Nah I think the A5 went extinct now it's the A5X chipset probably 1gb of RAM and duel or quad core graphics. With dule core CPU. And I think the resolution would be a little heigher than the iPad 2
? The iPad mini, when and if (probably not) it releases is going to be a budget tablet to compete with the other low end android tablets such as the nexus 7 and kindle fire. It'll probably be equipped with the a5 and 512 mb of ram. No retina, probably a 720p screen. Remember the idea is to keep costs low.
The iPad mini, when it launches (and it will launch by November at the latest, has to make it out for christmas) will have the resolution of the iPad 2 (1024x768), 7.85 screen (163ppi, better than iPad 2, still not retina, exact same as pre retina iPhone), original a5 chip (not a5x) and 512mb ram. All parts that are currently in production and need no tooling up or development cost. Even the tooling for the screen manufacture, despite it being a different size, would be the same as what makes the iPad 2 screen with little modifications. Essentially an iPad 2 in a smaller chassis. And essentially one model with 16gb drive so that it won't cannibalise from iPad 3. There is no question of these specs. Anything else will be both too expensive and take sales from rest of device line up. The rumour even lines up more because now that the 3GS is officially dead, the same production lines that used to make those screens will now be making (or at least able to) 7.85 screens for the iPad mini with no modifications necessary. The whole manufacturing process is already there, so costs can be kept down.
You really think apple will ever market any of their devices as "budget" or as directly competing with low end androids? I just have a hard time believing that. As much as it pains me to say it, apple has always had more of an elite attitude.
It won't be marketed as budget. But it will 100% be launched for the Christmas market. The iPod touch isn't marketed as budget and this will slot in between iPod touch and iPad. It'll sell in massive numbers, use a production line that would be obsolete and dismantled without it and be extremely cost efficient hence make tons of money. The manufacturing plants and lines along with the tooling are already in place from previous idevices. It would be more expensive to retool a complete plant. Why would it not launch?
Everyone who says there's "no question" of what the specs will be, and doesn't get it right, should refrain from making predictions ever again. I predict they won't.
If the ipad mini does come out, which I highly doubt at the moment, It would make sence that it will have a retina display along with an A5x-A6 processor. In other words, it's going to be as powerful or more so than the ipad 3 and about a hundred dollars cheaper. Atleast that's what I'm assuming...
The ipod touch 5 has better specs than the ipad 2. Why would they make the ipad mini worse than their ipod touch?
It won't be worse. It will have a bigger screen. If it has a bigger screen and it costs about the same, would it be too surprising if it's inferior in some other ways?
Well, if rumour has it, cost and portability are the main concerns of the ipad mini. With most 7 inch tablets running at $199 or so, Apple will be forced to keep costs low, so they will probably have to resort to a non retina ipad screen. Also, portability is another factor, and ipad retina causes a lot of weight due to the added light bar, extra battery, and added hardware in it. So I doubt very much the mini ipad will be better than the new ipad. But on the positive, the cost will be way done, probably $299 is my guess.
But what else do we have to talk about for the next twelve years as we wait for Infinity Blade: Dungeons?
The iPod mini. It has a 2.5 inch screen at 480x320, equipped with apple's brand new a5.5 chip with 256 mb of ram. It also includes "HuhWut?", a brand new iteration of Apple's outdated Siri. It's coming out this Halloween, October 31 with IB Dungeons being a iPod Mini exclusive. CONFIRMED for $199, only 2 gb capacity (if you want more space you can always buy another, they're really cheap), marketed for everyone who wants a smaller iPod touch without the hassle of that massive 4.5 inch screen. /off topic
IB posted another post on their fb today saying "have you seen trailer for ibd? Go and check it out!" And people weren't happy about it, looks like people are losing hypes for this game now
im not really expecting it tonight... but just saying, it would make a good week on top of the other games
