? Before fixing clashmobs Chair should balance the game.
Yeah, it's not like you could use money gems to get WAY more money than the key's price or rare item drop gems to get rarer items than usual... Battle chips for keys suck. Heck, battle chips suck, and they should have never been added in IB3.
I havent been in the official IB thread lately. Does anyone know what they think of regarding the existence of a secondary currency in IB3?
You mean the official forums? Most people found IB2 better than this game, some saying that even the first version of IB2 beats this game (there's a thread with a poll where IB2 beats IB3 and IB3 beats IB). The main complaints are about how linear this game is compared with the other games. About battle chips, people that talk about them is just to say how much they don't like them.
I don't like the battle chips either. In fact, I hate them. It's pathetic how you can't buy life restore potions with normal coins. Anyway, I kept the chips and only bought the maps with them, and with healing rings the life potions aren't as necessary, but I insist that the move by ChAIR regarding dual currency is pathetic...
The battle chips sound like another freemium duel currency money grab. Why cant people just sell games strait up?
I can't tell by your comment whether you have played IB2 or not. If not, and you are worried about the linearity of the game I would actually recommend getting IB2 as it is the least linear of the IB games and there are actually several locked/hidden areas to find. In regards to IB3; I'm enjoying it also and it is definitely more story driven than the previous games. Personally, I like the new environments despite the necessary grind in them. In my opinion, the game is very fun, but it is more limited in some respects than IB2 was. Mainly due to the lack of branching paths, but I have confidence in Chair's tendency to release some awesome updates and there is a good chance that the paths will come then. The two character play style and perk system, as well as the story make IB3 well worth the price.Your question was whether you should get IB3 or not, and to that I say yes! However in making a decision between 2 and 3 I would recommend looking at whether you want branching paths or a decently entertaining and fairly sterotypical story, keeping in mind that IB3 is very likely to be updated with loads of new content.
Okay, so I've just finished the game and I feel like getting slapped in the face! That's the worst, most cliche ending I've seen in a video game for a long time. With some really poor music on top of that. Was Rebecca Black too busy to sing or what? Please somebody tell me there's much more to this game after finishing it for the first time... On the bright side of things I can't say I noticed that second currency much. It's there, ok, but it's not really vital. At the same time the usual gold bags seemed to be more generous than in the IB2. Right now I'm really confused... A solid game, with hours of interesting and challenging gameplay, all ruined by a shallow ending. Canabalt had a better one!
Yeah i meant the official forums. Thanks for that info. Hopefully, Chair sees this and AT LEAST tweak the current system.
Why the balls do I have to pay 200k to upgrade an item then wait 24 hours for it. Frickin ridiculous.
Yeah, that ending was pure cheese wrapped in a cliché. But I'm enjoying my second play through more then the first.
Yeah... sadly. I was hoping some more ending story with Spoiler Siris's return to Drem's Maw, and to his mom. And whoever ends up ruling over the land now since Siris could probably control most of the deathless that's left. Maybe Siris trying to rule the world now with justice, but ended up being drunk in power and acted as the next God King, which reveals that THIS happened before too, many times over, which would give a new meaning to the "infinity" cycle.
Yup, I just finished it too. Love the gameplay, graphics, and great gear... But now that I've beaten it, it took me back into the tutorial after watching that into. And now I have to play through the story again! We should be given the option to play through the story OR go to any location and replay them as we see fit with either character. THAT is what I was looking forward to. This is WAY more linear than even the first Infinity Blade! Please update this and add an option to play any location if you've beaten the story mode. ALSO, the chips are a terrible idea. I want to pay money to buy potions, not only chips. AND, if I pay a ton of money to upgrade an item, I shouldn't have to wait 24 hours in order to use it. These were VERY, VERY poor choices on Epic and Chair's part. Great story, great gameplay and graphics, but this is a disappointing execution of those ideas that made the first Infinity Blade so appealing.
Well, I did some further testing on the chips. Haven't spent any but that's because I centered on repeating last mission over and over and over.... And over. It got tough after a while But anyway, I've 5000 chips now and based on the remaining goals, I've another 3000 to get. So total 8000 as an estimate. Note to get to 5000, I've completed those in battle challenges for chips as much as possible and they've contributed about 1000 chips at a very rough guess. And I know its different to the 6000 chips total I thought yesterday but there was extra tiers of each goal that I'd didn't know of at the time. I'm pretty sure I'm on the last tier for the ones that are left, but that might change. Overall, the chips do come and 8000 isn't that bad at all as I'm sure more will be added for clashmobs. But it was in no way easy to get there and as much as I hate to use the term grind because I don't consider it a grind if its fun, to get that number of chips was certainly on the grinds side. As a further word of caution, just spend them sparingly and over time you will get enough. It was more difficult than I had hoped but a positive is that I never really spent any. Of course I've yet to open a large key chest also or finish an upgrade early. I'll update again once I get all the goals. Probably sometime tomorrow as the eyes are burnt out of my head my right now from staring at an iPad all day. Oh and one last thing. Do the final mission and lose at the Souless God King as much as you can. The chests are a great earner for in game cash. It'll vary from about 40,000 upwards for each chest. It I've gotten 100,000 plus quite a lot in the last few times. It worked very handy for the merchant as she appears a lot after it so you get the item reductions for top end stuff as well. Plus you can be upgrading items while you run through it.
That's exactly what was missing from the ending, something to add new meaning to the "infinity" cycle. In my opinion, that would make the game feel less linear when playing a 'new' game. It's missing that "infinity" cycle feeling that the first two had. But I'm guessing Chair will help resolve this in future updates. More locations to chose from on the world map would help tremendously as well. Or at least more branching paths in the current levels.
I have an interesting take on the ending, but I haven't read the books (the only knowledge on the books I have is that which was in the TA Story Guide) but I still have a good understanding of the lore. So please correct me if I am wrong. Spoiler I think the child was The Worker actually... Listening to the dialogue before you stab the Worker and based on the name of the achievement for seeing the after credits scene with the child has led me to believe so.
