I've had enough of Miley Cirrus/Britney Spear crap, it's horrible and we all know it. I want real music, like it was in the 70s, 80s and of course 90s. Nothing is new, everything is disposable and doesn't last. I mean, how is it that any good looking bimbo or spiky hair dude can make music? I want changes, it's not fooling me, it's crap!

Is that music? What do you think?

The natural aspect of music has been completely removed by individual track recording, and tools that fix common timing issues and problems that naturally happen.

Everything is just baselined garbage with no real sound to it.

    I completely agree with you.

You can still hear some mess-ups in the beatles music and yet they are coveted and loved by many.

Its the natural chaos of the world that used to make music sound real good, but due to technicians they remove these things.

Music is one of the most subjective things. If people think that is music, they can listen to it whenever they want.

Most popular music has always been trite. Enough quality music has been released, and continues to be produced, that a person could listen to something new every day for a lifetime and never run out of options. Whether or not you're exposed to it is up to you.

The freedom people have these days to easily discover new music is incredible. The internet offers near unlimited resources for doing so. The problem is very few people have open minds when it comes to new music - instead prefering to limit themselves to certain 'genres' or artists that sound similar to what they know. Like people who think hip-hop is garbage because of the narrow range of artists they're exposed to on MTV or something.

But yes, top 40 music is almost always crap.

It could be the low attention span that kids have today. Songs that make it to the top 10 are often completly gone after a few weeks, and you'll never, ever hear them again. I still listen to Supertramp and Pearl Jam, Vannila Ice not so much. We had our share of catchy crap but it wasn't ALL crap. I can look back and laugh at myself because I liked MC Hammer, but I also listened to U2 and Metallica. It's now obvious what was crap and what wasn't, and now it's all crap...

Music has been tainted ever since people started making money out of music. Garbage lyrics (all variations of "I love you, but you don't love me, I miss you, you forgot about me, so I'm gonna write a poem about it", so sick of it), garbage tunes, random shouting, massive audience shouting at the same time, and crazy makeups. It's more of a freak show than concert. This is the reason why I don't listen to mainstream English music at all, preferring to listen to classical music and C/J/K-mainstream only.

As long as Rush and Tool keep cranking out good music, I'm set. ;)

The only new music by a new artist I've enjoyed recently was Kaleidoscope Machine by Katie Costello - heard it in the theater while waiting for a movie to start. Unfortunately the rest of her music isn't as uptempo.

    Honestly can't say - I don't think I've heard any of them! :)

    YOU DON'T LIKE METAL???? :eek::eek::eek::eek: x 100

    *falls over dead*

Anyways, I can't stand Miley Cyrus or Britney Spears either.

I mean music singers have talent when they don't have to lip sync. That's what real music is IMO.

*cough*Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears *cough*

There have been a few good albums:
    Biffy Clyro- Only Revolutions
Muse- The Resistance (Awesome live No. 3)
    Kasabian- WRPLA
Nine Black Alps- Locked Out From the Inside

This year I have started seeing more bands live, and the support acts (usually shite) have introduced a few new bands to me. I also bought most of 2Pac's old albums and some other older rap, which I have just got into.
Muse are the best thing that has happened too live music, but they are definitely past their best.
I'm quite hoping that the next Muse style band will pop up soon (not sound, but idea) as in a rock band that isn't too conventional or commercial and are amazing without being poppy. Kasabian, Muse and Radiohead are the three bands at the mo who can really have amazing crowds and tend to have a no shit policy. (Biffy Clyro are getting there)

    mmmmmm... live music :D
