Probably because you're forgetting all the innovations Left 4 Dead 2 introduced. That, or you're ignoring them and simplifying it to "a few enemy types" to justify a bogus argument. Left 4 Dead 2 is a straight upgrade from the original game in just about every way it could have been, and it was done because Valve wanted to expand on a formula they'd established and wanted to perfect. Left 4 Dead 2 is exactly what Valve was aiming to achieve: an ultra-refined experience that is fun to play with friends with an extreme variety of game modes and campaigns, plus mods to expand the game's lifespan. As for Left 4 Dead 3, there's no news on that, other than an image or two. Besides, it's been 4 years since Left 4 Dead 2. Guess what game came out 3 years after the original? Portal 2. It's about time they added an entry to a franchise I actually care about. TF2 and Dota 2 will always have support, but Half-Life is nothing more than an overused internet gag. My point is, Infinity Blade III is expanding on what ChAIR wants to expand on, not what you want. Just like how the folks at Game Freak blatantly insulted their fans for stupid ideas, you need to understand that an idea that sounds smart to you is in actuality, probably really stupid. I'm not saying your idea is stupid, though; I'm saying it's probably stupid. However, my opinion doesn't matter in the face of the people who actually have the ability to dictate a feature like that: go talk to ChAIR's dev team.
I watched some interviews, the devs said that the new features were designed to make the game less recitative than the previous 2. Also, in one of the interviews they showed that the upgrade system would be similar to the gun in mass effect, where successive unlocks would unlock new abilities.
Well I am a huge fan of both infinity blade 1 and 2. I think if they did make some changes to the third, most IB fans would be happy. I'm sure the game is going to turn out amazing but if they did add elements of free roam, that wouldn't change the game completely but rather compliment the game. Most fans thought that if IB did make a third installment. There would be some aspects of free roam.
Man, talk about insulting. You come across as a real tool and a jerk but I didn't say you were a tool and a jerk but I'm saying probably. First off, get your facts straight. I did not suggest anything in regards to IB. I simply said what most people are thinking. Their are not many changes in the third installment. Implementing elements of free roam would not be "stupid" but might actually compliment game play but I can tell by your post you would be apposed to those changes. Even though the majority of IB fans would appreciate some RPG elements. I own both LFD and LFD2. I haven't played enough of LFD2 to really say that the second game improves on every aspect of the original. I appreciate both games but I don't see a major difference or anything that implies my argument is "bogus" since both games actually have similar game modes including multiplayer. Therefore my stance is very valid. Why make a third installment if it's essentially the same as it's predecessors. I'm sure Chair could give you 60 million reasons why. I'm sure this game will be a real beauty though and I still might buy the game. It's funny that you took a general, innocent statement and turned it into an argument.
Saddening that now the infinity blade series shall come to an end but this may open up chair so that they can developer different games.
I'd at least like you to show me up instead of just using my petty insults against me. I'm an asshole; I get it. What else is new, besides the fact that we never get along and can't seem to agree on anything? Frankly, I'm about done with dealing with my own crap, much less yours. Let's call it a wash and drop this. We don't have to agree, but we don't have to act like children.
There are ways to disagree with people without being an ass. As a "member of the press", what publication or organization do you work for? Your put-downs, unprofessional behavior, and generally haughty attitude towards others is something I want to be sure I'm not supporting with my readership or subscription. Edit: Ah, I see you scrubbed all references to "talking with CHAIR and other devs" about their fans' 'stupid' ideas, along with that "member of the press" line. If you weren't lying or being otherwise deceptive in the first place, I'd still like a answer to my original question, please. Feel free to PM me, if you prefer.
I think you're being dramatic here. You came across as being very condescending in your previous post to me and clearly it wasn't needed. I called you on it and you received my response. It's just a discussion on video games and doesn't need to be escalated into a flame war. I'm fine with dropping it, but this whole, " An idea that sounds smart to you is in actuality probably stupid......it's a stupid idea, but I'm not calling it stupid, but probably" What the hell was that? Anyway, I'm done with it. JBRUU is right, there are ways to disagree in a civil manner.
You're kind of winding the words I said. What I said amounted to "what sounds good to you sounds stupid to them, and is probably stupid in general". It was needlessly, rude, and I apologize. It was an aggressive way to disagree with what you had said.
That's exactly what cash-cow games are. And that's what IB is. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an end to cash-cow games. Is there a case where a successful franchise finally milked the cow to an end and their next game wasn't selling at all? I can't think of one. I guess each one of us is still going to buy the game, despite being it exactly the same year after year. We should just make a TA IB boycott event.
IMO IB II would of been considered the "cash cow" of the series but all in all it improved every aspect of the first. The 3rd IB looks like a massive improvement over the first two games so I'm not sure why everyone is upset. It's the concept everyone who likes the series grew to love but bigger and more to it. That's what you call doing a franchise the correct way.
No worries, apology accepted. I see what you were getting at, it was a little deceptive but taken out of context a bit. I think we can all agree that Infinity Blade 3 will be an excellent game.
Nah, I think I might still buy it, since the last 2 were awesome. This thread is a discussion about the game, new ideas and opinions. You pretty much told the majority of IB fans to buy a different game.
I think that Atangerine made a good point though. His post was aimed towards people who wanted free-roam (or other bigger changes). You won't get this in IB. Ever.
I'm very interested to see what IB 3 has to offer. This is Apple's halo game, sort of like Halo for Xbox. In 2010, when IB 1 came out for the iPhone 4, it really changed the state of iOS gaming. Yes, Gameloft, EA, and a few other developers were working on a some stuff, but nothing like what IB had shown in terms of graphics. It blew everyone's mind off, which it also attracted the broad market who were only playing Angry Birds and Tiny Wings. It's because of IB that other developers saw the potential of making high-end quality games for iOS like Dead Space. However, with the limited capabilities, the game was short and very repetitive, deeming as a graphical exercise more than an actual game. In 2011 for the iPhone 4S, IB 2 became everything IB 1 wanted it to be. It expanded massively, added multiplayer and missions, with even better graphics. It attracted even more people and even broader customers, and launched dozens of IB copies on the App Store. However, competition has caught up quickly, and iOS has become a true gaming platform and developers have taken it seriously. Here we are now in 2013, and some games have already surpassed the IB franchise, and even indie developers are creating truly beautiful stuff. It's really mind-blowing how much iOS has expanded in gaming in the past 2 years only. So it's very interesting to see what IB 3 has in store for us, and if it can really set the bar high for graphics, because competition in this space is harder than ever now. Apple is really hyping it up though, as there is already a banner for it on the App Store a week ahead of launch (Chair got some nice treatment ). I'm expecting gameplay to be similar, but let's see what extra stuff they got. No free roam? Who cares, this is a essentially a fighting game.
All you people calling IB and IB2 essentially the same game... Lets just think about this for a sec (please I don't mean to come off as insulting, this is just my point of view on things). First of, lets talk about the fact that there were 2 new fighting styles added into IB2, and in IB3 they're adding 3 more, and an all new playable character! This character, Isa, has unique weapons, fighting styles, armor, finishers, and probably can access secret areas that Siris can't.. A lot of people don't seem to mention this, but this adds a lot to gameplay variation. Second, do you guys know how much hidden content is in IB2? From the Rainbow Crystals, to fighting Ryth, to getting the Holy Ring, (yes some is considered campaign content but it's very secretive), and I just remember putting a gem into a Solar Transport Blade for the first time.... I about pooped my pants. A lot of people here say that they want free roam in this game, but I don't think they're thinking it through. Infinity Blade's beauty come from the fact that it's NOT free roam (well, and the insane Unreal 3 graphics). Making it free roam would make IB just like any other fantasy RPG out there, and that would be a bit silly don't you think? (Personally I thought Horn and Lili were both a bit of a hot mess, but that's just me). Also, having the ability to free roam would be much more taxing on our devices, leaving ChAIR to probably have to scale down the rest of the game. When I boot up Infinity Blade, I want me some Infinity Blade, not a a cheesy tacked on free roam game. I'm looking forward to all the hidden secrets they put into this game, be it insanely awesome gems, the XCS-2, or anything! All I know is that there will be a lot we will have to work together to squeeze out of this game. I can't wait to do a boat load of New Game+s!
Have you heard about the new Dynamic Fights in the game? Sometimes when you're fighting an enemy, lets say a staff enemy, their staff will snap while they're fighting you, and they'll start attacking you like that, so now they've become a Dual enemy, which I think is pretty cool. Also, sometimes larger titans will use the environment as a weapon, and grab stone columns etc. and attack you with it or throw it at you.
