agree agree agree. iOS 5 is nothing but trouble. I just wish I'd done more homework before trying to download it in hopes that it would actually improve my performance. Proof that if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
So much miss-information being giving as fact. iCloud doesnt allow you to manually restore game saves. So if u deleted a game that had saved data in iCloud, you will not be able to restore that data yourself unless the developer of the game created a restore feature in the game.
Yeah, 5.0.1 I think. Weird jolt when the app is opened, goes to loading screen and then crashes every time. Redownloaded, restarted. I'll try restoring my iPad when I get home, but that won't be for a while. If that doesn't work, I'll be asking Apple for a refund.
The VAST majority of games that saves data in iCloud (through Apple's new cloudsave APIs, such as the new Documents & Data storage) automatically downloads/displays it when the game is reinstalled. Possibly you are referring to the automatic cloud backups iOS 5 creates for every app. These are for emergency purposes only (lost, broken or stolen device, whereupon the user can enter his iCloud account and download ALL the data of his former device), and are deleted when the app is deleted, just like local data. For true cloud storage, the new APIs must be used. Either way, a game that specifically uses iCloud for save game storage will automatically download/display available saves when reinstalled. Starbase Orion, Zombieville 2 and Infinity Blade II are all good examples.
Don't update to ios5! On my iphone 4 ios 4.2.1 ib2 runs smoothless! It's all ok! Don't upgrade until ios5 will reach a more stable release!
lol sorry.. i just thought that "smoothless" is the coolest new word i've heard this month i've only tried the first 5 minutes (i'm gonna buy a US version when it comes out on time so it'll be on my acct). but the 1st battle ran pretty smooth and there was a noticeable lag on the opening cutscene but i do not know if it persists in any other cutscenes since that's all i saw. ios4.2.1 touch4g
I was experiencing slowdowns with IB1 and ios5. What I did was close all tasks and restart the phone. That worked fine for me (non-jailbroken iphone4 with Spanish settings).
From the gameplay videos thoughtfully released by the members of the forum, and from other videos floating around on youtube, I think that Chair messed up with the ipad versions in general. Its obvious that the major visual effects that Chair hyped so much prerelease (sunshafts - real time shadows) are MISSING from the ipad 2 version, a fact over which I'm at a loss. My guess is the ipad 2 ends up running the version intended for the ipad 1, and from various reports I understand that the game crashes on ipad 1, so its likely that the ipad 1 is trying to run the more advanced ipad 2 version. What a mess....
So, what do you guys think? I already have IB1, but don't have room for BOTH, so, should I dump 1 and get 2 instead? Is the new one harder to play? I'm thinking of getting it-the hype is incredible! Any thoughts?
To be fair they did say at the event that Infinity Blade 2 would "only run like this on the new iPhone." I'm sure it runs fine on the iPad 2 and iPhone 4 though. Looking forward to this game.
