I wonder if this could be a surprise release next week? If you read into IGN covering an aspect of the game...through the beginning of next week, each aspect per day...through Tues and Weds... And a game usually arrives via the AppStore on Thursdays? I'm figuring they are leaking out coverage bit by bit, up to right before it's release.
But it never crashed my iPad. Not once. I wonder, if the iPhone 4 NEEDS the extra ram...mainly because it has to be ready to be a phone, at any given time. You could be playing a game, a call comes in, or an SMS...you know, needs to be able to run the phone part of an iPhone. I don't know if the ram was given to iPhone for vanity sake, as they left it out of the equally (when iPhone 4 not bought in contract), if not more expensive iPad which launched 2 months earlier, and iPod touch 4, 3 months later.
Exactly. Not all of the apps that have been released for iPhone 4 have worked perfectly on the 4th generation iPod touch. FIFA 11, Reckless Racing, Google Voice (checkout the iTunes reviews. they're brutal. lol), Epic Citadel, etc. It really wouldn't have taken that much for them to put "Infinity Blade works on 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad, and 4th generation iTouch" or "3rd and 4th generation iTouch" in the article. I'm not crying "conspiracy", but I do I smell a marketing scheme... Apple and friends need to realize that some of us are NEVER going to buy an iPad or an iPhone, so stop trying, and start showing the iTouch users a little more respect.
Thanks for the link. Interesting stuff, and IGN seem really impressed with it. Can't be that bad then? That is a misleading quote. IGN say it will be submitted, not necessarily released by those dates. Apple could hold in the approval process for a couple of weeks, but I doubt that given their ads that pluging it already. Actually there's 2 screenshots. Here's the link, which is at the top of the IGN preview page. Here's the low res shots:
Yeah thought about that too, they even say that it could be out before the end of november. Well the problem for the ipod touch crash was that it wasn't impleted in epic citadel and therefore the application just assumed it was an iphone 4. They had to downgrade a bit the graphics like they did on the ipad to make up for the lack of ram. You can see the difference in quality in the epic citadel thread. They are forced not to say anything bad it's what "exclusivity" are for but here it seems genuine. "Chair expects to release Infinity Blade in the next few weeks, possibly before the end of November and certainly before the end of the year." It's not misleading they say release and not submit.
That's good to hear. The 4th generation iTouch and iPad have almost the same hardware. Both have 256mb of ram, and the same processor. I hear the 4th gen iTouch is underclocked though. But iPad probably needs the extra processing power for the huge screen resolution.
This would be great news if it were true. I'm not going to have anything to do for Thanksgiving; my family is scattered about the US in different states. I'd love to have something fun to play in-between my boring work and French lessons. Ha. Nope. I have a good feeling about this game. It may or may not be great, but it'll at least be good, and hopefully better than Rage. Apple is going to insta-approve this one the second it's submitted.
Everything that doesen't use GPS or the compass. Oh, by the way, face time is running in the background ALL THE TIME on the new iPod Touches too, you know.
Personally I like Rage: MBTV quite a bit, but then I've always like rail shooters and light gun games. With a few tweaks and some game center love, it will be awesome. I did kinda hint at that. They have been plugging it big time in their tv adverts, but technically they could delay it. Well some media are like that, but they shouldn't be. Its the same story with reviews unfortunately. In some cases though, a developer or publisher only shows off the best bits of their games in previews and thats why they are so favourable. Well my bad.
Rage?! No one said anything about Rage. But seriously. I thought I could tolerate the on-rail play, but I don't think I can. Not being able to move takes away half of the damn fun, and makes it kind of boring (in my personal and completely subjective opinion). Although Infinity Blade is tap-to-move, there seems to be more control over where and when you move. That, combined with the story, sword fighting, RPG elements, and the best iOS graphics ever, I can see myself having a grand ole time.
I must have that green bladed sword, from the screenshot. This game will be so Epic (pun intended) with Gamecenter, when it is added. Think of all that awesome loot, to show and battle with. Ahhhhh! This game will do me in, I swear. Aralon, too. In fact Aralon will be the only other game that could pull me from Infinity Blade, when the moment comes for both to battle.
Re-read preview. Adding speculation: "I've played quite a bit of Infinity Blade and I have plenty of answers to questions I'm sure you must have. Today, I'll give you a rundown of the basics. Monday, November 22, I'll detail the combat -- exactly how it plays, how magic works, and if it's any good. And Tuesday, I'll explain the leveling system, which plays a crucial role in not only helping you topple the nefarious God King, but will likely spur you on to invest dozens of hours into Infinity Blade. " Speculation: they are covering the game, as of today through Tuesday... Does that mean, they are posting the review on Wednesday, in time for release Thursday? Hmmm... "A firm release date isn't really something you can expect from the App Store. Chair expects to release Infinity Blade in the next few weeks, possibly before the end of November and certainly before the end of the year. (No word yet on price, but expect it to be reasonable)." Speculation: I would go with next week. Right before the holidays. This game would certainly BE a system seller for Apple. This is a marque title in all their tv ads, too. Having this game readily available, For BLACK FRIDAY would certainly sell IOS devices to gamers and consumers alike - those interested in handhelds and graphics. It would be in Apples interest too, as it would steal some Sony and Nintendo thunder on the busiest shopping day of the year.
Yup we've been discussing that a bit on the last page and it seems likely, guess we'll see that next week!
Well at least you admit that its your opinion. So many comments (and even some reviews for websites) seem to say its crap cos its on rails and thats the end of it. That is so ignorant, it just pisses me off! Anyway, back on topic. I just re-read the IGN preview. This bit is interesting: This sounds quite similar to the way Chaos Rings works - in that you essentially have to play through the game multiple times in order to complete it. Its an interesting idea but I really hope they manage to make each subsequent play through enjoyable and fresh enough through new items, magic powers and enemy design/difficulty. Otherwise, as the IGN preview says, it'll just be "a grind for the sake of grinding". This, more than anything else is what concerns me about this game.
Wow Epic really has the best art talent in the industry.... I cannot wait.. I want it just to inspect the art =)... good stuff =)
