Glad to see this update! Nethack isn't super-playable on the iPhone, but I'll take any version available! IMHO, on an iPad, iDOS/PowerDOS is very good due to the keyboard.
I'm stuck on the first floor of the dungeon, I have explored as far as I am able but some paths just lead to dead ends. There aren't any stairs down. What am I doing wrong?
You likely need to search to find a passage. Try tapping the 20s button a few places. For those that might be unfamiliar with NetHack, checkout: http://thegreatestgameyouwilleverplay.com Dev, you might want to contact that site and ask if they could update the ios link to point to this app.
Try zooming out and looking for places that would make sense for a hidden door or path to be, then search (press 's') around that area. Hopefully a new route will open up.
Yes try searching walls every few spaces where there could be a tunnel nearby. Another possibility is that there is an item sitting on top of the staircase obscuring it from view.

Anyone have a link to some help for this game? I'm a noob but I'm liking it. Also, the game crashes once I die and it gives me my final stats
Actually the "crash" is by design (believe it or not). Think of it as an exit to DOS. # I agree it's sort of off-putting. It was in the original too but I didn't try to change how it works.

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask here. Edit: I encourage you to keep your own notes too, such as how you died last, what floor it was on, and how you can avoid it in the future. NetHack is a difficult and random game, but most deaths can be avoided. Just be sure to take your time whenever you get into a tricky situation and don't forget about items in your inventory.
