I'm seeing a lot of complaints, and I agree with some of them. But let's remember that Chair always updates games and adds new features and bug fixes. I'm willing to bet some of these complaints will be addressed by Chair within the next month or so.

On a different subject, has anyone managed to beat the dragon yet?

In my 3 playthroughs, he only showed twice. Both times i was mastering crappy weapons so i only deal minimal damge.

Amen. One of the few things I hate about the mobile game market. People seem to think that optimization isn't needed anymore, and neither are graphics options.

Started playing this on my ipad mini with ios7. No problems. Went through act one twice. Then I opened it up on my ipad2 ios6.1. It picked up right from where I left off on the ipad mini. Played through act 2 on my ipad, no problems. Very seemless, worked great on both devices. I am curious as to why they highly recommend one upgrades to IOS7 though in the app description. Does it perform better for the game? Anyways, I am enjoying it so far.

There are different End Fights and what happens during those.

Here is a different One with a slightly different End Fight:

Is it just me, or can anyone access the trials on the world map? It just tells me to check back later.

What I find strange about the complaints - I guess mainly from iPod Touch 4 users - is that both IB 1 & 2 run rock solid on a 3GS. I understand the graphics are better in this, but really, how much better? The first two installments already were far and away among the best looking iOS games. They're using the same engine. I don't know. I have a 4S now so this doesn't really concern me but just surprised that the previous games pushed devices and ran fine. Maybe the graphical upgrade is more than I'm led to believe.

Yes it is. You're three generations behind. If this were the PC market, sure. But tech on the iOS leaps instead of hopping. Buy a new device or stop whining.

It is needed, but the power difference between A4 and A5 is huge. Even bigger is the gap between A5 and A6.

I have an iTouch 4G and they definitely never ran "rock solid" for me. Playable indeed, but never really ran WELL. iTouch 4 users are stuck in the worst spot, where the internals are near-identical to the 3GS, but it has a higher screen resolution to deal with.

Using the same engine doesn't mean that the performance should be the same. I remember that both IB and IB2 had some framerate problems. In IB2 there was a place where the framerate was always terrible, and the cure for those devices (all the way up to iPhone 4S) was to delete some effects. One was an effect that was used through the game in many places (I think it had something to do with the light), and the other effect was the torches.
Just like in IB2, this game also has framerate problems in some specific places, at least on my iPhone 4S. The best example is the place where you use one weapon to unlock a door while using Isa. The framerate drop is obvious there.

Thanks, VaroFN. Your assessment is extremely helpful.

Can you elaborate MORE on the difference between dying / REBIRTH mechanics between IBIII and IBII?

Well, spent probably a total of three hours so far, and I must say, there is more depth to the combat. Enemies will lose their weapons and pick up environmental objects, or break a staff and dual wield and pieces. Great mix-up on the fly, I like it.

However, this skill system is not a welcome change at all, nor is the dual currrency. I'm not opening any chests that I find, and item boxes? Forget it. Timers? In a premium game like this? Even Asphalt didn't have them and it was a damn $.99, dropping temporarily to free in less than a month.

Visually, it's nowhere near the leap from IB1 to IB2. Shadows are higher resolution, animations are a bit better (though well over half are reused), and there's more bump mapping on armor. So what. The depth of field effect during cutscenes is a nice touch.

No clue how this received such a glowing review from TA. Though IGN still rated it too high in my opinion, at least they didn't have the IB beer goggles on and mentioned some of these shortcomings in their review.

I recommend you do some research before making statements like that, as nothing could be further from the truth.

My iPad2 is stuffed with apps and IB3 is totally playable.

Could you perhaps be using too many jb tweaks?

  15. Wow, you are gone and reborn? No more Asphalt 8 screenshots?

The only time I have really found any game to lag on my ipad2 or any of my devices for that matter, is when I am updating or downloading other apps at the same time. With IOS7, apps can automatically update when an update is available. Also apps can refresh their data, (twitter, fb, etc...) in the background now. Might want to watch out for that stuff.

  17. Does this mean we can't play for 10 hours if you upgrade your weapon from lev 2 to 3? Or can you still play with a different weapon?

I haven't read all the posts but I'm getting this feeling that Infinity Blade 2 is much better in all aspects of the game than IB3?

You can play with a different weapon.

In IB2 after killing a boss or getting killed, you die, and start a new rebirth. After each rebirth, some time passes.
In IB3, however, you only die and start a new rebirth when you're killed. If you kill a boss, and therefore finish the level, you only return to the base without a extra rebirth (although at the start of a new level it will say that you're on a higher rebirth).
What does this mean? Well, in IB2 there were also a timer for forging gems. Since after each rebirth some in-game time passes, you get those forged gems earlier, no matter if you kill a boss or if you're killed, so you always feel accomplished.
In IB3 there are also timers for forging gems, creating potions and upgrading weapons, however, since you only get a new rebirth after being killed, if you rush through the game you'll find yourself facing enemies with way higher HP than yours that kill you in two blows, and since you don't have those weapons/potions/gems that are being forged, you'll have to restart from rebirth 1 or just keep trying. So yeah, that's your reward for playing like a pro.

This alone may not seem a big problem, but if you add that grinding is heavier than in IB2 and it's not so entertaining due to short levels, and that the timers can get to 15 hours for a single weapon... Well, now the problem is way bigger.

In my opinion, yes. The only new feature I really like about IB3 is Isa. Pretty much every other feature in the game wasn't properly added.
