Looks nice, but I'm not that excited... I don't know... My experience with swipe control is not the best (Samurai 1), and kinda kills the RPG thing relying more in reflexes than strategy... And Epic Citadel shows a nice place, but after checking the trailer and description, I really believe that it might be set in a big castle, and it's outskirts... It might be a little similar to Devil May Cry concept, you know? And not showing a combat with more than 1 foe is kinda disappointing as well... Maybe it's a swipe fest with bosses-only, and equipment customization? I don't know... The game could be like Oblivion, but I wouldn't pay 20 bucks for an iPhone game, I'm sorry... I can buy a great PS3/XBOX360/PC game with that money... I think I would pay 12$ tops...
We hardly know enough about gameplay to say the game is worth (or would sell for) $40 dollars easily on any device. I'm hoping the gameplay is deep and on the same level as the amazing graphics, but from what we've seen so far I can't in anyway say how deep the combat is. It's swiped based, but hopefully they found some way to make the swiping both skill and strategy based and the combat deep and strategical. Hopefully there's more to it than just simply swiping as well. Hopefully it turns out to be a great, fun, detailed, immersive game. Most portable games don't. Most are simple. Most have almost non-existent storylines or badly told storylines--even the RPG's. They may be fun, but they're quick, shallow, and short lived as well--and that's why the upper price point for iPhone games has been around ten dollars. If developers start making fuller, deeper games, I'll be willing to pay more, but the games have to warrant the extra cost. Right now fifteen dollars would be pushing the limit for me--GTA China Town Wars and Prince of Persia WW are the only games I've bought for my iPhone that would have been worth that price--and twenty dollars would only work if the game was light years ahead of anything else I've seen on the iDevices. Here's hoping the gameplay and the storyline in Infinity Blade match the quality of the graphics. It's certainly a game I'm looking forward to from what I've seen.
Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Looks fantastic. The swipe control battles don't look very appealing and the music is pretty bad though. Hoping for more gameplay quality as more details are released.
Looks great, I didn't expect them to add any customization rpg elements but that's an awesome addition!
Swipe gesture doesn't make me want it any less. Remember this is epics first iOS game. Things can only get better from here. It is also turn based rpg and fighting, so I'm sure it's quick but not frantic, buggy or sloppy.... I'm going a different route than everyone else and am guessing maybe the world of the epic citadel demo will be your "home" where you speak to villagers, fetch things and shop. The other castle will be where the game villains and battles and such take place.... Hmmm.... Eagerly awaiting this title.
Hopefully it'll release prior to the Thanksgiving holiday? I'm going out on another limb and am going to assume that's Apples intention. I know the game isn't physical media, so the typical black Friday shopping day won't work in typical minds.... However, if this game is available by black Friday, there is then more incentive for gamers to pick up a new idevice or request one for the winter holiday. So maybe Apple will want this out to increase device sales by the biggest shopping day of the year? I hope so! :0)
So is there some kind of demo of this game I don't know about, or are people just whipping themselves in to a frenzy over assumptions from a brief debut trailer that shows about 4 seconds of actual hands-on gameplay?
Yes epic citadel. Just understand it's a tech demo to walk around and enjoy the scenery. Not a game. This game and Aralon Are my two most wanted, in fact moreso than anything releasing this holiday for my 360. They just need to hurry up or at least give a release date. Thats the best part about physical media, they have delays but you always know a release date.
In a previous post I was stating that iTunes cards are a reason for the low price ceiling: less money to spend or a cap on spending, therefore people expect cheaper prices and more scrutiny toward titles, as they have an artificial limit. The reason a release date on titles like this would be best, are because there is such a teenage demographic that plays games on idevices. They don't have an expendable income, therefore they need to either find funds, save up or get an iTunes card. When a release comes out of nowhere you lose a demographic, because they weren't expecting it, have either used their funds or have to make the time to acquire funds. When a release date is known, they have time to acquire funds for purchase, plus the developer has consumer mindshare, because the consumer is aware or the release and therefore will wait, save or make sure the title can be acquired.
"Project Sword is a turn-based fighting game between Unreal-juiced medieval warriors. Players use gestures to unleash fighting moves and dodges, including massive special attacks that splash the screen with blood." http://wireless.ign.com/articles/111/1117418p1.html
No, but there are people in here being able to count 1+1. Read what they write about their own game. And think about the fact, that you always want to show THE BEST of your game in a trailer (I mean, you want to sell it, right?). And I think the devs comments + all snippets we've seen create a pretty clear picture of what we can await. It will be a neat little and highly beautiful game. But not a full-blown RPG, not even close. Wanna bet?
