Some people may find a certain skin better than the free ones. And the only way to unlock most skins is through IAPs. I wouldnt care if this was from a smaller unknownish company but from warner bros... really?
Are you saying better as in they actually do something to improve performance? It's hardly P2W if the skins are cosmetic... obviously. I find IAP distasteful in general, but clarity around the facts is usually a pretty good way to do things... DBC
If they are cosmetic then why do they have difference in stats? pay2win is pay2win nomatter how much the difference is.
That's exactly what I was asking. Sometimes I really hate the internet... *sigh* I'm not doubting you, I'm asking if the costumes are actually different. It sounds like they are, which is why I do not support IAP in the first place. I get really tired of "you don't really need them" actually meaning, "unless you want a complete game experience." If I'm reading you correctly, this is one of those cases. Despite the consistent IAP cheerleading/defense blathering I'm exposed to these days, I don't waste time with games using IAPs. With literally 1000s and 1000s of other games to choose from, they're quite easy to avoid... We cool? DBC
i guess so. Theres a lot of IAP-less games out there but they're going rarer and rarer. Soon there will be none and iOS gaming would be pretty depressing. I've spent years playing ipad and ipod touch games yet I've only bought ONE IAP (game kinda forces you to) in my whole life
At that point, I stop iOS gaming. No big loss. I agree it's pretty depressing, and I was one of the people warning what was to come a LOOONG time ago when it started. Since then, I've generally tired of paying for things I don't (nor CAN) own, and at this point have ultimately realized that my "real life" is pretty darn satisfying. As a result, I have a better perspective on the (relatively tiny in comparison) place of iOS gaming within it. Frankly, part of me hopes the IAP charge continues and developers keep making "premium" games with IAP and cracking paid games to IAP-nerf them (among other "exciting" trends), which could possibly take down iOS gaming in general (anyone remember '83?), and make way for a badly needed rebuild... here's to the future! /rant DBC
Firstly, you do alright with the standard Batsuit, and you gain more than enough stat points in your playthrough. As you can see, the IAP skins all have different stats but they are all balanced (some suits are fast but weak, others are strong but slow). They are meant to provide new experience. I have a feeling you are biased as you found the game repetitive and boring. Totally understand that, but before you accuse it of being greedy you need to spend time playing and stay objective. Well admittedly I'm biased too since I'm a Batman fan but I'm familiar with games using IB battle system so I can tell whether one is doing it right or not. btw, you have NEVER made any IAP? That's ...sad man, sometimes it's good to support them poor devs Protip: swipe slowly. When arrows appear, swipe exactly where they are. Yeah, touch response of this one is a pain, but IB2 is not much better anyway.
I'll keep that in mind. My issue is taps don't always work when I'm trying to dodge red attacks. Which is a major issue.
The skins are not really pay2win as they have strengths and weaknesses alike which balances things out. Since upgrades are in percent, some of them become much effective with certain skins, and some become less effective. None of the skins is at all overpowered. They do have balanced stats, so it still boils down to preference. With that, the skins are definitely optional, unless you're in it for the collection or the fanboyism (or in my case, both). I bought all skins coz of that. None of them felt OP, none of them felt left out. So much better than any consumable IAPs... Which this game sadly has. That, on the other hand, makes it pay2win. But for the fact that i completed hard mode without any consumable IAPs makes them totally optional and for the unskilled. Also, what's the point of going pay2win on a single player game? I dont remember a leaderboards for high-scores either.
I just wish that we could play as Terry in the beyond suit, not bruce wearing the thing. A detail sadly overlooked by all batman dev.s Beyond Suit is fast and fun tough.
That's not sad. I rather pay 99c for a game than 99c for IAPs that would provide me much less entertainment. Its not sad because I pay for premium. i've spent hundreds of dollars on premium apps and only 99c on an IAP
Got ya. You're taking it quite extremely though, I'll say. Some of the best iOS narrative games I've played (Phoenix Wright, Ghost Trick, Layton Bro) can be unlocked through IAP, I never regret paying for them. Anyway it's interesting to get to know you, best, who only support paid games
Depends on how one defines 'overpriced' I guess. Eventually you buy things you yourself consider 'reasonably priced'.
Overpriced compared to a premium game. I dont like supporting freemium games since its a really greedy form of marketing and will usually earn the developer more money.
See... there's your mistake. The games Squashy mentioned are premium. It's just that they give you the opportunity to actually try them out before you can buy them WITHIN THE APP. Sadly, i think you're just being cheap. The type of IAP Squashy pointed out were IAP to unlock full game which makes it a premium game, as you never have to pay for IAPs again. I think you are just being aggressive against IAPs when you dont understand what some of them do. A good iOS gamer understands that there are good IAPs, and bad ones.
I take it you havent played The Walking Dead past chapter 1, coz you are so blinded by your hatred towards IAPs, you are seriously missing out.
