Thanks i'll turn back on the option to show all variations, my fault. Thanks for letting me know. Just been playing Indiana Jones! I'm like a kid again ! Plus i can delete all the poor versions i had before of games such as Skramble (not too bad to be honest) and poor Metal Slug clones i had found
It emulates about 1,100 classic arcade games from the 80's- early 90's. Back in the 90's emulators were suddenly really popular, emulators for old machines from the 80's and best of all MAME - which ran tons of arcade classics from the 80's. Over the years theres been lots and lots of new updates, i still prefer the older classics , the filesizes are smaller etc and easier to get hold of. iMAME works on an older set of roms (0.37b5), list of games available here.. http://code.google.com/p/imame4all/wiki/GameList So theres plenty of great classics there but it probably ends say 1992 when it comes to the games, other recent games might be using MAME 0.775 etc But it emulates all the old classic arcade games from the late 70's to early 80's, classics such as Gauntlet, Bomb Jack, Star Wars, Bubble Bobble and many other classics. Us oldies who grew up putting countless coins into these machines in the 80's, this is like a true dream for us ! So many classic games which take you back to the 80's ! Take Rally-X, i bought the updated version from the App store but i wished the original was included (wasnt) , now i can play the old original which i used to as a kid. Again with retro games some of the graphics look outdated but its all about the gameplay and that doesnt age. If you told me in 1988 that i could have 600 of these classic arcade games on a small gadget in my pocket i wouldnt have believed you !
Arcade games using various hardware platforms. Things like Neo-Geo, CPS1 and 2 (Street Fighter II, Marvel vs Capcom, etc), and plenty more. I actually just tested out Metal Slug 2 and it runs flawlessly (well, if you include slowdown that is present in the original game) on my iPad 2. It's definitely capable of games much newer than those from the 80s.
CPS2 (and 3) are not in 0.37b5. Also, there is only the Neo-Geo library until 1998 (later ones were decrypted later on). As for the app in the App Store... well, someone did not pay attention. However, I find it a bit weird that the MAME team is acknowledged (albeit in a "they're not responsible" way), but not Seleuco. Okay, maybe it's for the best for him, but he's the one who made the wrapper for iOS/Android, so, strange.
For the 7000th time i cant get over this ! So good, cant wait to play more of these classics later. Just funny hearing 'warrior needs food' in Gauntlet as i'm instantly transported to some dodgy smoke filled arcade in the 80's putting in more 10p's ! Jim VanDeventer - top man !! As the kids might say 'this is sick' !
I dont think it was, its an app with legal roms which are free to download/distribute. Other apps such as the Speccy/C64 apps can be amended/added to using iExplorer, theyre not shut down or anything. Either way i'm happy i have it, good times !
Hey quick question you guys, where could you get the rom or whatever for pokemon yellow? Lot of unsavory sites out there.
Not again You cant play any single arcade game on this build of iMAME. It ONLY runs roms which are version 0.37b5. These are mostly games from the 80's and probably early 90's. The list of games for this romset are here... http://code.google.com/p/imame4all/wiki/GameList Pokemons not on this. Its still a stunning set of retro arcade games, plus if it did somehow included later games i'm sure the sizes of these files would be much bigger. But check on that list first to see if the latest Playstation IV conversion is on there or not
To make it clear for everyone: YOU CANNOT ASK FOR ROMS HERE. YOU CANNOT POST LINKS FOR ROM HERE. YOU CANNOT GIVE OUT THE NAME OF ROM WEBSITES HERE. DO NOT PM PEOPLE TO ASK FOR ANY OF THESE THINGS EITHER -- ESPECIALLY NOT MODERATORS. Technical discussions are fine, as well as reports of what works or doesn't work. Keep in mind that downloading and playing arcade ROMs is of questionable legality. Do not make us to go into this thread and start deleting posts. Thanks!
Yep i dont think theres been any rom links added, plus surely people can use Google ? The link above i added was simply just a text list of what games work in iMame, no links or anything. Ha ha have people done that ? Thats like a burglar asking a policeman to give him a lift through an open window of a house
I wasn't responding to your post. The list is fine, as are more technical discussions about which kinds of ROMS work. But we have already deleted several posts that contained links to ROM sites. And yeah, PM a moderator for ROMs is not particularly smart .
It seems like the other buttons are just invisible in landscape. They still work if you press in the area where they should be.
My 3GS was never jailbroken (still on iOS 4.3.3), and I was never interested in messing with my phones file system. So I have a question is this iExplorer safe? Im asking because if Ill do something wrong and loose my save files for games that I invested 40-50+ hours, my reaction will be like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0S-d24HCSqI&feature=player_embedded . Desire of playing some of the classics from my childhood is really killing me
Well i've found it safe. I dont mess about with any file structure of any other files, not interested in trying to find a fix to get 100 lives in any iOS games or that and messing about with files. I just go straight to imame to the folder i need and dump the zip files in there, done it on my ipod and ipad, all fine. I'm not jailbroken and dont intend to be. Plus at the end of the day i'm sure you backup your device anyway but i wouldnt worry. Dont mess/move any other folders at all, just go straight to imame and do the rest
He can also use iExplorer (or PhoneView) to make back ups of all those games he's put 40-50+ hours on -- just need to grab the contents of the Document folder and copy them to your PC/Mac. iExplorer gives you a lot of power over the files in your device. You can certainly muck around in there and screw things up. As long as you are judicious, though, it really is perfectly safe.
