Yea, good game but the same happened to me twice. Can't waste any more time on this until it's updated and fixed. Beware because the deeper you get into it and acquire more powerful weapons and armor the more it's going to sting when it happens to you which I hope it doesn't. I just hope they are aware of this and are on top of it.
If you're interested in the story I can only recommend the ebook on the ibooks store, it's really good and quite cheap!

I'm confused... didn't Chair praise the inclusion of incremental updates i iOS 5, and how it would save users from having to redownload whole apps? With 2 gigs to spare, the 1.0.2 patch still refuses to install on the grounds of lack of space. Must be some optimizations
I came to ask this as well, but I guess I was beaten to it. Though, considering the rather vague description for the update, I'm not getting my hopes too high that it was actually fixed. I would assume that the devs would make it a lot more clear if a game-breaking bug were fixed.
Downloading it right now. I'd be surprised if this somehow recovered my save file. But not inclined to starting over until upgrade notes specify that they have fixed this huge bug.
Not sure whether this is a fluke, but the game managed to boot up and load my save game off a fresh reboot. I am also noticing a LOT more ambient sounds. This is on an iPod Touch 4G running 5.01. I'll try again and see if this is a fluke or not. UPDATE: Wow! From the testing I've done, which includes forcing the game to quit from memory override and loading the game with wi-fi on and also turning wi-fi off while the game is running, it seems that this update fixed the save-game glitch. I hope everyone else gets as good results as I have. It might be preemptive to celebrate, but cheers! =D In addition, I confirm BirkusTheGreat's claim that the update gives you max double-xp potions and two medium keys for free. It also gave me three prize wheels.
Woah just downloaded it..everything feels smoother, but more importantly, free stuff!!!! It came with a new dual, light, and heavy weapon, several potions, including double xp! Oh and two medium keys!
I can't load the game anymore after the patch. It keeps crashing.... So mad. I reset the phone 4 times. Help!
