We hardly spent very long talking about background textures... About 3 posts about it, not 3 pages...
FYI for people worried about the dragon don't worry. They explained how it's going to work. Along your travels this Dragon "stalks" you in a way. At random moments it will swoop from the sky and come down (I assume you'll be able to see it flying in the distant sky as a warning almost, which I think would be pretty frickin cool), and you'll fight it, then it will fly away after doing a certain amount of damage to it. It will come at random moments throughout the campaign, (so it won't be the same places/same times for everyone, which is good). Eventually after the dragon has come to battle you several times, you'll have done enough damage over these battles to finally defeat it, and you will be given super powerful rare loot (dragoor bone, scale, blade, and a dragoor armor, anyone?), and I assume other secrets as well. The QTE sections shown are the finisher parts, which will end with the dragon flying away. So don't worry guys, ChAIR knows what they're doing.
Wasn't the dragoor a dragon slain by Raidriar? Sure, dragons are inmortal and all that, but I don't think that dragon is actually the dragoor, and the dragoor items weren't that rare in previous games.
Ring of Ice and Fire wasn't super rare in IB1. Changes happen right? It would be funny if the dragon actually shows up inside castles or rooms.
I'm pretty optimistic this will look stunning on the iPad 4 with that A6X chip. There's not really been anything made gaming wise that really pushes the iPad 4 visually (Asphalt 8 possibly being the best recently), but given that Infinity Blade 2 only got an update to run the game at an upscaled resolution (not full Retina) when iPad 3 came out, I'm looking forward to seeing how IB3 looks on my 4.
Hahaha. Another popular IP getting a bit of hate because they only expanded on a game previous to it, and didnt change the game's core mechanics. Well, all i can say is that from what i saw, read and heard, they expanded this quite well. Dynamically changing combat, Isa and her non-Aegis approach, the map system, dragon's existence, the new stat-driven skills, the potion brewing, and more stuff the game may yet reveal. These things were added to what already made the IB franchise great and popular: it's core gameplay. 1v1 punch-out style fights, cinematic driven on-rails exploration, and a helluva good visuals and audio. Talks about a lazy pre-rendered textures and not pushing the hardware to the limit is nothing but elitist nitty gritty. One thing is for sure. This game wont look worse than the previous 2 IB titles. Did the first 2 titles' visuals disappoint? Personally, i dont think so. So I think this'll look great on the pads, phones, and touches. Oh, and Sanderson did a helluva great job with the books, i cant wait to get my hands into this trilogy finale to see what happens to the unlikely partnership of Isa and Siris on their quest to find the worker... And that ambitious fake god king, i cant wait to see his role unfold. Maybe Sanderson can make a final book which will act as the series' epilogue? I would friggin love that.
My main problem with this entry is that they reused again the assets (animations, movesets, camera angles, etc) from the first IB. I don't have any problems with the new features, they are cool, especially the skills, but seeing something I've already seen in the previous two entries just kills a good part of the game for me. Siris walking towards an enemy, using his sword, killing an enemy... All those things were from the first IB and were also reused for IB2. Sure, better graphics, lots of new features, but still the same assests from a game that was released 3 years ago. That's lazy. And now the menus and GUI is from IB2. One thing is keeping the game core the same (on-rails exploration with 1-on-1 battles), and another thing is reusing things from previous games. And I don't think this will be the last IB game, without talking about spin-offs. Chair only said that it was the last of the trilogy, the same thing GL said when Gangstar Rio was released.
Just started playing IB2 . It's good but I am losing nearly every time. Any tips ? On topic : I'm sure this will look great on the new iPhone. Wonder if it might be better on the iPad 5 when it comes out ?
This sounds familiar. A couple of my friends were struggling in the beginning when they first played the series. Were you by chance trying to get hits in instead of defending until a break occurs?
Reusing assets may seem lazy, but the fact that they significantly increased the type of enemies is proof they didnt go lazy at all. What they did was expand the enemy list. Also, the fact that they added more elements to these same enemies (like using background elements as weapons, and probably new flinching animations especially with Isa's all new fighting style) suggest they did not just re-use assets. If you still think it's lazy to reuse the assets like this, then it makes the Monster Hunter series the laziest set of titles ever. Oh... and pokemon too. Now if they continue to make games outside of this current series (like how each FF game is different from each other), then reusing assets will seem a lot more lazy then.
I do get why some people aren't excited, at the time of the first one it was a BIG step forward for the platform in terms of engine and how gameplay-wise they made a simple but challenging game that suited it. I don't doubt IB3 will be an improvement but in current time and with the gaming landscape as it is now, it doesn't have that same level of innovation. Fans of the series will no doubt keep on loving it, people who originally simply got it because it was the "big wow thing" at the time will find it all a bit meh. Still, interested to see what they do bring into the mix.
^Maybe people are forgetting it's a sequel to an already planned trilogy with books in between. It would really look bad if the Dark Knight trilogy had a different Batman other than Bale in all 3, or if the third installment in the trilogy was suddenly in a mood full of supers rather than Nolan's original no-powers vision of it. If they make a new series of IB games after this "conclusion," if they still use the same assets, that's the best moment to say they "lazy'd out."
