Haha, it's only Monday night for me. 10:07pm to be exact, so I have all of tomorrow and pretty much all of Wednesday before I can get my hands on it. For some last minute stuff, I'm really curious about graphics on A4. I read all the previews I could find and IB2 was only tested on A5 devices. Maybe, Chair felt as if they couldn't improve the graphics enough on A4 devices to put forth the extra time, IDK. As far as it crashing, I think this will be somewhat subjective based upon how people use their devices. If you clear your RAM and restart your device you may never experience any crashes or few crashes. If you don't do this, you might experience frequent crashing or an unplayable game. There's also the fraction of the population that doesn't read descriptions and will buy a game that was not made for their device's generation. Lastly, there are the bugs that will/might affect devices at random (ex. the progression bug). As far as the game crashing on A4 devices due to graphical overload, I just hope they thoroughly tested the game! For delays/load times, I don't think they will be as bad as some people have predicted on A4 devices. This is purely speculation on my part. This has probably been posted already, but I really like this preview of the game as it summed up my thoughts and predictions. Hopefully, gold isn't as bad as the article says. More than likely, I'm over exaggerating it in my head. http://www.theverge.com/2011/11/21/2577319/infinity-blade-2-ios-preview [[EDIT]] Forgot this: After looking over things the game will probably be around 2 gigs uncompressed. I wouldn't be surprised if it was less than 2 gigs, and I would be surprised if it was over 2.5 gigs. Again speculation! Also, somebody said that the game was 5.99. The game will be 6.99 USD! Lastly, just found this article that is recent. It's pretty good; it's a two parter, so make sure you read the second part. It, also, says "The Mustards said the new game will expand on just about everything from the first Infinity Blade. The sequel will have more than five times the enemies to fight and four times the combat arenas. It also has three times the number of weapons, armor and magical items that the player can use. And it will forgo the usual online multiplayer mode for a new version that involves a form of crowd-sourcing game play. Finally, the game has received some graphical improvements thanks to refinements to the game engine." http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/lifestyle/52964278-80/blade-game-infinity-chair.html.csp So, maybe A4 gets some graphical improvements; a little bit of wishful thinking!
I'm in your time zone, I just blanked out on what day it is/got to excited I agree with pretty much everything you said, I was really curious as to what people's predictions about what the plot would be like By the way, thanks for posting those articles, real interesting stuff in there
I hope the ipod touch 4g can run it well. i only had some crashes when i didn't reset my device for IB1. As for graphics... who knows. Like you guys said, I hope they tested the game on all the different devices. My assumption on the storyline would be that you have to defeat these bosses spread across the area in order to find the Worker of Secrets? Then the final boss supposedly after the Worker (if you fight him??) would be the God King. I see no reason why not to put him as the ultimate boss. Which basically means he should be harder to get to. ---- what would be really cool is if they changed his IB fighting style (1h1s) to... drum roll..... dual infinity blades!!! Wishful thinking but man, that'd be an ultimate showdown if the last battle God King could hit you with a double dose of pain, and way too fast for you to react as well. I doubt he needs a shield anyways!
No more real-time online multiplayer is kind of lame. That was one of my favorite parts of the first game once it finally got added on.
I hope they still kept survival mode atleast... that's what I kept coming back to anyway. And with the new attack styles and enemies, i feel like it could easily be improved
Based from the previous installment, this game will be boring and uninspiring. No insta buy from me!!

Yeah same here. I regret falling to the hype for the first one but this time, make no mistake. I believe Chair knows the majority of buyers (IB1) had grievance about the game being in rail. They could have given us the freedom to explore but oh well.... If I had the 4s, I would definitely get just for the sake of graphics!
I still can't believe people are upset that this is an on rails game! All of the dev interviews I read, they stated that they like this style of gameplay over free roam. In all honesty, I do too. That's why I bought Dark Meadow as well. I quote them: "You know, I'm not a huge fan - at all - of games that use a simulated joystick or buttons or try and emulate the type of gameplay that we'd see on a traditional controller. Having these touchscreen is a huge opportunity to discover new ways to interact with games and that's why we very deliberately designed Infinity Blade the way we did. Navigation in the environment works exactly the same as it did in the first game, but Infinity Blade 2 is many times bigger than the first and it's much more non-linear. We're going to continue with the bloodline style of gameplay - where there will be God King-esque bosses that will cause you to actually die and have to come back after time - but where the first game had one God King, we have six uber bosses in Infinity Blade 2. Players will be able to tackle those bosses in any order that makes sense." Don't get me wrong, free roam is cool too (Dungeon Hunter); but if Chair made IB2 free roam, I would've been upset. I still think you forget that if the majority of the market disliked rails that they would've probably changed it, but that's most likely not the case especially when you factor in IAP. Also, if I'm not mistaken, Dark Meadow has sold well since its release, and it came out after IB. On rails isn't for everybody! Also, remember anyone can call just about any game anything. I just recently did that for Zombievile 2, which I actually really like. I was just trying to make a point.
I've never had a crash problem with IB but supposing crashes might be an issue: How much free memory do I need to have so the game runs smoothly? I think I have plenty anyway. I have a 16 Gb iPhone 4 and I have 8 Gb free space for IB2 and soul calibur when it finally comes. About the game being 5.99, I was talking about euro.
I am not upset, just stating the obvious. Go back and read AppStore reviews for IB1, the majority of players including myself said the game became very repetitive after the 2nd bloodline and it was on rails. You could say, we were tricked by the hype, and the tech demo that was released (forgot its name). How can the devs say they like IB2 on rails and made it "deliberately" to be so? Lol! Aren't they supposed to listen to thier customers and perhaps make half part of the game exploratory.
IB is the only game over $0.99 to stay in the top 50 for the entire past year. Not only that, it has never gone down to $0.99 before. It also has a 5 star rating. I'm pretty sure more than enough people (the vast majority) like the game just fine. In any case, I'm more excited for IB2 than I was for MC3.
Ah, those dang currency conversions get me every time. The space isn't really an issue, as I hover around 200 or less megs on my iPod at all times. Just make sure you clear your RAM meaning that you close all of your background applications. If needed also restart your phone, but this isn't always necessary. Extreme cases include going into airplane mode, but you'll more than likely never experience that. I never did until I started beta testing; had to play in airplane mode for almost 2 days. But yeah, you should be good to go!
Thanks for the info. I always have a zillion things opened at the same time and it never gives me any problem. But it's nice to know I can top up my memory without any trouble. I have erased some games I didn't play anymore anyway because they took too much memory (monkey island series as once you've played them once there's no interest, blades of fury as soul calibur is coming, and UMK3 as it is, well, disappointing). I can't wait to have IB2 (and soul calibur)
I see your point, but the AppStore only reflects a certain percentage of users. I see how the game can feel repetitive, but it's an immersive sort of game. You don't need to freely move around to enjoy it. I've never felt that with a free roam game on iOS. Was it as immersive or deep as it could've been; hmm, maybe not. The second one plans on improving on that. Again, I have to use Dark Meadow as a reference. It clearly shows that free roam is not necessary. The users in the thread have also shown that. I also have to state that the AppStore says that 120,000 people think it's a 5 star game vs the 18,000 that think it's between 1 and 4 stars. When this changes we will see free roam. Last two things as I tend to ramble and don't want to revise this post. 1. Was the game hyped up; sure. That's just good marketing on their behalf. Doesn't make it a bad game either; repetitive maybe. 2. This is what I said about Zombieville 2. It's very brief. Nonetheless, I don't want to really argue/discuss what Chair should've done. When and if they get a ton of bad reviews, they will think twice about on rails, repetitive gaming. Haha, yeah me too! Only certain games need the extra oomph; those sprites will get ya (bit of graphical humor)! Definitely looking forward to Soul Calibur! Geez, it took me like an hour to finish this post.
No.. I wasn't even aware this was releasing this Thursday. (where have I been??) As it seems, this is practically an extension to the first, which is cool don't get me wrong. But I would have been infinitely more interested if IB2 would have implemented an open world design, much like Epic Citadel but on a larger scale. As it is, I'm not so sure I'll be picking this up. I'm not hating on the game, I spent lots of time with on the original but I've since gotten bored of it and do not look forward to starting over, even in a new area.
