Gamecenter with achievements and leaderboards. That's all I ask for.

Well a few more levels would be nice too.

I picked this game up last night, and so far I am enjoying it. The game seems like a cross between House of the Dead, Smash TV and Doom. The controls do feel a little jittery at first... but after getting accustomed to the use of swipe and tilt, it does become quite playable. The game runs great on my Ipod Touch G2 as well (using the SD version here).

As many have said before, putting the pause button on the bottom was a bad idea... I've hit this by accident countless times. I think it should be on the top, or at least there should be some sort of customizable HUD option (Like Wolf 3D) .

As for game improvement ideas... well... I will probably just be repeating what others have said before me, but here it goes:

-Randomization mode: Perhaps a game mode that randomizes enemy and item placement in each level? Would this even be possible given that the player will always be moving on the same track every time?

-Alternate pathways through existing levels: Play through the 3 episodes again, but with alternate pathways and different enemy/ item layout?

-Survival mode: How about basic survival levels with a "round-a-bout" level design structure?

For example: Go to room 1 > go to room 2 > room 3 > room 4 > then end up back in room 1 again... wash, rinse, repeat. Basically a mode where you keep moving through the same few rooms, fighting monsters over and over again until you are dead . The enemies could get progressively harder the longer you stay alive too. The mode would score you on survival time and enemy kills.

-Backwards levels: Start from the end of a level and work your way to the beginning. Or would that ruin the level progression? Since you are starting at the hardest part of the level and working your way to the easiest?

-Store option?: Maybe a mini store option that allows players to buy additional ammunition and maybe health/ armour before rounds? Of course players would have to be limited to how much they could purchase.

-Achievements: Well since game center is confirmed, how about an achievement for having a 100% accuracy ratting on each level (no stray bullets)? or a collect all items in each level achievement? Though, I'm sure something like this is already being planned.

-Additional levels: Given the size of this game, I doubt that we would see new levels any time soon, but if we ever did... a vehicle based level would be nice (I know this has been mentioned a few times)... something where you get to sit on the back of a moving vehicle, shooting at enemies. Or how about a level full of bosses? Or even a level where the player gets strapped into a fun-house roller coaster and has to blast through countless hordes of mutants?

I don't expect any of these things to be implemented (aside from relocating the pause button and adding gamecenter scoreboards/ achievements, of course :) ), I'm just throwing ideas out there.

    Less Screen Shaking

I'm not sure what the screen shaking is trying to achieve, an added layer of difficulty, or a "shaky cam" cinema affect. Perhaps both?

In either case, I think it looks great, but could definitely use a little less of it. The added difficulty of constantly having your aim thrown off in such a fast paced and frantic environment is rather detracting given the game's method of aiming.

I have to say, this game looks incredible on the bigscreen (av-out, yes it works), but the screen shaking actually got me motion sick at one point! I can say I don't have this problem when playing games like Black Ops, but damn, it was one helluva rush. I broke out into a sweat, my girlfriend was asking why I was sweating bullets, and all I could say was "can you believe this is a phone?!"

The game makes it EXTREEMLEY clear that more levels are coming. Or this is a verry unsucsessfull TV show with only one season and 3 episodes!

Please don't bring NOVA's stupid touch only controls here. The iphone comes with an accelerometer as well and it should be used for games like this. Gyro only is more precise but requires your whole entire body to look left and right or turn with it. When I'm at home and in the mood that's ok, but else where or tired, I just want to sit down and play the game in peace.

I'd love an option to toggle the vibration on and off on an iPhone.

And agreed about the pause button.

If you're moving your whole body for Gyro, you're doing it wrong >.<

Well I don't mind the rails - in fact i've been a fan of rail shooters and light gun games for years. Having said that your suggestions hold some merit. When you do get stuck with a mutant in front of you, on nightmare they can kill you in just a few seconds. A simple pistol whip or knife attack (like COD:Zombies) would suffice that pushes them back a few steps, giving you chance to finish reloading and blow them to hell! :D

This is an interesting concept. The problem would be it getting too repetitive and boring, especially if each cycle is the same. Maybe a round/wave type of setup like COD:Zombies, where each is slightly random - different enemies positions and attacks, mirrored level, different pickups etc might be enough to keep it fresh. Another idea might be to take small segments of the current levels (and any future levels) and use these in a random order as each wave. That way it stays reasonably fresh throughout.

Looking at the app at work today... one issue came up
the app is not respecting when the ringer is turned off and insists on vibrating.
At least iphone4 the vibrations are so loud you can hear them across the room.

While this is obviously not a big deal at all really, I find it annoying when games have a section OM the main menu for other games by the dev and when you click on it it takes you to through three apps before you finally have the list of games. This is how it is on RAGE HD. You click on more games, then it takes you to a blank Safari page for a few seconds, then it takes you to iTunes, and then finally you end up in the App store looking at the list of games. Isn't there some way you can make it a one click thing? I know I'm just nitpicking and this really has nothing to do with gameplay but I guess it's just something that annoys me.

I have emailed id support 3 times over the last 12 months trying to find out why releases such as Wolfenstein 3D, Doom Classic and Doom Resurrection were pulled from the New Zealand App store leaving those that had purchased the games unable to get updates (some of which added significant content) released after purchase.

And now in New Zealand we have lots of OUTRAGE but NO RAGE!!!!

Sadly id Support will not respond to emails so perhaps you can shed some light on this.

Yeah I don't think so. NZ's taxation and ratings laws are basically the same as Australia's (in fact less restrictive) and you launched it there no problem. Your non-iPhone titles are all sold here seemingly without issue too, so the company clearly has the taxation/etc system setup already for selling in NZ.

This is why games get pirated.

While it may not be proving to be popular to have two versions, I very much appreciate it. I've just now made the time to clear space from my 3GS so I can install Rage. I'm unfortunately down to counting every MB, so wasting space on HD textures is sad (and most universal apps only have this option).

When I inevitably upgrade to a newer iOS device, I'll be happy to pay the additional $2 for the HD version and will not begrudge the $1 already spent. I also appreciate universal apps that don't make you buy them twice (I may someday have an iPad and benefit from this) but in the case of Rage, you satisfied that by making both versions universal. I think that was the best choice, especially considering the significant size of this game.

Great game but not much to it,finished it in half an hour. Some improvements id like to see are the option to move all on screen hud, the pause button is annoying lol, also the colour of the hud is terrible, way to bright and covers quite a bit of the screen. the size of the buttons are too big, its a nice looking game but im missing half of it due to the colour and size of the hud. The option to make them transparent would be nice and even the option to remove the whole hud would be good. The controls are simple and work well so i dont see the point in even having buttons on screen.

Its a good game, like most people i think it would of been a million times better if it wasnt on-rails, but i understand you designed this to be a on-rails game, so it wasnt to be. All i can say is i think you should make a free roaming game next, gameloft do it and there always top sellers, so its possible and the demand is there.

Great game only down sides for me are hud and too short ( and we need a free roaming fps from id :) )

Australia as I understand it has kind of let the app-store slide by with things like taxation and classification. There is quite a real chance that all games could be forced to submit for classification in the near future, thus resulting in no more iOS games for Australia. :(
    article here

A good improvement for RAGE (as others have mentioned) could be a detailed score breakdown, showing how many target were hit, how many were head shots etc. Also some hard to get, slightly ridiculous achievements are always nice in a high-score game.
I also feel that to keep me coming back there should be unlockables and rewards. These don't need to be weapons and performance upgrades, even just Art and Wallpaper are nice.
