IGN is an extremely biased site I stopped reading any of their reviews about 3 years ago. I've a feeling whatever they say about anything is bought in advance and they should definitely not be relied upon. Not saying they are always wrong but never take their reviews seriously without checking a few others as well.
EGM has always been my trusted source. Doesn't do me much good with iOS games though, at least presently. Currently, without IGN, we're stuck with TA's reviews, which have a propensity to be stock and uninspired (sorry), Pocket Gamer (meh), and I don't even wanna mention the other iOS sites, so as not to provoke my gag reflex
I prefer to read simple user reviews or blogs. Best thing is to try the game yourself though, as every review will be biased somehow.
I nominate EA MMA for GOTY: the first truly console-like sports game with HD graphics, full career and create-a-fighter, and great gameplay!
Touché Yea, I've actually read some of your contributions to the mag. I didn't mean for anyone to take my comment personally. No offense.
My votes would go to (best of its genre): Infinity Blade, Real Racing 2, Rage HD, Fruit Ninja, Sentinel 3, Zen Bound 2. And Enviro-Bear of course, how could I forget!?
And they're complaining because the year isn't over, which leaves out those great games coming out next week. Sure they might not be the most original, but if a game is fun, I don't really care. I wonder if they would have picked IB if it had come out a few months ago, and some other big name game was just released. I'd rather look at a list of awards from people who aren't paid to review/preview/rate games. There's no way to avoid seeming biased if money is involved.
Enviro bearnis a masterpiece of epic proportions. It just surprised everyone in the scene and showed what kinds of innovative games are possible on our device. The only game i can mention that we can say the same thing zbout is super meat boy.
