Exactly what I thought after seeing the videos and hype.

    Definite no purchase.

Eli, could you answer for those of us, that expect a good sword fighting system, stats based on equipment and unlockables...

Whether we will get exactly that?

I for one, never expected a story, Epic Citadel controls or explorative areas...

I expected a good fighting system, beautiful graphics and depth in the xp system/equipment that is fun.

Will those of us, who expect what Touchgen revealed, find a lot to love?

    Or is the game clumsy?

If you could answer that much, I'd be thrilled. Otherwise, I felt your post was more along the lines of disappointment. I don't know if you expected more? But there are those of us who expected only what has been shown.

So, please refer to above portion of this post, answers would be appreciated.
    :D

Famous line from the movie Major League.

"You may run like Mays, but you hit like sh--."

Rage Mutant Mayhem looks great, but it plays like garbage to me.

My sense is that this game will play better and be more fun and/or engaging than a lot of people are giving it credit for. However, I hesitate to believe that it will qualify as a "full gaming experience."

I'll probably give it a go. But when you realize what Gameloft gives you in a typical 6.99 premium game and compare that to what Infinity Blade is likely offering for 5.99, I'm not sure it's going to compare. IB is definitely going to look better than you average Gameloft game, but content-wise and package-wise, I'm not sure it's going to stack up. Understanding that Gameloft is on the verge of releasing 6 premium games, IB might be a tough sell. Then there's Aralon and Battlefied 2 and Real Racing 2 and Dead Rising.

    :( Why can't Dead Rising use UE3??

And BFBC2 is utter crap from what I've seen. I'll stick to my PC version. That leaves RR2 and NOVA2. (Asphalt 6 looks crappy as well)

    For starters...

Aralon is a MUST BUY. Those who love RPGs, but wait for a sale, rather than invest in the game, will truly miss out. It is THE game to beat, iOS AppStore wise.

    When it comes to Gameloft...

They are the one company who unscrupulously mimic the experiences found on true consoles. In fact, they have been the only company so blatant and brash, in their attempts. I give them immense credit.
Without Gameloft, the iOS gaming space would truly have a huge void to fill.

Epic Games, a huge name brand and whose own tech powers stunning AAA masterpieces, is a new player in iOS. I think they're making an iOS game, for the sake of making an iOS game. Epic's motive lies in, showing the world a real game can be made with their proprietary engine. Not just a tech demo.

Hence it's a game, a showpiece and a commercial, really.

I'm not holding Infinity Blade to a Crescent Moon or Gameloft standard. I never expected that much. I surely wasn't disappointed, as more of Infinity Blade took shape, either.

I am very much, by my own admission a graphics wh*re. I want my games to look as beautifully sexy, as they play. Infinity Blade, will hold my attention far longer than the Fruit Ninjas, Angry Birds and Novas solely because I will admire it's aesthetics. Am I shallow, in that regard? Sure.

Though, I really am as stoked to finger sword fight on my enormous iPad screen, while gathering great looking and beneficial stats and loot. Maybe, more of my excitement comes with owning an iPad? As the screen will be a bigger benefit to Infinity Blade and all that it is?

It will truly shine on the big screen.

Anyhow, I didn't expect Gameloft like length, nor do I give 2 squirts. P*ss, whether I can explore a linear area with analog controls. So I can walk into and stare at a wall or shrub? Please get over it.

I want the eye candy and regretfully, Im sure other games will disappoint me visually, after I've bitten the apple that is Infinity Blade.

It sounds like they shouldn't have emphasized the "RPG" in "action RPG" so much.

So Infinity Blade is a really cool fighting game with some light RPG elements? For $5.99, I think that's a bargain; Street Fighter IV is $9.99. Sure Epic/Chair could have went all out with their engine and made Elder Scrolls 5 or something, but I don't think that would have been a smart move. Like I've said before, they're likely seeing if they can make money with a smaller game first, and, if it does well, that'll give them reason to make bigger and more expensive projects.

Infinity Blade will be an insta-buy for me. I love fighting games with intuitive controls, good action, and graphics.

Anyone know what IOS is required to run this? I currently have my iPhone 4 running on 4.1 and my iPad on 3.2, would hate to get to Thursday and have to go through updating my devices just to run this.

As much as I would love to play this on my iPad im not updating it until an untethered jailbreak comes out cause I use iMame4all an awful lot on it and no one game is worth losing that for.

    Thanks, for the assurance.

Wednesday night, can't come fast enough :D

I hope none of the haters call this game crap...

"Is that a turtle head? No, it's my Infinity Blade."

"First of all, it's important to establish what Infinity Blade is not. It's not a massive RPG with an epic storyline and dozens of characters. You'll find no towns or side quests or secret caves to explore. In fact, when you're wandering around in the game world, you can’t move freely at all."

I just hope it's a real fighting game (think Street Fighter) not some shallow Fruit Ninja. Also am I the only person who think that the story/plot is ridiculous? Sons getting avenging his father? They could have done a far better job if they simply introduced more characters or something.

Edit: Put in another way, would you play this game if it had average 2D graphics? Is it really that fun?

Lol. Infinity Blade may not be much of an RPG, but, from the looks of the previews I've seen, it will likely be one of the best fighting games available in the app store.

I think that's pretty cool and original though. I can't recall ever hearing a story like that for a game.

What happens if the player doesen't get marryed annd all the stuff before going off to fight the God King, is of course the big question...

My answer to your edit: I wouldn't. Come on, it'd be 2D fruit Ninja (Fruit ninja is 3D/2.5D...) with small powerups.

Are you able to actually move around in the game? Or does it just take you from one enemy to the next?

Oh well, tho i'm more excited for Aralon, this looks really awesome. The fighting system is genius, maybe better than Aralon? could be.

How much RPG does this game have? examples please.

Maybe they should have done a little more story...

What do you feel? Would it fit, or is it not that kind of game?

This will still be an insta-buy, but has definitely taken a backseat to Aralon; lack of open world makes it eh. This is like a mix of EA MMA (Dodge? Check. Parry? Check. Slow-mo transition into your offensive combo? Check. Upgrading stats? Check.) and... better graphics. Still looking forward to it though. Still wouldn't really call it an RPG though.

Well first of all the original demonstration at Apple's Press Event shows Project Sword with Epic Citadel's free-roaming environment. I know it was still in early stages, but you'd think that they'd keep using Epic Citadel's environment and it would be free-roaming like Epic Citadel. Obviously at some early stage in development, they decided to remove the free roaming and make it a linear point and click fighting game.

And also websites described it as an Action/Adventure RPG, and we've only just recently discovered that it's a fighting game with light RPG elements.

    http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Various/iPhone+and+iPad+action+RPG+Project+Sword+renamed+Infinity+Blade/news.asp?c=24798

    http://www.slidetoplay.com/story/epic-announces-action-rpg-project-sword

    http://n4g.com/news/596405/iphone-action-adventure-rpg-project-sword-demoed

This is why I think people feel mislead and are disappointed.
I'm still looking forward to it as a fighting game. It's just a shame that we weren't given much info on what the game was about earlier on. Maybe if they'd described it as a fighting game from the start then people wouldn't be disappointed.
