Wow, again I don't see 1 single second of how the game works between the fights, how you are moving from battle to battle. Are the previewers not allowed to show that part of the game because Epic fears that this will be a letdown? Really strange.

But come on, CHAIR is a fantastic company that has proven itself time and time again to release great games and will definitely support this.

The Minigore devs just overhyped a bad game, and either got the 'success' (and note the " ' ") to their heads, were extremely lazy or have the work rate of...er...something which has a ridiculously slow work rate.

Rage was designed to be a short arcade game and 1 of its main hooks is its high scores. The nature of that allows for repetivity as you are trying to beat your last score. In many ways it even helps you accomplish that.

Infinity Blade seems to be based around story which is more susceptible to getting old fast with a repetitive game design. The 3 things that could change that are a constant stream and good variety of items, a decent challenge and an interesting storyline and characters throughout.

To look at it positively, maybe they just felt that was the least interesting part to show off?

Their twitter says they should have the video interview next week and a writeup "later".

So this game has a campaign that only takes 20-30 minutes to complete (with the option to repeat), Myst style on-rails gameplay (point and click), and pre-canned cameras. Apart from the graphics, it's looking pretty dissapointing. Fair enough if they're just testing the waters, but after playing Epic Citadel, I expected a lot better.
Aralon Sword and Shadow looks more promising, IMO.
I'm not completely dismissing the game yet, but I'm not expecting it to live up to the hype.

Idiot. This is a fighting game. That doesn't mean that the exploring around a castle area is the most exciting part worthy of being on a short video like this. If you're so obsessed with it just play epic citadel.

The main action and the main attraction is both the fighting and the graphics. If you want a different game then sorry, you're not getting one, and if you want to have some sort of strop or protest because the game isn't focused on exploring massive, detailed worlds then do so as no one will care.

What, so after 'playing' a 'game' where you 'explore' around an environment suddenly you expected a full console like experience? If fighting games aren't your thing (and tbh I don't remember Myst having fighting like this in it) then go and play Aralon, which everyone is hyping because it is being made by Crescent Moon Games, but is actually just the graphics so could turn out to be terrible or mediocre and overhyped like Ravensword was.

    Oh my god....

My pants can't take too much more of this!

And regarding the possibility of the gameplay only being 30 minutes, I don't think that'll be a problem as long as it's fun, and new bits of story are revealed after each play (or bloodline) kind of like Chaos Rings.

Personally, Ravensword was one of the best gaming experiences I've had on this device. Content + a fantastic production (especially for a small team). It's called taste, not idiot :)

Fighting games aren't my thing. But I feel mislead. This game was originally advertised as an Action RPG, not a fighting game. I'm not expecting a full console experience, but I was expecting to be able to roam freely after playing the tech demo. It's especially disappointing because the tech demo worked so well and the controls felt perfect. I don't understand why id and Chair have decided to dumb their games down, it really isn't necessary IMO. I'm not saying the game will be bad, I just don't think the game will suit me.

    +1
Ravensword was great and Aralon Sword and Shadow looks even better.

Right, it's like teasing you with a racing game, then saying you can expect a shooter and then finally giving you a platformer :) But how dare you to complain.

It kinda looks like a really souped-up version of Fruit Ninja with massive replayability and (eventual) online multiplayer. The term "action RPG" seems to be used very loosely, referring more to upgradables rather than quests or exploration. No matter how good it is, it can't live up to all the hype and wish list fantasies, but regardless, I'm pretty excited!

@ yourpersonalrobot @LBG fair enough I guess, but it's unfair calling this a half baked effort. It may not seem to have that much on the surface but it's meant to be quite deep to add to the great graphics and gameplay you are certain of from ChAIR. I hope Aralon is good as it could be something like Fallout 3/New Vegas which the former is the best game ever IMO, but I can't help but feel it's been announced for too long and will not reach my expectations. Like a microcosm of GT5.

Don't say anything bad about Aralon until you've played it, completed it, then played it again.

Completeley playing it from beginning to end could take a verry long time... with all those side quests.

I could careless about roaming, but the gameplay looks rather disappointing to me in its current form. This isn't much of a fighting game if the combos are made up of random swipes. How about canceling into magic spells? or something less boring...

I hope I am wrong but this is not the fighting game I was hoping it to be. The gameplay looks way too simplified. They need to add more characters, perhaps? Like a dedicated caster or something.

Well I hope I am wrong.

Magic could be really cool in a game like this. Imagine a small little button that would let you switch between using your sword and drawing runes you've learned from several loot items like books etc. There would need to be a spell available to everyone at the very begining that would protect you from spells to balance it a bit though.

Do you like Fruit Ninja at all? It's a very simple game, but it never bores me. Infinity Blade looks like Fruit Ninja on steroids, meth, and protein. It might not be the best to play for long periods, but I bet it'll be great for a quick fix. Hopefully it'll be priced accordingly. $9.99 maybe?

Spells are already on it, read the preview from ign you need to draw symbols on screen.
Also New preview from ign about the rpg system:
    http://uk.wireless.ign.com/articles/113/1136277p1.html

"Though some enemies drop items and you will be scoring some hefty cash to buy cool stuff, it's going to take a while to master everything."

"But each time you play through Infinity Blade, the enemies get tougher and you start running out of powerful items to master. On my tenth playthrough, I was using one of the weakest rings and shields in the game, because I'd already drained the XP from the better weapons."

"The fun is in tackling the challenge again and again. Seeing how the enemies change, what new combos they use, what new weapons they wield in an attempt to destroy you. Defeating the God King just means needing to once again improve your character, build up after a few more deaths so you can strike him down again.

At some point, you'll run out of items to upgrade and your level progression will slow. But the God King will continue to gain power. And then your true skill will be tested.

I realize that collecting equipment, tapping them of XP, and obsessively leveling up isn't for everyone. But it is for me. And it may be for you. If that's the case, then Infinity Blade is going to pull you into its brilliant cycle. Then you too will become obsessed with the impossible task of eradicating the God King. "

Aaaaaaand that's it for ign preview!
We'll see tomorrow if our guess was right.

I am not sad about the game, I'm sad because I thought this might actually be a full-fledged game.
