I think thats the how its supposed to be. Stage one and four on level 1. Stage one two and four on level 2. Stage one two three and four on level 3+. Not really certain, nbut thats how i remebered it. MAybe some one can confirm this.
Roms Questions to anyone who is willing to help me. Do the following ROMs run?: Street Fighter III (any iteration) Street Fighter Alpha (any iteration) The King of Fighters (any iteration) I'm a fighter-holic.
For the 171819th time!.... http://code.google.com/p/imame4all/wiki/GameList Just one page back was this link which shows the games which work so check that first
iPad 2 + iMame + iCade is the most unbelievable combination ever. I didn't really follow this thread and then my brother sends me a picture of his iPad in the iCade playing The Simpsons. I almost hit the floor. I stayed up late last night going through this entire thread. Got all the games that I remember and loved playing. Getting Metal Slug and Sunset Riders made my night. Then I checked Bed Bath & Beyond last night for the store locator and one location had a limited supply. It was 40 minutes away. The rest were like almost 2 hours away. Called this morning and they had 2 left and them hold 1.Ran and got it for $43. I'm on cloud 9 with all of this.
That's normal behavior for the US version. The middle boards get phased in during subsequent rounds. Use the Japanese version if you prefer it to start with a four board level.
Yep, for the US version (I think). I think the US order is: Barrels I Rivets I Barrels II Elevators I (may be Mudpies I) Rivets II Barrels III Elevators II (may be Mudpies II) Mudpies I (may be Elevators I) Rivets III The Japanese order *is*: Barrels Mudpies Elevators Rivets repeat
Is there any way to make all the buttons visible? It's kinda hard playing these neo geo fighters on my iPhone in landscape. Update: I figured it out! Isn't it incredible how much better some of these games are than the stuff being released on appstores. You can't beat classics!
In the game setup menu go do down to: NUM BUTTONS [Change it to] All Buttons or whatever you need on the list.
I know this has been briefly discussed before, but I'm having a really hard time remapping the buttons in Mortal Kombat using iMame and an iCade. I've tried everything and can't get the buttons to map properly. I start by using start and coin to enter the config screen. Then, I try to remap buttons, but it never works properly. I can do the same steps 10 times and get 10 different results. Also, I clear the config file between each try. Would anyone be nice enough to post step-by-step instructions on how to do that? I'd really love a way to set all my favorite games to the button layout I'd prefer!
A little tip. Find the button in the input menu you want to map and press the top right button in the icade. Now press the button on the icade you want it mapped to. Wait a long second before pressing the icade button. Cant map red buttons on the icade.
I am having all kinds of problems with this. Now games that I had working before, no longer work. I had The Simpsons working for instance, but now I just get the error message saying that files are missing every time. So frustrating! I also can't get the jpn version of Donkey Kong to run at all. Same error message about files missing. >_<
Thanks for the tips and thanks so much for your quick reply. Is it that you shouldn't map the red buttons, or you can't? I'm pretty sure I was able to map the lower red button to do something else... I've been at this for a few hours and I think I might be seeing an iMame issue, not an iCade issue. I think the only way to get it right is first figure out what each button does using the touchscreen buttons and re-map them based on how you'd like the iCade to respond. Unfortunately, either I can't figure out what the buttons are doing, or they won't re-map correctly. Here's the LONG process I went though. I wrote down each step as I went. Could someone explain why it isn't working? It's not making sense... - Log into your iOS device using the file browser of your choice and delete all .cfg files, including default. Here are the full locations, if using SSH: iMame (Appstore): /private/var/mobile/Applications/E00093DE-B122-4B0E-9760-5F46A6992C3C/Documents iMame4all (Cydia): /var/mobile/Media/ROMs/iMAME4all - Reboot iPad (just to be sure). - Log back in and verify .cfg files are gone (this is to make sure all other tinkering has been reset). - Launch iMame without the iCade. - Select the game to edit (I'm doing Mortal Kombat). - Set the stick to 8-way and the num buttons to "all buttons". - Launch the game, press each touchscreen button and write down what each does. Here's the Mortal Kombat default iMame on-screen buttons: L - Low Kick R - nothing Y - Low Punch A - Block B - High Kick X - High Punch - Hold down coin and start to bring up the config screen. - Selected "Input (this game)" None of the buttons are listed. Each one says something like "P1 Button 2 ALT or J1 JoystickButton", but it doesn't list WHAT button. Unless I'm missing something, then the only way to know what each button does is to re-assign them and write down what you re-assigned them as. Soooo...we do that: - Highlight P1 Button 1 and press B. - Press the "A" button to assign "P1 Button 1" to "A". - Repeat with the rest of the "P1 Buttons" (scroll down all the way, as some are on the bottom). Write down what you assigned each button. Here's what I did: P1 Button 1 - A P1 Button 2 - X P1 Button 3 - Y P1 Button 4 - B P1 Button 5 - R - Go back to the game and, try each button to verify what each does. I assume they remapped correctly, since each button does something different than it originally did. Here's what I found out with Mortal Kombat: L = Nothing (I didn't assign it anything) R = Low Kick, which means P1 Button 5 = Low Kick Y = Block, which means P1 Button 3 = block. A = High Kick, which means P1 Button 1 = a high kick. B = Low Punch, which means P1 Button 4 = a low punch. X = High Punch, which means P1 Button 2 = a high punch. - Go back into the config screen and select "Input (this game)". - Using the info you discovered on what each "P1 Button" did, re-map the buttons using the iCade button mapping diagram (found on this forum). TOP: [RED/COIN] [BLACK/START] [BLACK/Y] [WHITE/B] BOT: [RED/L1] [BLACK/R1] [BLACK/A] [WHITE/X] Here's where I'm stuck. No matter what I do, the buttons won't re-map properly to the button's I'd like them to be re-mapped to. I'm not sure why they remapped the 1st time, but they won't map in the places I want them. I even tried erasing the .cfg files again and using what I learned above to map the P1 Buttons to what I wanted, but either the buttons wouldn't re-map at all, or they would be the wrong thing (kick instead of punch, etc). What should I do? There's got to be an easier way to do this...
Okay, here's something else weird. I've been at this for 3 hours and couldn't figure it out. I just connected the iCade and spent 5 minutes randomly re-assigning buttons using the iCade, not the touch buttons. All the buttons now do what I want them to do. This is cool for two reasons: - I can stop messing with Mortal Kombat. - I know the buttons CAN do what I want them to, since it's working now. So what the hell??? Is this all just luck, or is there actually a procedure that can be followed to re-map buttons???
Read the imame instructions. I dont get the problem. Its really straight forward. U dont even need to touch the cfg files. It took me like 2 secs to change controls for my games. "You can remap the MAME controls (except SELECT & START) inside MAME itself. Start a game, press SELECT+START together to bring up the MAME menu and select "Input (general)" to configure the controls for all games or "Input (this game)" to configure the controls just for that game. When you quit the game the settings will be saved. When configuring an input, to clear the selection press the "B" key and then press "Exit"." iCade KEY MAPPINGS TOP: #[RED/COIN] [BLACK/EXIT] [BLACK/Y] [WHITE/B] BOT: #[RED/START] [BLACK/OPTION] [BLACK/A] [WHITE/X]
Thank you for the correct iCade mappings. I'm sorry, I may be missing something, but how do you know where to map each button? 99% of my long post above is trying to figure out which button does what. Is it just trial and error?
Have you removed any roms? A lot of games need the parent rom to allow clones to work. Even if the clone works in imame and the parent doesn't,it can still contain needed files.
The most you are ever going to map is 6 buttons for games like street fighter. Also remember an icade is actually a fancy looking keyboard so each button is a 'key press'. Choose street fighter for example. For 6 p1 buttons just put them in any order (make sure u CLEAR what the original input was by pressing b and exit first or u will have buttons doing all sorts.) As u enter them in take note of what each button press inputs as, for future reference (these will be the same for all input changes in the future). Try the game. If its wrong u will know what keys to change. Simples.
