I'd get the second, Its looking like it'll be better than the first in every way. If you're worried about story, you can probably take 10 minutes on youtube and look up all the cutscenes from the first to get you up to speed. Not much of a story there... I would recommend reading the Infinity Blade: Awakening though, it really fills you in. You can download a .epub version of it online and import it into your iTunes library, where you can sync it to your iDevice and read it. Or you can just buy it in the iBook Store. Your choice...
I know it's been beaten to death already but from I understand from one of the recent videos and back in the epic citadel demo days, is that most of all this hoopla and success of this game came from Epic testing the waters with iOS platform. I don't think they expected this success and in doing so created a brand new genre of gameplay style. Just because we peaked into all their thought process along the way, doesn't mean we were getting a crazy Skyrim type of game. I think it's incredible that they pretty much revolutionized the iPhone and iPad with a new way to look at gaming. We aren't all used to it and want ps3 or xbox 360 games squished into our iPhones but that isnt really realistic. This is the only device I have loyally been playing everyday and happens to be a portable system. But if I could even have a game like Skyrim on my iPhone, I probably wouldn't play it as much on my phone. I'd probably want my kick ass tv and real controller so I can throw it and not lose $700. Infinity blade 2 will be a monstrous and more thought out demonstration of this new Genre of gaming. It needs it's own category. The only other games in its category are Dark Meadow and EPOCH. Both of which I really enjoyed quite a bit. I'm sure we will get a good game soon in the RPG category but most of us will do with Bards Tale coming out tomorrow also I believe(Beer, Beer, Beer!). Anyways, I once again suggest the book to really get immersed. I feel so excited to play knowing the story and feel bad for those who might care but haven't yet.
It's a pity to see how unaspiring todays gamers are. Give them a few new shiny weapons, a few new enemies, put everything in the same repetitive concept and they're happy. It's like swallowing a cookie that another one has already chewed on. And if a lot of people ask for mindless games, they get mindless games. As JMarceLF said, the tech demo saved the day.
unless we actually like the games? fine tuned gameplay that is simple to pick up but hard to master. like the fact that i love arcade games but most of them are repetitive. again, it's easy for you to generalize that the game is repetitive and boring based on your own opinions when a majority of good games have some repetitive formula in them. besides, IB1 fans have been wanting an IB2 so it's something that they enjoy.
So because I play games like Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, Fable, etc on my computer or Xbox, but play a game like IB2 on my mobile device I'm an uninspired drone? Because I have other games like Ravensword and King of Dragon Pass on my device, but still like IB I'm an uninspired drone? I would think that after almost 5,000 posts and a member since 2009, you would avoid such comments. I really try not to respond to such posts, but I can't help myself. I too push for bigger and better games on iOS, which is exactly why I signed up for the WoM beta. If a game formula works on this system, WTH is wrong with that? Plus, IB is a perfectly fine game!
just curious.. did you look up anything related to IB2 at all? seriously. because i can't understand why you'd say you're curious if there's new features and you think it's going to be the "same game, new zones". there's a ridiculous amount of new features and it's more than just new zones. maybe if you read up any of the articles we posted you wouldn't be as negative as you are about the game right now.
I've read a bit, yes. Would you do me the favor of explaining some of the more intriguing added features. Btw, I'm not sure what's ur issue but I haven't been that negative about the game, I've stated my opinion and been fairly neutral I'm that regard.
In the first trailer which came out for this game at the same time the iPhone 4S was announced by Apple, it showed a huge beast (kind of like a Rancor from Star Wars). I read somewhere that they were going to have epic creatures in this game where it will take more than one person to bring it down. Do you think that was one of them or was this idea announced for future content?
Now obviously people will be better able to answer when the game is out and people start playing. With that said, I think you should be fine going into IB 2 game without playing IB. The story, which isn't much to be honest, is hardly existent. If you are concerned with missing anything, I'm sure a few minutes reading the IB entry on wikipedia should tell you all you need to know.
Yeah, your comments weren't too bad. Just a bit brash in some posts. I don't think it's necessarily you, but a lot of people have jumped into this thread openly disliking the game and voicing negative opinions. So we defended a game we like. Like I said earlier if you want a different game; buy a different one or make your own. I mean opinions are cool and all, but to just go into a thread and say, "dull and uninspiring plus no free roam equals epic fail" is a bit much. There are plenty of games I have problems with, but I don't openly throw out disdained comments. There's just a tasteful way of doing things, IMO. Here's a few good articles on new stuff. i'd also advise watchin a couple of the videos posted in this thread. http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Multiformat/Infinity+Blade+2/news.asp?c=35456 http://www.theverge.com/2011/11/21/2577319/infinity-blade-2-ios-preview http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/lifestyle/52964278-80/blade-game-infinity-chair.html.csp http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Multiformat/Infinity+Blade+2/news.asp?c=35167 The price just recently went back up!
You take it as I'm being negative when realistically I was not. I believe this is a case of drone-like defending of a game thats gameplay is hardly deeper than fruit ninja, with an addition of stylish graphics and a story. Take that for what u will. Sorry, GoofyJ but.. .. You know "quotes" are supposed to be used in instances of direct relation to what's been stated. I've a strong feeling that can't be linked to a single person here, let alone myself because I know I haven't said such a thing. Thanks for the links, btw. I'll be reading them soon but for now I have to get some sleep.
This is true until you read the Infinity Blade: Awakening book which is much more exciting than reading a wiki page.
I'm friggin exploding inside for tomorrow when this badboy is released. I'll literally be refreshing the app store from about 7:55 pacific time onward and pick it up the second it is released. Most anticipated iOS game ever for me
Hard earnt money? Man, you are talking about 5 bucks, don't make me laugh. People do complain a lot about games that give so much for so little. I'm beginning to think TA is full of 15 year old kids with empty pockets.
This has to be the stupidest post I have ever read!! You are the one the "15 year old kid with empty pockets" because you are acting like one.
The complaints in this thread are driving me crazy ,lol!! It's like complaining that gta is an open world game or that uncharted is linear ,this game is not gonna change so please if you don't like it the way it is don't buy it! Anyway I'm more exited for trenches 2 comming out today!
I was talking in general. Not especially you, but a lot of gamers are satisfied with "just more of the same concept plus more content". Applies to all this "Angry-Birds-Burn-The-Zombie-Ninja-Doodle-Rope"-stuff easily. My comments are based on my personal opinion and perception. It doesn't matter whether I am having 5 or 5.000 posts. Never said that IB is a bad game. But instead of coming with new concepts, most developers rely on the same concept to ensure revenues. I enjoyed IB until bloodline 4 or 5, then it became repetitive. Re-skinned enemies, no new options or surprises in gameplay, just the same "hey, you sucker, you killed my daddy!" like every time before.
