You can move. But not freely. There is a huge difference.

    On the internet.
Its not point and click. Epic citadel was released to give people a hands on feeling with controls and the environment. You can MOVE anywhere you want, although obviously in confined places. it is NOT point and click!

I love my kid. Only the cruelest of the cruel parent will devoid his son the joy of playing with an iDevice

We aren't talking about Epic Citadel. The developer confirmed that they weren't the same game. Infinity Blade is going to take place in a different castle

    Are you sure?

From the developer: "With your finger, you can look around, and there are different touch points in the environment, and when I click the point, I see cool cinematic shots of my character moving through the environment. While he's doing that, if I see other branches, I can click on those. If I see treasure I can click on it."

That sounds an awful like point and click to me. :( Maybe he just hasn't mentioned the optional dual stick controls yet? That's what I'm hoping.

Really depends on your definition of console like experience as I would consider Shadow Complex a console experience. Granted that is a smaller scale, smaller budget, UE3 game but it still has great HD graphics, story, good gameplay and about 6 to 10 hours lifespan. And the most relevant thing: it sells for about $15 on xbox live. That is much more comparable to this than a game with a $10m+ budget that only retails on disk. As such I reckon the most they'd charge is $15, but I think $10 is more likely.

Could it be that this is what they mean by Point and Click?

Good point. Full 3D games tend to be a little more expensive though because of the technical wrangling that goes into making them work well. Street Fighter IV, like Shadow Complex, is kind of a 2.5D game, and it sells for $9.99. Infinity Blade looks more like Chaos Rings, which sells for $12.99 for iPhone/iPod, and $15.99 for iPad. I just can't see Epic selling Infinity Blade for $9.99 or less. But it would be funny if they surprised all of us and sold it for $0.99. :D

Yeah. I don't know anyone who would want to play a modern 3D game like that. Maybe I could get used to it. But I really hope they give optional dual stick controls. I'd much rather walk than click.

I think you've got the right idea. Most likely, it will be third person during movement and first person at each path destination after the movement is complete.

I don't understand why everyone is so critical of this game. Be happier than not, that Epic is putting in the work.

This game will not be crap. The way Apple is flaunting the title in all of their latest commercials, including the newest iPad one - really shows their push for the titles' success.

Lastly, I will be a staunch evangelist for this title. A lot of you don't realize a couple of things.

First, Epic's own Gears of War series really gave the XBox 360 a lot of needed momentum in 2006. With that title, the console grew some legs and showed what Epic could do on the platform.

Second, Epic's own Unreal Engine powers some of the most highly rated video games of all time. Many of those titles have been huge successes.

Third, Epic stated in 2005/2006 that the Nintendo Revolution/Wii would not be capable of running the Unreal 3 engine. As of now not a single game with that engine has appeared on the Wii. Although, the Wii, is arguably the most successful console this generation.

Fourth, the Unreal engine, especially by Epic Games' own hand is a momentous breakthrough to be even appearing on the iOS platform. It's a first attempt at more console style experience, while using the iOS device strengths and features that help it to stand out. This is a touchscreen device, not a standard controller. A unique experience, why distill that?

So many of you sound so entitled, by stating what you want from the game, believing in vein you can make the game in your own ideas. Not going to happen. Epic is not a small developer. Treat this as a console release. Buy it or don't.

where others (like myself) are just grateful infinity blade is even coming.

Every one wants something different, yet, opinions are like buttholes: everyone has one.

It doesen't require you "to cover your screen with your fat(ty) fingers"

It's been showing up in Apple's commercials?

    That's cool.

I'm not being that negative. Aside from the point to move controls, I'm very stoked about this game (see signature). One of the top 10 reasons why I bought a 4th gen iPod touch was so that I could play Project Sword. I'm not a fan of point and move games, but I can adapt. :)

I find that most of the games that I tend to play often on the iPhone (those I actually keep!) are those that let me play without having my finger glued on the screen. Just my opinion.

I can understand the need for more precise controls if it was a FPS, but for walking around in a RPG? There's no need for it if we could have easier controls imo.

As far as this game's concerned, I am hoping for replay-ability and pick up and play. Almost like a fighting game if you will. Street Fighter beats Prince of Persia anyday for a mobile game.

there could be both control types like in epic citadel, why would i want to watch 30 seconds scene of my hero walking from A to B? also free controls give me more of the game

I was just having a go of epic citadel using the tap controls. It occurred to me that if that was to be your only control method you would need some kind of 'pathway' system for it to work really elegantly; for example that you could go only a certain way up a staircase, or stop a certain distance from a wall.

The reason I think this is because using Epic Citadel's point to move system, I often got semi-stuck, as the camera wanted to cut the corner to the staircase and rammed against it, an when indoors I would often be too close to a wall or in an awkward place. I would also frequently overshoot my preferred destination.
So in a way the control scheme they mentioned seems like a solution to this problem. (I would prefer dual sticks though)

Yeah, I understand it may worth a lot more than my bet, but I have a hunch they will price this aggressively. (9.99 or even 7.99)

    Cheers,

As well I believe the title will cost a premium of 15-20 dollars.
