Hmm me too. Or something more along the lines of Star Wars, a long time ago in a galaxy far away. OR It's a holodeck. A simulation. The God King is real, you as the player are merely a construct in a virtual world that has somehow bridged the gap between construct and reality. Think The Matrix. Or Professor Moriaty in Star Trek TNG
Epic announced an update with new items AND a NEW IMMORTAL(more corrupt and powerful than the God King). In the Alternative Ending the God King talks about vanquishing those immortals. So in all due respect the real ending MUST have some way of tying the immortals to the ending. Maybe the hologram summoned an immortal who killed you thus making your son appear after 20 years.
I guess you are the immortal and "more immortals" refers to the multiplayer aspect of the update. The blue thingy does look like a server list, the device certainly is similar to an iDevice.
I always assumed he is very sad every time you fail to live up to his expectations and join him and has to wait another 20 years with nothing but an ipad that never gets OS updates for entertainment. So he takes your lifeless body up to the top of the castle, places it in a catapult aimed at the center of fruit and vegetable market in the middle of your village, stamps "Insufficient postage - return to sender" on your forehead and pulls the trigger.
