@PacificSun Apple does have a tendacy of not releasing all the features the iDevice needs in the first place.. They obviously want money. @diffusion I see your point, but meatz basically pointed out that casual gaming is vital on the App Store. I'm pretty sure 2nd gens will survive even longer than next year if people still choose to believe in the current era of iOS gaming. @nizy One of the setbacks for me upgrading from the 2nd to 3rd gen was the decreased battery life. I need my battery life, but it wasn't too much of a downgrade. I just didn't feel the need to upgrade anyways as it didn't list that much good info. I sort of regret it but meh. Thanks for sharing your experience though.
It's just so funny what we typify as ancient. The iPhone released in 2007. 3 years Ago. That's it! 3 years! The AppStore is only 2-2.5 years old. 2008... Its funny how we quantify things 2-3 years ago as ancient. That's all.
It's because of Apple's frequent release pattern of the devices. The DS would be classed as ancient if it was improved apon year by year - if the original iPhone was the only iPhone today with its low power, memory etc people wouldn't class it as ancient, as people would be satisfied with the not as good quality games that coiuld only be released on it. As more powerful devices are made, and better games are taking advantage of that, then it really highlights the weakness of those devices released only 3 years ago. tl;dr - if the ps3.5 was released halfway through the current one's life with better graphics, people would class the ps3 as ancient. similar story for iPhone.
Exactly. You wouldn't think that the 1st gen would be so easily outdated by now. I would think it would have retained some of its pride for being Apple's firsts, but now it's looked down a lot.
I'm kinda new to apple... I bought my first iPhone on may, the 3GS... Around October I noticed that my girlfriend was completely fascinated by it... We sold our old phones, she kept the 3 gs, and I bought the 4... She let me keep the 4 since she knows the gamer she ended up with, despite the fact that she destroys me on Angry Birds... Back to IB, I loved the Myst navigation thing... I never was fond of 1st person gameplay adapted to the iPhone...
I have a 3rd Gen ipod touch 8gig and was wondering if infinity blade is even playable on my device and if its not what should I do cause I'm really looking forward to this game
If it's not playable, you can wait, or upgrade. Simples I wouldn't upgrade from 3rd to 4th just because of one game. But I would for retina, better camera and better performance for all my games (IB in the future included).
Well, I guess this is one of the few games I have to look forward to now. I really hope Infinity Blade doesn't disappoint.
I truly was looking forward to Rage, even with it playing on rails. I purchased the HD version and played it...man was I let down. Now, really I'm looking forward to Infinity Blade and Aralon, the most. I think Aralon will be a stellar rpg and If Epic Citadel rings true graphically (more impressive than Rage) then, my hopes are Infinity will not be a visual disappointment like Rage was. I would be jazzed for Nova 2, however in that thread I mentioned not liking Gameloft's art direction in their trailer. I felt, had they gone with a grand alien landscape (Metroid prime, Halo Reach) my feelings would be different. With Nova 2, the jungles are getting old and are used by them too frequently in too many games. I would have liked to see them use a vibrant color scheme or art direction, like Halo Reach did. I wanted to see that in video games, I travel to and see new worlds...not simply ones that mirror life as we know it at present on Earth, especially, not in a game involving space. So, Infinity blade with it's grand medeival setting, really appeals to me. It's just rad looking.
Yes, of course. 3GS and 4 only. I have yet to see a game that only runs on 4th gen devices. I also doubt we ever will seeing as both phones use the PowerVR SGX 535 GPU.
Same thoughts here all the way, although I did enjoy RAGE a bit more than you and I am excited for Nova 2, simply because Nova is my favourite iOS FPS. What I really have my fingers crossed for is that the exploration in Infinity Blade is satisfying. I love exploration, from point and click games to the Fallout series. The Gothic-style architecture and general 'realism' is particularly interesting in Infinity Blade, and it is something that really sets it apart.
IGN's hands-on preview: http://wireless.ign.com/articles/113/1135392p1.html "Full details on what may just be the best iPhone game of all time." Interesting...
Uh, nice read. Although I still miss the (to me) most important info left. How the game works between the fights. I hope to get info on this soon. And since they got a copy, I guess, the heads of TA are also playing right now...
Intersting quotes: "It's rare to have much pre-release hype for an iPhone game, but then, Infinity Blade isn't like most iPhone games. If the right difficulty balance is struck, it's going to be a surefire Game of the Year contender. " On release date: "possibly before the end of November and certainly before the end of the year. (No word yet on price, but expect it to be reasonable). " On levels: "Infinity Blade is an RPG. You have four stats (Health, Attack, Shield, and Magic) and get two Skill Points to spend on these each time you level up. But you also gain experience from the weapons you use and items you equip. Every item in the game has an XP level, which you slowly drain following every fight. There's only so much XP an item can ever give your character." On items: "There are tons to buy with money collected from the field of battle and each weapon has unique properties." "A warrior isn't much without the right gear and Infinity Blade is chock full of items to equip" On exploration: "When you arrive in a new area, you can use your fingers to pan the view and look around. It's not just to get a good look at the pretty scenery. Hidden (and randomly placed for each play through) are sacks of gold (cha-ching!), healing potions and other items. A sharp eye can earn you some extra cash and spot branching pathways." On combat: "How you swipe across the screen determines how you swing your weapon. Small swipes, long strokes, up, down, left, right, and any direction in between counts and can be strung together to pull off combos. Tap anywhere on the left or right side of the screen to dodge in that direction and tap in the middle of the screen to block. There's a lot more to combat -- magic, parrying, and more -- which I'll go fully in-depth with next Monday." And boy that new screenshot looks awesome! On the retina display it's going to look amazing
It looks like they plan on spreading the info out over the next few days. "Monday, November 22, I'll detail the combat -- exactly how it plays, how magic works, and if it's any good. And Tuesday, I'll explain the leveling system -" Maybe. Maybe not. The Infinity Blade Facebook called this an "exclusive look."
"Infinity Blade works on 3GS, iPhone 4, and iPad." -- IGN This is lame, and stupid... Does this mean Infinity Blade doesn't work on any of the iPod touch devices? Or did the writer, like most writers, forget to mention the iPod touch as one of the options? Or is IGN just trying to help Apple sell more iPhone 4s and iPads?
Well epic always refer to it that way but i guess that ipod touch are integrated into the iphone 4 category. To JoshCM: They're not exactly the same, the iphone 4 has 512 ram where the ipod touch 4 only has 256. It caused a crash in epic citadel when the ipod touch came out.
