That's the thing, they just won't show us in game gameplay or images. Same principle that you see in movies, where movie producers won't let critics watch the film until it's released, to avoid the negative reviews. It also seems like the battles will be done in a locked-in screen, such as in Street Fighter. What sucks about this is that it kills the immersion, and nullifies the purpose of an open-world game, if one even exists. So what is this? Well, you'll probably have 5-10 boss fights, with some quick travel time to each fight, with chests that give you very limited treasures. I hope to god, I'm wrong. But this is all I can come up with, what the devs not saying anything about the actually gameplay, and not showing us any of the gameplay.
i'm not saying the game would be bad and i'm not complaining of being cheap too what i'm saying is that the devs chose that price because that's the equivalent of their effort for the game. Big dev like Chair or epic won't just give their big-time effort game for 5.99. just my opinion
I think this game will have at least 10 hours of gameplay. the 6 dollar release price is most likely a marketing strategy. they're hoping this game blows up and sells a huge amount of copies most likely. although its understandable to base a games playability by its price, i think this one in particular will be an exception
god! stop complaining! just wait till it gets out. dont buy it till the reviews are out if you think that $6 is "too much of a risk". its selling cheaper than anyone thought, its looking kickass, they never said it was gonna be free roam in the first place. heck. they didnt even plan to make the tech demo into a game. but they did. so bottom line is its $6 for the best looking game ever made on a PHONE.
OMG! Some people are acting like they're making a huge financial investment on this title. It's 6 dollars, people! Less than the price of a venti Frappucino and a pastry. Chair said MANY times that they were making a gamers game, in the guise of something approachable and casual. A game that can also have appeal within the AppStore. The iOS devices are glass touchscreens. Even though we know that FPS controls can work, that was not Epic and Chairs intention. They did not want to create a game that shoehorned a physical button control type, onto the device. They wanted to make their first game, by catering to the device in mind. Hence the control type that will appear in Infinity Blade. Think Chaos Rings/meets Fruit Ninja. This is a system where Angry Birds, reigns after all people. So let's see what comes later. Maybe they'll see what worked and didn't and make a SEQUEL. This ONE game is not the end of the road.
An interview article with the dev appeared on Pocketgamer a few weeks ago. He said that the game was sitting just under the 500 mb mark, at that stage of development.
People complain about this great UNIVERSAL game made by a legitimate console developer being $5.99 yet no one also points out how other developers can charge $4.99 for "Homerun Battle 3D" yet also have a million things for in app purchase? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight... Personally, I can't wait for this, I've already circled the date on my calendar. I am a HUGE fan of Chair games and eagerly anticipate slicing and dicing on my Touch. Pacificsun0481, so true about your Fruit Ninja/Chaos Rings comparison, that should be their tag line!
http://www.touchgen.net/infinity-blade-developer-interview We talk to ChAIRs Donald Mustard about their upcoming action RPG, Infinity Blade Today I sat down with Donald Mustard, the creative director at chAIR and discussed their highly anticipated game - Infinity Blade - coming to iOS this December 9th for $5.99. We discuss the graphics technology, how they came up with the idea for the game, exploration, multiplayer, and the controls. Listen to the full interview in the video below. Also, later today well be posting part one of our video walk-though of the game in action, so stay tuned for that.
Instant buy for me on day 1 of release. I just hope the file size isn't too big, though of course I would appreciate a whole lot of content. Currently my iPad's free space is about 750MB. Being that to install an app, you need about a little more than twice the size of that app, I may have to delete a couple more of my large sized games if Infinity Blade would be 500MB+. Anyway, really can't wait. I'm hoping for a very exciting and complex battle system with not just parrying, but also sword pushing like in Soul Calibur. Another key for this game's success is lots and lots of battles and enemies.
i hereby would like you guys to give 4 stars max in your review. and say its because walking around with joystick is gone. The guy said it was because he was not a huge fan of this method, and they are exploring the right way for their games. And because chair said they would give updates to the game in periods...lets let them know in our reviews that we want to walk with joystick. Will be a insta buy for me, but i will be disappointed in the out-of-combat controls...
Along a VERY LINEAR walkway. Its like being funneled down a tube. So what if you can move from side to side? if there's nowhere to go, along that predetermined walkway, whats the point? Yes, you can kind of go where you please, but its like going in a loop half the time. Sheesh, some people, man...
I guess that was that interview they said they were gonna put up about a week ago. the article was posted today and the video I think too, but it's not from today. guy says they haven't decided on a price in the vid yet they did yesterday.
Rabble rabble rabble!! I've made my mind up about this game before anyone plays it! Rabble rabble rabble!! Controls are no good, even though I haven't played it! Rabble rabble rabble!! I know more about game design than Epic/Chair! Rabble rabble rabble!! Seriously, these forums are filled with some of the most self centered gamers around, and I thought IGN was bad! Instead of thanking a huge developer for possibly advancing the medium, lets just jump on their throats about why THEIR game should have been designed the way WE want.
After playing the game you will realize that walking around is overrated. what is it you want to do? You will see, being able to walk around does not add much to the gameplay. In fact, on the iPhone it usually detracts as you don't have tactile feedback. In my opinion the approach chair has taken is correct.
The video was taken yesterday. The first interview I did had no audio because of a mic problem. Due to the holiday, yesterday was the soonest I could get into re-record. We knew the price and date during the interview, but were not sure if the video would go out before the announcement.
