They need to port the NDS title, The World Ends With You. Most fun I've had with the DS before selling it, and great use of the touch screen. In fact, it was all touch screen. Bold letters to grab your attention. Then a punchline to refer to bold letters. Success.
Fruit Ninja has its charm in its own way. The upbeat music and mindless chopping (for the most part) is alright for what it is. But this? I see no reason for it to try to be a Fruit Ninja RPG... In fact, it might not be nearly as fun seeing how slow this game is compared to FN in that kind of manner. I was expecting a Fighting Game, this isn't it. As for the RPG elements, it looks like we don't get to choose "Skills" or "Talents", but instead we get to customize on boring stat points. Not really excited about that either.
It depends on your definition of "full-fledged." As a full RPG experience, Infinity Blade looks thin. But as a pick up and play fighting game, I think it looks perfect. Besides, why should Epic invest a crap load of money into making a full RPG if they aren't even sure if they could make money with something smaller? They're playing it smart, and testing the waters first. I think we might. There have been a lot of previews flowing out all of a sudden. The gameplay probably looked slow because it was in tutorial mode. But it is a fighting game. I'm not sure if I'll like the point-move controls, but the swiping to sword fight looks awesome.
yea. despite this being a pickup and play kinda game im not betting on the content at all. but the concept and approach from chair on this game is pretty interesting, at least its not gonna be like rage. man.... rage. ugh
i hope the animation don't stutters like in the video when it is out. And the slashing looks way too simple for my liking. I hope there is more to offer.
Follow this link to find out more about the game. One of IGN's reviewers has had a lot of time to actually play the game, and gave a lot of insight. Sorry if any of this has already been posted. The first is an overview of the game, the second two will take you straight to his reviews of combat, and then the rpg elements - enjoy! http://wireless.ign.com/articles/113/1135392p1.html http://wireless.ign.com/articles/113/1136076p1.html http://wireless.ign.com/articles/113/1136277p1.html Some excerpts: "A firm release date isn't really something you can expect from the App Store. Chair expects to release Infinity Blade in the next few weeks, possibly before the end of November and certainly before the end of the year. (No word yet on price, but expect it to be reasonable)." "Let's start with basic attacks. Swipe your finger across the screen in any direction and it registers as an attack in that direction. Short swipes, long swipes, up, down, diagonal. Wherever you swipe on the screen, Infinity Blade recognizes your moves. A single sword stroke really won't do much for you. Attacks are about combos, so you'll want to rapidly swipe in different directions, which creates a flurry of blows." He also talks about defensive maneuvers like dodging, blocking, and parrying. "Your character has four stats: Health, Attack, Shield, and Magic. Health and Attack should be pretty obvious. Shield isn't just your defense, but also how much your damage your actual shield can withstand in combat. When your shield is depleted in a fight, you can no longer block. Trust me; this will play into some battles. Magic determines, in part, the strength of your spells, but also how quickly your mana recharges so you can cast more spells." "Gaining experience is where things get interesting. As you'd expect, you get experience from defeating enemies standing in the way between you and the God King. The bonus factors being things like damage dealt to an enemy and how quickly they're defeated. The twist is that every piece of equipment (helm, armor, shield, weapon, and ring) also has experience points." From IGN:
About the 20-30 minutes of gameplay, it definitely sounds like multiple rounds are required to finish - and don't forget multiplayer!
Yeah this game is basically a test to see if the market is ready for a full-fledged game. If the test is "successful", who knows, we might see Unreal Tournament or Gears of War or BioShock on the iDevice platform.
I've seen enough tests... And I'm already playing full-fledged games (Chaos Rings, for example). If they test, they should say it, but they are hyping their games as next level iPhone games. Result in case of Rage? It's already disappearing from the German App Store charts (normal version left top 50 already). In the worst case, they wonder why it isn't that successful and stop supporting or going further before realizing that the fault is completely on their side.
These devices wouldn't be able to handle the sheer amount of enemies on screen that games like Gears of War have to offer.
They guys I watch the gameplay video and go to 0.39 I bet that's the god king there I expected him to be bigger but hey he still looks badass.
It's not the right background setting for the god king. I'm pretty sure he will wait in the middle of the impressive castle, not on a path outside.
Yes! That is one of my all time favorite RPG's. I loved that and Hotel Dusk when I used to have my DS. If either of those games end up on iOS I'll be super happy. We already saw it done with Phoenix Write. Why not those two?
