Hi, One of the compliance issues to get iMAME up on the App Store was to remove iTunes File Sharing so that option will not work anymore. You'll need to use something like iExplorer and copy the files into the documents folder with that utility. It's a free download, just search for iExplorer. - Les
I've made a video which I posted before on how to load roms with iexplorer for imame. http://youtu.be/FXCY3uIyOD4
bad roms probably hey u just have to google harder remember the old dingoo handheld? it had a version of mame4all and it used the .37b5 romset just perfect for imame good luck!
Viewpoint works great, incase ya'll were looking for another shooter. I like to think its where games like Space Tripper draw inspiration from in a visual sense.
Very Strange. I played 1942 on the capcom arcade app, payed for it. All I got was a jerky, not fullscreen game. Now there is I Mame and I got the same game, full screen, not jerky for free. Why are these devs not able, to sell us good emulations? I would have been happy to pay for every game, I´m playing now for free with Imame. Why didn´t anyone release something like Imame with the games as inappurchases. Hey companies, you are loosing a lot of money, if you are offering us just jerky conversions and not the choice of a lot of games.
i did that too the only way i got it fixed was to delete the default.cfg file using iExplorer iMAME->Documents->cfg->default.cfg (this is if u changed 'Input (general)' from the configuration menu) it will recreate the file once you start imame back up using defaults. if u changed 'Input (this game)' i guess u would delete the cfg file for that specfic game.
Companies are primarily after profit while stuff like imame are fan made and more attention to detail can be given to it without a deadline to push it out to the public. Just look at sega, sonic cd was a hit and then they release jerky mess which is sonic ep 4 for iPad. But I'm sure you already knew that.
Because many of the game companies that produced them have been bought out by larger companies or went bankrupt. SNK for example was bought by playmore. Midway no longer exists, it went bankrupt in 2009 and sold its assets. DataEast went bankrupt in 2003 and the list goes on. Some of these games are protected under the DMCA and without express written consent cannot be reproduced or sold legally. It would require an act of god to bring all these competing game companies together and sell their games under 1 app (mame). MAME is simply a means of which to keep these old games alive, but you should not be playing them unless you own the full gameboard. I have dozens of gameboards and over a hundred neo geo mvs carts, so i'm allowed to legally play the games i own the license to on any device i also own. But i cannot play 2 instances of the game at the same time, that would be a violation of the law. Also under the DMCA not having headphones on while playing would constitute public broadcasting and would again be a violation, lol. The DMCA really needs work or needs to be repealed, but thats for another thread on another forum. Basically you are taking a chance by not owning the rights to a game and playing it.
I call BS, the slowdown is in the code itself and emulating it on a super computer cluster would not eliminate it. You nor I will ever play Metal Slug 2 without slowdown, period. From wikipedia: A revised version of Metal Slug 2, titled Metal Slug X, was released on March 1999 for the Neo Geo MVS. It fixed problems with slowdown present in Metal Slug 2, and increased the difficulty. Metal Slug X also introduced a few new elements to the Metal Slug 2 game system. New weapons and items were added, such as the "Iron Lizard" and the "Drop Shot". The enemy placement and bosses were re-arranged as well.
The thing is a lot of the games company who made these games back in the day don't even exist anymore like midways william's so it's a gray area with copyrights and who owns them now.
^ However, I am new to MAME and the emulator stuff, and in my feeling Metal Slug 2 runs just fine and very playable. Wonder Boy III - Monster Lair (set 5, World, System 16B, 8751 317-0098) runs fine and is FUN! (Tested for 10 min on iPad 2.)
Trust me i've 1up'd metal slug 1 and nearly 1up'd metal slug 2. In metal slug X i was able to get to the final stage before losing my first life and still managed to finish the game on 1 credit (albeit my final life). Metal slug 3-5 don't interest me enough to try and 1up them. 4 & 5 are too long to do it on 1 credit, i could never achieve the feat even if i set my heart on it. Metal slug 3 is just not my cup of tea, some swear by it, but personally i don't much care for it. Sure its diverse, but it lacks the soul of the first 3. And yes i said first 3 (metal slug 1, metal slug 2, metal slug x and then came metal slug 3).
Oh don't get me wrong it is playbable, i still enjoy it regardless. But if you play the entire series or even just the first one you'll see what i mean. Imo metal slug x is much better, but thats me. I rate them in this order: metal slug 1 metal slug x metal slug 2 metal slug 3 metal slug 5 metal slug 4
