They could tone it down...And ARM has dual and quad core 2.5 GHz mobile chips coming out in 1-2 years and PowerVR has graphics chips that already surpass the PS3. (Octo core SGX543 is a ****ing BEAST. Think dsktop 8600GT performance.) The 16-core version performs like a GTX 260.

Battery life will probably still suck ass, but mobile device will be a crap load more powerful in the coming 2 years, enough for Gears IMO.

nVidia also has a new Tegra coming yearly. Apple basically has to keep up as hardware evolves.

They did mention Gears of Wars might be possible on Apple devices in the next two years; but that's only if they upgrade the GPU. The iPhone 4 and 3GS still use the same PowerVR SGX 535 GPU.

They can quote any theoretical numbers they like, but what they can actually achieve often seems quite different. The problem with embedded GPUs is that actual implementations have memory bandwidth limits like a 32-bit memory bus that is shared with system memory so they'll never reach close to theoretical numbers. You can also program and optimize close to metal on consoles, whereas smartphones will always have many system layers, APIs, and background processes taking up resources. Even with the Retina Display, consoles also work at higher resolution. With good art direction and smart rendering techniques iOS games may look comparable to current gen consoles like the PS3, but when pushed the PS3 would still be superior.

It's interesting that when the PowerVR SGX was adopted for 3rd gen devices, I thought it would usher in extension shader use in iOS games. Instead, maybe it's just me, but it seems like the biggest contributor to Infinity Blade's good looks is very high resolution textures. I haven't seem extremely heavy use of shaders in many other iOS games either. I wonder if the PowerVR SGX535 shader units are underpowered particularly to fill a Retina Display? Admittedly, the SGX535 only has 2 shader execution units. Hopefully, both hardware and shader usage will increase over time.

This game seems to really the most addicting pieces from RPGs, fighting games, unlockables and sword fighting genres.

I mean c'mon, tons of unlockables - who couldn't be excited for that?

Addictive fighting alongside boss techniques that change based on: attempts, circumstances, equipment and experience...

Sword fighting, kinda like Wii but using your finger on a screen...

    Mouthwatering graphics...

    I want this game now.

If this game were going to release for Thursday in the US...

What time would we know about it?

I wish you could do you swipes and holds off to the side instead of on the enemy himself. or at least let it have virtual controls around the border. I hate obscuring the center of the screen and blocking such great looking graphics.

Would be great to play this game in the weekend...
I don't know if they read this thread, but devs, please, end this agony and tell us the release date!

Update: By the way, I don't know if somebody mentioned it, but the british iPad tv advert shows images of the Infinity Blade... Cheeky bastards...

That one... It seems that Apple is treating this game in the same way that Microsoft treated Oblivion during XBox 360's release... :p

I just wish they would announce when this game Would officially release.

I wonder if it's already been submitted to Apple.

The IGN hands on preview, mentioned it could release this week...or within the next few weeks. That alone has me wondering if Apple has the game and are choosing to release it when they want to.

Maybe... But I can't find a reason on why Apple would hold the game's release... there's any hardware release that I dont know?

I agree - I think it would be in Apple's best interest to have this game out AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, I mean, it might change some Christmas wishlists to iPhones, iTouchs or iPads . . .

Yeah, I think you're spot on... I might be wrong, but I think we can expect this game in 2 weeks tops...

I was just about to post that link as well. Here is the direct quote as well for those that don't click links.

“Infinity Blade” should be released through Apple’s iTunes Store within the next few days. A price has not been set yet.

Wouldn't it have to come out in other countries before? Like NZ?
But I also still hope for a release before Friday. Would be the best for Apple and Chair.
