Matchmaking seems fair, I've not felt overwhelmed even at my lowly rank. I seem to be collecting cards/credits/XP at a decent rate. I can't answer about the controller but I've got used to the touch controls. It's a fun game with a surprising amount of depth.
Infinite Tanks Review Disclaimer: I beta test for Atypical Games. In my opinion this is the finest game that Atypical has ever made. The depth of the game is phenomenal. The graphics engine is the best they’ve ever developed, and the game looks beautiful. The gameplay is fantastic. It’s a Premium game — it is NOT pay to play or pay to win. YOU NEVER SPEND REAL MONEY TO GET CURRENCY FOR TANK PARTS. I play on an iMac and an iPad Air 2 on a single account linked by Game Center, and it’s synced perfectly whichever device I grab. AMAZING DEPTH. • Tanks: Infinity is a big number, and you can make almost that many tanks. I say make tanks because that and blast other tanks is what you do. There are a few different classes of regular tanks: Scout, Light, Medium, Heavy, as well as a series of classes of Tank Destroyers. You build each using a slew of basic components like tank Body, Turret, Tracks, Engine, Gun, plus a bunch of secondary parts like Radar, Antenna, Mortars/Minelayers, Gun enhancements, Engine enhancements, extra Armor, etc. You earn currency in the game as you play, and you put that toward parts. YOU NEVER SPEND REAL MONEY TO GET CURRENCY FOR PARTS; it’s all earned by playing. As you level up, you can make new tanks with higher-level components or modify existing tanks with better components. You also win components and/or game currency at the end Campaign levels and at the end of online matches. Don’t want to go through the trouble of custom-building any of your tanks? hit the “Build Best Tank” button, and your best parts will assemble themselves into a killer tank. Also — you can test drive a tank as you assemble it in order to try out various parts. You can’t go wrong. • Single Player Mode: fully three types of gameplay: Campaign, Drills, and “Custom”. The Campaign is fun and very rewarding in terms of in-game currency and tank components. Play a few levels of that and you’ll be able to set yourself up with a nice tank for competing online. Online play is my favorite. Drills: there are a LOT of drills, and they resemble Campaign levels, but without the continuity. They are also very rewarding, with increasing rewards for higher level Drills. “Custom” game type: you can play with a team of bots vs a team of bots in the game types of Team Death Match, Capture the Base, Last Team Standing, King of the Hill, and Free Roam, in which you can explore the exquisite and very large maps. • Maps: Have you ever seen an Atypical game without beautiful scenery? Well, this one is tops. And you can blow up the scenery (that’s worth $5 right there). So much detail, from detailed buildings (with reflections in the windows!) to exquisite landscapes featuring WEATHER, rivers, oceans, mountains, trees, all of it. • Multiplayer: My favorite way to play — but I recommend first doing the campaign for leveling up yourself and your tank quickly. Multiplayer pits two teams against each other. You can go online to play Multiplayer by yourself, or you can make or join a brigade. Then when you go online to play, you can chat with your brigade mates in the lobby first, and enter games together. I love the brigade feature. You can have a LOT of players in your brigade (mine has 22 at the moment, not sure of the ceiling). You can text chat with players in the game, too. Current game types (I think more will be added) : King of the Hill, Capture the Base, Team Deathmatch. I haven’t counted, but 8 or so players can be on each team in a game. • Informative Voiceover: A great-sounding and helpful in-game voiceover tells you useful things when you need it. It’s the voice used in Battle Supremacy, but with appropriate phrases to this game. If your shot bounced, it might suggest loading another type of ammo; if you’ve taken damage it might say so, it might suggest doing something useful that you hadn’t thought of. • Radar helps you find enemies. Aim-assist can help you blast them if you need it. For more info, come to the Official Infinite Tanks Fan Page on Facebook. Hacks? I'm thinking that there must be hacks for the game - I encountered a lvl 4 tank In a online DM that was slinging 300+ damage shots at sustained machine gun speeds (30-40 shots) with no pause for reloads. I looked at his tank, and his reload time should have been 5.5 seconds. He had around 20 kills. "Deepdarkfantacy" was his handle.
Component info? I'm still trying to figure out how to determine the characteristics of a component without actually looking at it mounted. The whole "trading" aspect and the different "manufacturers" is a bit confusing. I've concluded that different manufacturers emphasize different priorities (speed, firepower and defense, but beyond that, I'm clueless. Any FAQs on the subject?
Tank stats are handled on the server side to keep people from hacking local tank files, so I think there are no tank files to hack locally. That's my understanding. Perhaps he was shooting the right ammo at the right places, meaning up the rear with HE rounds or AP, or on the side with the AP. The biggest damage is from the HE hitting a tank square on its rear. Other places the HE will mostly not penetrate, but will cause a little blast damage. Use your garage's Test Drive feature to shoot the target tanks outside of the hangar. Try different rounds on the fronts, the sides, the rears of those. Then you'll get it sorted out. Also: he may have had a high-powered gun, with component enhancements that allowed him to deal good damage.
A FAQ would be great. I don't know of one. But come to the Official Fan Page on FAcebook for lots active people to bounce things off of ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/Infinitytanksfanpage/ ) As for the manufacturers, you are correct about the emphases of each. ALSO: if you can build a tank with a set of components that includes 3 or more from one manufacturer, the stats are boosted across all factors beyond what they'd be for a tank made from parts from different manufacturers. As for trading, I don't know... I usually sell my older, unused parts.
I found a FAQ! Well, not exactly, but go to Options (the gear on lower right of main screen) and hit Help. It'll tell you about manufacturers and sets of parts, among other things. You only need 3 cards from a given manufacturer to get the bonus, I just read. Funny, I hadn't looked at Help in a long time! (Last half of beta).
It is fun playing with people you know. But it only makes sense I guess, if you have a place to meet and talk, like a forum or a facebook group. It made also much more sense in air combat FFA (everybody fights against everybody, so you could team up. In IT it will be possible to play against other brigades too.
Rank of Components That was some great info about the help file. My understanding expands. Here's something we could figure out together - how are the "item names" from each "manufacturers" ranked? Here are the names used: Firepower Manufacture Tiger Lion Panther Puma Saber Ocelot Speed Manufacture Harrier Raptor Eagle Hawk Falcon Dart Armor Manufacture (only three?) Arcture Polaris Sirius Can anyone rank them?
I sure haven't tried to figure that out. But I've seen others who have declared their favorites within each manufacturer.
I decided to buy this because I was looking for a fast paced, highly customizable action tank game. The other tank stuff did not satisfy my desire for adrenalin rush, they were either too clunky or slow or both. I am also tired of all this freemium bull invading my phone space, spamming me with ads and other buy-in now stuff. Never regretted my decision, not for one second, I am having a blast right now, hope the servers keep up with the hype. Here's to you, to the creators, I raise my cup and say Thank you for not selling out! You are the crazy ones my friends, truly crazy ones. (just like Jobs wished)
The color rankings are Grey Green Blue Fire (orange) Also, after a card's name might be a number, as in "Vega 2" or "Antenna 6-90". The higher numbers are better, and if they're significantly higher, the card can be more powerful than a comparable higher-colored card. I see in upgrading one of my tanks that the Grey "Level 18 Mortar 25B" would help my tank more than a Blue "Level 16 Mortar 15B". In the end, when upgrading I try each on the tank to see which is best, meaning I sselect it to check before paying credits to install it.
I'm finding the only way to make sense of the stats quickly is to use the sell price of an item as a guide. They are the most confusing parts. It's also awkward only being to see the stats for one item, it'd be good to be able to apply a few items as the loss on one might be cover d by another. This is of course nitpicking while we're on the subject
Working on Server Issues [edit: all is working great now] I have word that there are server issues they are working on, as of half an hour ago. I haven't checked (morning here).
This would be a lot of work… You have to ask the devs, I doubt that some of the players have the overview. I also doubt if it would really be a help, but it could be, that some players really want to find out and make a research. It will be a a big chart. Because: Each card affects different stats of your tank, not just one. Some affect more, others less… In the inventory at the bottom of the page, you can see the stats of the different cards/tank parts. Knowing every value and rankng, every connection between the parts would tanke out some magic, which is now in the game. Now you have to try out, what fits you, try out to improve it, try this combination or another one… If you filter out the or the five best combinations of parts, everyone will drive the same tanks, and you can take away the infinite, from the app name.
I'm out of the noob zone, it's going pretty well although I did have problems finding a match yesterday and my deathmatch wins didn't count towards my daily rewards goal which is annoying. I only had the "win one game online" to go and definitely obliterated a couple of teams. I've not even started the campaign, much to do.
I was aware of three manufactures (speed, armor and firepower) and of course, the universal nature of modules. Now I have an item with a delta-looking symbol for the manufacture. It's the only one I've seen in my game, or in any other screen shots. It's an rare (blue) engine named Beta 2x8 T. Any insite would be welcome.
