just curious what you guys would rather see gamecenter or openfeint- Do you guys use these services? Whenever I see these in a game most of the time I ignore it.
OpenFeint has a feature to integrate Game Center along with it. So you get all the features of both, while achievements unlock for both services. More and more games are using this. I think the best implementation of it is Dead Runner, they have buttons on the menu for both services to view achievements/leaderboards for each.
Game Center while lacking in some features - keeps it straight to the point. When I saw that Fruit Ninja would still have OpenFeint support and not full blown GC support I was sorta turned away. But that's my personal opinion.
Gamecenter because it's not slow as balls. But ideally go for both so people below 4.whatever can still have some sort of gaming network.
With Time Geeks we had the same question too: - Lot of people want Game Center - Lot of people want Open Feint - The old devices don't support Game Center - Lot of people don't want Online system Finally we add both options in the game and your can turn on/off Game Center and Open Feint when do you want. We added too the offline functionality to Game Center, saving the records and achievements. Why do have to choose only one system?
ok thanks guys I will probably do both them. Seems like most of you want GC unfortunately I'm developing on an older device so OpenFeint wins for now.
I prefer OF because of the challenges and how in jet car stunts it lets you see replays for global highscores. And it lets you see nearby high scores.
Both using OpenFeint's compatibility, it's a lot easier than regular Game Center, and you still have OpenFeint for the old devices. (and its new features for the new ones)
I think the fact that there's a clear lean towards GC as a preference here is a sign for what might come -- it looks like OF's features maintain it as a preference but players (well at least the small selection here) prefer the simpler, and more importantly, 1st-party GC. I wonder what a wider sampling of iOS gamers would tell us - The audience here should have a lean towards OF's target market (core gamers) - so, I'd guess at an even larger proportion preferring GC.
