Lol you said you couldn't understand his post. I said maybe because you went to trade school, then you said you had a doctorate's (it's not doctor's hahaha) degree, so I suggested maybe you were asleep in class? These were all suggestions, I have no idea why you couldn't understand what was said about GPUs.
This is what happens when you think that you dominate English...lol... I'm Brazilian, and I did all my courses there... I have an idea about computer Organisation and Architecture... But it doesn't mean that I understood what they were talking about! See, computer science is a very large field, sometimes, for love or career, you have to focus on one direction... Are you a nerd like me, aweaw, sorry, Computer Science Bachelor, as well? Isn't strange for you, English language natives, to have a college degree that means "I'm a single good catch" too?
I'm definitely a nerd, not a computer science major, but one nonetheless. Actually this started as a slight ribbing with you over your original comment - however, no harm, no foul Anyway take care, have a great weekend!
You too, mate! I didn't want to brag, but when I started college I tried to stay away from "hardware" as much as I could... lol... I'm more a java/ajax/flash kinda guy...
Thus finally amounting to higher than desktop GTX 260/GTS 450 level performance on a mobile device as I said a few pages back. Yes this assumes optimal conditionals, mobile CPUs (even the 2.5 GHz quad core ARM-A15 cores) don't have the bus speeds to even handle all of that power, and mobile eDDR2 has very low bandwith, which would end up seriously bottlenecking the overall performance, but in the end you would have desktop 8600GT-9500GT performance. ARM CPUs are clocked high but have shit floating-point performance, but I don't know if that affects 3D performance at all, but in theory you can run console MW2 level and NFS level graphics on the resolution of the Retina display with the fastest mobile chips available at a very high frame rate. I'm also convinced that the iPhone 3GS can handle MW2 level graphics at 480 by 320 resolution, and the iPhone 4 can handle it at the same 480 by 320 res with some Anti-aliasing (so random people don't complain about not having the counter-productive retina display support) Optimizing for Retina Display is counter-productive because you could achieve a much better looking game with better effects and shader usage on an iPhone 4 at 480 by 320 resolution, and you could make the objects appear just as smooth as on the Retina Display with anti-aliasing, except AA is no where near as resource-hogging.
Sorry, but MW2 and NFS still sounds to me like Morrowind 2 (what game is that?!?) and Need for Speed...
Cool, I was half-right! lol! But keep the technical chat going know, that's how we learn... I'm a PC gamer kinda of guy, but I never know deep down what was going on... I have a rule: Get yourself a PC with a good processor and a good RAM (I don't mean 8 gb RAM, sometimes a 2 gb OCZ high-performance like mine does the trick) and spent X - 200$ (where X is a PS3/XBOX 360 price) on your graphic card.... I can run all the guys flawlessly...
I wish there'd be a Morrowind 2 As great as Oblvion was, I felt let down in several areas. Rumor is they are working on a sequel to Oblivion. As well, as a new engine and not utilizing sibling Id Softwares Tech 5.
Always you, Pacificsun! You know what I love in Morrowind, that doesn't happen in Oblivion? Is that "things" doesn't level up as you in Morrowind... I remember how hard was trying to follow a different path as established in Morrowind... The game ended up being hard because of that, and I remember how memorable was stealing the entire weapon stash in a tower on the first obvious city in Morrowind, classic! I have to say, I downloaded the Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul for Oblivion a few years ago, and it gave me the same Morrowind feeling... Try it!
I use an AMD Quad Core, 4Gb DDR3, and an nVidia GTX 460. Done for $600. I run every game at 1920 by 1080 max settings smoothly.
And it should run like that, but you know, to run games at a XBOX 360 quality you don't need such a rig... It's like shooting pigeons with a bazooka... My average price was high because in Brazil we pay almost 100% of taxes on imported stuff... Even if those imported stuff doesn't have a national competitor over there... It's sad, but helps to pump up companies that decide to produce their on "chips", if you know what I mean... Chair/Epic bastards! Where's my Infinity Blade?
I'm 1/2 Brazuca, 1/2 Portuga... Nasci durante a lua de mel dos meus pais num cruzeiro entre Portugal e Brasil... Mãe de Coimbra e pai de São Paulo... Conta? Sorry guys, since Pacific mentioned portuguese, and this forum is English-only, I will translate the above sentence: I'm 1/2 Brazilian, 1/2 Portuguese I was born during the honey moon of my parents on a boat cruise between Portugal and Brazil... Mother from Coimbra and father from Sao Paulo... Ok?
Even I don't understand Portuguese. I'm 1/2 but never learned. My father is the Portuguese, I'm 1/4 Armenian and 1/4 Irish, Dutch and welsh from my Mother's side. I can, however, speak Armenian swear words. Not much in 29 yrs. of life, eh?
Yeah but I want way more than XBOX 360 quality. I want insane DirectX 11 effects, Crysis 2 lvel graphics, insane detail, that makes any console game look like crap. And my rig does that fine
Sou americano mas morei em Santa Catarina por dois anos. Você mora onde? For English only: I lived in Florianopolis for two years. Where do you live?
You're lucky, because normally, to get the Crysis up-to-date effect, you have to have a sick rig... I envy you, but one good thing that comes with age is patience... I don't mind playing Crysis 2 full ultra config 2 years from now...
Sou de Sampa, mas moro na Escocia há 2 anos... English: I'm from Sao Paulo, but I live in Scotland almost 2 years... BTW... Just bought the Tournament mad catz controller for PS3... Don't know if it was a crazy buy, but I love SSF4 and Tekken... Maybe a good investment?
